Actually, this wasn’t the competition performance. At that show, his dad was in the audience, unbeknown to Dimash and he said afterwards, he wouldn’t have been so cheeky with his rendition of Opera 2 if he’d known his dad was there. There were some really touching scenes when he spotted his dad there.

I hadn't seen THIS version. I thought he only did it the one time during the "I am Singer" Chinese competition. He did sing this on the show, but this is a different locale I haven't seen before. I thought there was only the one performance after Vitas insisted he stop performing it.. This looks more recent. I wonder if he negotiated some new deal. Oops, you said it was 2017, the same year as the other show, so maybe he hadn't been shut down yet.
Another great reaction. I love this one as he was even cheekier than in the Singer. I have an interesting Dimash choice for you as a vocal coach. In every concert Dimash puts the crowd through vocal exercises, taking it further and further until the crowd admits defeat. In Prague earlier this year he found an audience that didn't quit and could actually carry a tune and Dimash ended up conducting a choir of 13,000 people, so here's the Prague Chorus for you. Hi William, your life in Thailand looks beautiful! This video was fun for me because I hadn't seen it ever or known it existed. This is not the performance from 'The Singer' competition but appears to be a performance or perhaps awards show in China, and I'm startled because I had heard that Vitas was so angered by Dimash's extraordinary performance on 'The Singer' that he forbade Dimash from ever singing it again. (ah, the ego can be difficult) There's a treasure chest of remarkable Dimash performances to react to, but I plead with you to consider jumping to Dimash's most recent release, 'The Story of One Sky'. I've heard that Dimash had worked on this 13 minute movie for 3 years, writing the music, lyrics and screenplay himself and it is epic and so meaningful. When you do it, I urge 2 things to save you trouble with UA-cam: put some kind of visual block over some area of the video screen to distort and link the original video from Dimash Quadaibergen Official channel in the description, for those of your viewers who haven't seen it before. Most of us will have experienced the video already, and we are here to watch your reactions and learn from your musical wisdom and of course your emotions that are brought forth. If we can see bits of the screen while it's playing for you we will remember what parts are unfolding and follow along with you. I hope that might help- it seems with this performance especially there is a great deal of trouble with people who don't screen block in some way. Others have noted this was not the Singer version (I’ll acknowledge I had not seen this version before so I’m unaware of the source nor year, other than it was likely either still 2017 or 2018 - this Dimash would have been 22 or 23. This is not from the Singer 2017 competition. Comparing the two both are similar in performance quality. Unlike some other commenters I consider the Singer performance a lot more playful. It’s a more intimate stage and he’s a lot closer to the audience. You can tell he enjoys watching their brains explode. Definitely worth a watch.
Out of the two main versions this is the worst one. Not to say its bad. It isnt. He just sounded better in Singer (pitch correction definitely helps of course) He was 23 back then.
He didn't have pitch correction when he performed this song on Kazakh TV, before he went to China. His Chinese management came close to damaging Dimash's voice from overwork, lack of rest, and constant travel. You can hear it in several of his performances from that era, including this one, which was in China during the show. I hadn't seen THIS version. I thought he only did it the one time during the "I am Singer" Chinese competition. It is just as Fantastic, but I still prefer the other...I did hear in my comments that "Vitas" the original singer, and I think he wrote it, sent a letter to the show, demanding that he NEVER sing this again! I wonder why...lol. He (Dimash) actually went 2x additional rounds- going higher. Just because he can. lol.

He did sing this on the show, but this is a different locale I haven't seen before. I thought there was only the one performance after Vitas insisted he stop performing it.. This looks more recent. I have an interesting Dimash choice for you as a vocal coach. In every concert Dimash puts the crowd through vocal exercises, taking it further and further until the crowd admits defeat.
In Prague earlier this year he found an audience that didn't quit and could actually carry a tune and Dimash ended up conducting a choir of 13,000 people, so here's the Prague Chorus for you. His reaction at the end was just priceless.

Hi William, your life in Thailand looks beautiful! This video was fun for me because I hadn't seen it ever or known it existed. This is not the performance from 'The Singer' competition but appears to be a performance or perhaps awards show in China, and I'm startled because I had heard that Vitas was so angered by Dimash's extraordinary performance on 'The Singer' that he forbade Dimash from ever singing it again. (ah, the ego can be difficult)
There's a treasure chest of remarkable Dimash performances to react to, but I plead with you to consider jumping to Dimash's most recent release, 'The Story of One Sky'. I've heard that Dimash had worked on this 13 minute movie for 3 years, writing the music, lyrics and screenplay himself and it is epic and so meaningful. When you do it, I urge 2 things to save you trouble with UA-cam: put some kind of visual block over some area of the video screen to distort and link the original video from Dimash Quadaibergen Official channel in the description, for those of your viewers who haven't seen it before. Most of us will have experienced the video already, and we are here to watch your reactions and learn from your musical wisdom and of course your emotions that are brought forth. If we can see bits of the screen while it's playing for you we will remember what parts are unfolding and follow along with you. I hope that might help- it seems with this performance especially there is a great deal of trouble with people who don't screen block in some way. Oh, one more hint- it is in english and yet it is difficult to catch the lyrics without the subtitles, so I would recommend you either read them ahead of time or watch it again for yourself with the subtitles. Gloria Wu's channel has the back-story about the song that is so sad and from a life story about a boy losing his parents in an awful way. Also you get to hear how Dimash sounds like then loosing his voice the day of the show!!! When he went on he didn’t know if he could sing. Looking close at the other contestants they where so worried about him. He lost his voice again after. Li Jian another contestant bought him a very very expensive Chinese medication for him so he could get better soon!

Episode 10 : 'Unforgettable Day' In Kazakh and I think some translation in Chinese to. If I remember correct he wrote the music to this one when he was 19 years old and lyrics by Oral-kosai Baisengir, who was a poet/lyricist father of a friend of Dimash. Also in this show another contestant "Terry Lin" that was about 51 years young here he considered Dimash a dear friend at this point. But Dimash started telling them al he was his father around episode 9 I think!! That is a big respect and love from his part of the world to call him! Terry was gladly accepting it. They are still that close and also invites each other to there concerts and sometimes singing this song in duet to. They sang it in Jackie Chang movie festival in 2019 and Jackie was choked in how good they were. Terry was known as an alien before Dimash and they have similar vocals to.

Others have noted this was not the Singer version (I’ll acknowledge I had not seen this version before so I’m unaware of the source nor year, other than it was likely either still 2017 or 2018 - this Dimash would have been 22 or 23. Love the scenery (much greener than we are experiencing in Canada currently - our autumn colours are in full swing presently. Fun reaction but agree you should see the Singer version also.

This is not from the Singer 2017 competition. Comparing the two both are similar in performance quality. Unlike some other commenters I consider the Singer performance a lot more playful. It’s a more intimate stage and he’s a lot closer to the audience. You can tell he enjoys watching their brains explode. Definitely worth a watch.

Out of the two main versions this is the worst one. Not to say its bad. It isnt. He just sounded better in Singer (pitch correction definitely helps of course)
He was 23 back then.
He didn't have pitch correction when he performed this song on Kazakh TV, before he went to China. His Chinese management came close to damaging Dimash's voice from overwork, lack of rest, and constant travel. You can hear it in several of his performances from that era, including this one, which was in China during the show.
