24:29 Another good analogy to this situation is a confined space emergency. Trenches are often considered confined spaces but some other examples of confined spaces include sewers, tanks, grain silos, and wells among others. The most common confined space emergency is when someone is overcome either by toxic gases or by a lack of oxygen. Like in a trench collapse your first instinct upon realizing that someone is in trouble may be too go inside the space to help them but this is a fatal mistake as by entering the confined space you will be exposing yourself to the same atmospheric hazard that overwhelmed the person you are trying to rescue resulting in you becoming unconscious as well meaning that now there are two victims that rescuers will have to rescue. Tragically of the countless people who die in confined spaces every year approximately 60% of them are would be rescuers who attempted to rescue someone who was trapped in the space without proper training and equipment. As mean as it may sound to leave someone especially a coworker or friend or family member in the confined space unless you are properly trained and have proper equipment such as breathing apparatus you should resist the urge to enter the confined space. Remember you can’t help anyone if you become unconscious or killed as well. The best thing you can do is to call 911 and if possible get a rescue team nearby who is properly trained in confined space rescue and has proper equipment such as breathing apparatus and prevent anyone else from entering the space. The only time you can enter the confined space to preform a rescue is if you are properly trained and have proper equipment such as breathing apparatus. If you don’t have proper training and equipment you should never enter the confined space under any circumstances.
