In the recent update, it seems that the Mogyers never declare for Hungary even though the setting is set to immediate invasion. They don't lose, they just do nothing at all.
Far as I can tell from some preliminary investigation, Dyre is real he just didn't do much historically PS "religions look normal" you say? glossing over Cathar East Francia about 200 years before the first mention of the cathars...
The character Dyre is assumed to be a real person because he appears in I think its the nestors chronicle, but he was not a real ruler of kiev or atleast there isn’t any evidence. Like another person said before it was 2 vikings on behalf of Rurik to conquer Kiev named Askold and Dir. According to the Nestor’s Chronicle, Askold and Dir were Varangians who traveled down the Dnieper River from Novgorod and seized control of Kiev in the mid-9th century. They ruled the city before the rise of the Rurikid dynasty. A fun fact about these guys is that they also lead a raid on Constantinopel in the year 860. So Dyre existing in the game is semi-historical, a viking named Dyre that lived in the slavic region did exist but he wasn’t a ruler of Kiev.
@@CrackerSnatcherHardCore both start as Norse culture and religion, they both can Varangian adventure, and character being strong is one thing, the start is another. The ability to Varangian adventure is just the ability abandon your start and move to a new region. Jarl Haesteinn is a fantastic character but an old Viking with special troops and one county in France with bad relations with the king of France isn’t that strong a start, which is why you want to move to a new region via Varangian adventure. Dyre starts off with most of a large and powerful duchy in Russia, he is a very strong start, he is not the strongest start, even in the Russian empire title, rurik starts with a whole kingdom and more resources in general, it is the stronger start in that region
They didnt made him up??? He is literally in half-historic russian legend. I mean, there wasnt anything about whole bastard story and being related to Ragnar, but he is not just "made up"
I have my doubts about whether or not he actually existed because the Chronicles aren't exactly historical. A lot more like pieces of history mixed with legendary characters and actions taken by those characters. But, Dir (Dyre) is absolutely mentioned in the documents, alongside Askold. If they're made up, it wasn't Paradox who created them, it was the original authors of those stories.
For sure one of my favorite starts in ck3. Thanks for this!

@@panose6542 I've played ck3 for some time now. I'm not surprised by these things anymore
There were 2 vikings called Askold and Dir that conquered thr city on behalf of Rurik in the 860's, so it's not ahistorical
@@maxpont8989There is also a chance it was one Person also, much like Ragnar could be many could be one. Paradox went with the one option.

Great video man
jarl dyre is probably the strongest start in the game
idk
arguably Rurik is the stronger start, more troops, immediate kingdom title, etc. but in the Rus', Dyre is probably a close second
@panose6542 it is the varagain adventure that makes him strong
