Wow, that is great value for the amount of labour involved and the amazing results. Great vid Bruce. Hope they get lots of business off the back of this. It’s just a pity they don’t have a place in Ireland.
That lad is at the top of his game. Yes it’s pricey but man even in the short time you’ve owned the bike Bruce it shows how much shit our bikes are susceptible to from the roads. I’ll definitely consider getting this done when my my new wheels arrive. Thanks for making this vid, I never knew this amount of effort went into this process. Dave.🙏🏍️🎥
As always a fantastic job he’s a pro for sure ,had mine done Wednesday two of Pete’s employees 8am till 630 pm fantastic job as always, that’s my fifth bike done by Pete’s guys can’t believe the difference it makes and cleaning on a weekly basis is a breeze . Imo worth every penny great video as well Bruce 🏍️🏍️🎉🎉
Nice to see someone doing the whole process for all to see. Not going to name the company who did my bike but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with the finish I got and less than a year on it's not been much easier to keep clean.. not even sure the ceramic coating is even still on mine. Would probably do it again but I would definitely use a different company... And would even consider supershield just because Pete was bloody brilliant and seems like a really honest genuine guy
Seeing the difference this makes you wonder why top of the range models don’t have this done at the factory. Or at least have it as another of the options. Great insight, thanks for this video.
Another superb job by Pete. Ive had a few bikes done by Pete and the transformation is always astonishing. Pete if you’re reading ive a 1300 coming soon and of course id like it done. Bruce thanks for bringing us this man.
I think Pete needs to demo this on a used K1600, just to show how good’a job he does. I would of course be able to provide him with a bike suitable to demo, free of charge 😊😊
I spent a day cleaning my GTL last year and thought I'd done a pretty good job, but after watching this video I realise I was just scratching the surface - literally! That tar removal looked good stuff. Took me ages to clean the exhausts, even though I removed them.
As a keen amateur detailer who has prepped and coated a number vehicles and bikes I can attest to the quality this work. It's all in the preparation and a bike, particularly a GS takes longer to prep than a car if you want the job done right. The spoked wheels are truly awful to clean and I would never have them again as they take as long to clean as the rest of the bike. The new bike looks superb Bruce and should be much easier to clean, not that you bother about that😂
Thanks very much for your input here Stuart, I greatly appreciate a properly qualified and experienced persons viewpoint on this. That’s great to hear 👏👍 Don’t worry, ‘Geoff’ will get a through cleaning every 6-9 months whether he needs it or not 👍😎
Couple of useful vid's between this one and part 1. A lot of useful pointers as to how to get the bike properly clean esp stuff like tar and also the hidden bits that could trap dirt and moisture. I'm not the world's greatest fan of washing bikes either but using the tips here should mean better results for the time spent ( work smarter-no pun intended- not harder ) Pete's analogy about the treatment being like painting your house sums it up well. As an aside, seeing under the seats suggests there isn't a whole lot of room for stuff now especially as the tailpiece is a bit shorter too. No doubt you will cover in future videos but tucking away things like a EzCan or dashcam DVR could be...interesting...
Thanks for the detailed reply bud and I’m chuffed to hear the vids have been of some use. Regarding the room under the seat, I was just up at “A Bike Thing” over the weekend having the prototype for the new 1300GS EZCan fitted. It’s fairly snug for sure but does fit… just 👍
This is dedication at its best, unfortunately I do not have the level of patience and dedication. Hence we have companies like this and people like Pete….if I was ever to buy a brand new bike I’d pay for this treatment. Great review bud of what really goes into prepping a bike for ceramic coating.
That level of patience and attention to detail would take me 2-3 days just to do the cleaning never mind applying the ceramic coating , well worth the cost if you can afford it. Pity bike manufacturers don't apply these ceramic coatings at the assembly stage.
WOW I will so get my next bike done, have to find out is supershield will come to south wales but its no I would travel to get this done to my bike amazing, thank you Bruce for another great video. Have to see when you come to Swansea next and join you for a ride.
What a fantastic job that guy did and great value too. Mind you, I could have wept when I seen the state of that bike after only 3 days riding! If it was me, I'd ride a winter hack until Spring and until then, keep that beautiful 1300 in a nice dry garage under a warm blanket!!!!
It’s there to ride in my opinion, I’m not precious about my bikes a obviously 🤣🤦♂️ I’d rather ride the bike I like riding and have spent my money on in any/all weathers, than ride something that doesn’t make me smile. But that’s just me, each to their own 👍
Now that’s a passion, just getting the bike to that level of pre-coating 👏.... First thing am having done to my new bike is Ceramic Coating 🥳...(Only a tad excited 🤣)... Now Mr S you will have to Keep it that clean!....Thanks for sharing....🥃🏴
As this guy is so meticulous in his cleaning & preparation I’d have thought a scissor lift bench would be an asset here, certainly safe a lot of rolling around on the deck.
Ceramic coated my 1250GSA when I was brand new and 3 years later I just needs a topper spray on and rinse off to gleam again. People don’t think to clean and prepare BEFORE they ride to keep a bike looking new
It is worth it, especially if you plan to resell or change bikes often, personally I keep my bikes until they blow up or have insane miles on them and the resell is peanuts because of the mileage so just wash and polish them myself to save money lol
My bikes will have around 60,000+ miles on them after 3yrs of finance ownership, so the resale is pitiful too. If you want your bike to look it’s best, and you want to minimise any corrosion or paint degradation, whilst minimising the amount of time and effort it takes to clean, then yes it absolutely is worth £400 in my own opinion.
@BodybuildingSteve I just PCP - no way I could afford these new top level bikes outright. I’m only renting them effectively but I get a new bike every 3-4yrs, plus they’re always covered by warranty 👍
Great job, above and beyond ... One thing, that autosol bluing solution is for stainless and titanium, dont believe it is suitable for chrome. I say that as i have been trying to find a product to improve my 1250 pipes, they are in a bad way, think the previous owner put on something that has eaten the chrome :(
Don’t live near the coast , so that’s not an issue, also we don’t put salt on our roads in winter , I I maintain my bikes regularly, so birthing falls off ( only in a crash off road here and their ) 👍😂
Being a Harley rider, now also a gsa, it gets cleaned all the time just like the hog. 🤓 chrome always looks better clean and when cuts through the air way better 😉😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻
Bruce, quick question re the Datatag ‘dots’. With them spread liberally across various surfaces, does the deep clean remove these so they have to be reapplied or are they unaffected?
To an extent yes, as Pete explains in the vid, you still have to wipe mud, dirt, salt etc off as it still will eventually etch into the ceramic coating - but the protection gives you a few days longer to do this than if it was unprotected. If you’re thinking of using acf50, then keep in mind what he says in the vids too about this. Drop Pete a line via his website if you want detailed info 👍
In Australia ( most of us are not into keeping our ADV / dual sport bikes all pretty ) we just get out and ride them , and wash the mud and dust off SOMETIMES .
Hi Bruce, awesome protection! By the way…how do you like your Metzeler tourance next 2 tires. I think I will buy them for my GS 1250. Cheers ! Marc, Quebec Canada 😉🏍
Bruce understand totally the reason to get the bike ceramic coated and the future long term benefits BUT it would have made much more sense to have got the procedure done before taking delivery!
No lie, I can’t be arsed to go out and spray the bike with snow foam I used as a daily commuter. There is road grit on the chain , which would give your guy a heart attack!
What happens with that ceramic chemical stuff when the hot parts will get hot? (And they will get super hot, especially the exhaust and probably the cylinder heads also)? The ceramic will burn, right? Won’t that burning process leave marks on those parts? Also, have you noticed and light distortions (more then before) when riding in the night time and lights hit the windscreen? Do the light “bursts”? Also, in the tank area, isn’t harder to grip the tank with your legs? And final question: if you want to stick a sticker (or maybe some knee pads) on the ceramic, will the glue stick to that ceramic? In my mind, once you ceramic coated and area, it’s all over with sticking stuff on it. Thanks! Enjoyed watching the video.
I’ve used ACF50 on all my other bikes apart from the last 2 GS’s. I obviously am not religious with my cleaning, so I’d acf50 my bikes probably 1-2 times a year, and they’d get ridden every day, pretty much 7 days a week, all through the year. There is DEFINITELY less corrosion to the bolt/screw heads on my last 2 GS’s that have been ceramic coated by Pete, then I got on my other bikes. HOWEVER, keep in mind that I also don’t ride every day anymore. I still ride throughout the year, but it’s not daily now as I predominantly work from home - unless I’m out on the bike 👍 I’m still doing around 20k miles a year, but before I was doing twice that
Exhaust oxidising from inside below ceramic layer? I think that demonstrates ceramic layer fails over time on exhausts else where does the oxygen come from? My experience of ceramic coating is its like a high quality wax coating but wears off in fairly short time. Certainly not a one off treatment.
He doesn’t say it’s a one off treatment, in fact he says what you have just said in your comment. However, there are lots of ceramic coatings available out there, but Pete uses the best one currently available which gives the highest levels of protection across the board. Listen to what he says and if you’ve got more detailed questions, just drop him a line at supershieldauto.co.uk or his socials 👍
Customer had his two VIP helicopters done with this nano shield. £7K each. You have to use their cleaning fluid which is eye watering expensive and a waste of time. Exhaust soot just impregnated the coating and it ended looked very dirty. Ended up T-cutting them.
@@teapotone it’s all the same mate, molecular nano coating. Same stuff as cars use. I’ll appreciate a helicopter exhaust above white paint is extreme, but it was a huge disappointment in my view. It did not stop corrosion which was a main reason for getting it. Keeping a aluminium helicopter on your ship is also corrosion extreme . It still rotted away. Cost millions. Washing with normal detergent removes it. I hope it serves you well pal. That’s one very nice bike you have. Ride safe fella.
@@teapotone Sorry I wasn’t clear…..I meant, for example ‘what happens to a knocked out dent which gets repainted’…..is it possible to apply the ceramic coating as a diy job OR does it have to go back to the coater for a complete re-coat of the whole panel?
Wow Bruce! That was very impressive. No more winter garage men's talk when us men get together when the females get nattering - instead more ride time I guessing? 😂😂😂

I had my Moto Guzzi ceramic coated, for no other reason than modern plastic panels only get shown the paint and lacquer.

Pete did my africa twin adventure sports, from brand new and it looked stunning when finished. So easy to wash and clean it afterwards.

Amazing 🤩 how much do you normally charge for that exceptional work?
I’ve pinned it in the first top comment 👍
Is it salt proof?
All I can say is wow
What happens when paintwork gets dented or scratched?
Then it’s dented or scratched - it’s doesn’t protect from physical damage like that to the same extent something like protective film does
@@teapotone Sorry I wasn’t clear…..I meant, for example ‘what happens to a knocked out dent which gets repainted’…..is it possible to apply the ceramic coating as a diy job OR does it have to go back to the coater for a complete re-coat of the whole panel?
@neilurquhart8622 no idea bud, just drop Pete a line and ask, he’ll be only too happy to help answer any questions 👍
Surly when the engine and exhaust get red hit like they do, sleazy the coating burn off?
Nope not this particular ceramic, it’s used by Boeing on their jet engines so gets way hotter than ours do on a bike
The non stick Finish is for adventure riders and camping frying your breakfast on the cylinders 👍😂
Wow Bruce! That was very impressive. No more winter garage men's talk when us men get together when the females get nattering - instead more ride time I guessing? 😂😂😂
I've got a feeling it would be better to do this before you take a new bike on the road. 😁
Absolutely - in an ideal world you’d get it done at the showroom before you pick it up 👍
tell me you dont offroad your GS without telling me you dont offroad your GS. looks amazing though!
I’ll happily take it offroad once I’ve got some engine bars 👍
@@teapotone niiiice!!! Safe riding 👍🏼🫡
brilliant video (David Noonan)
...and I thought TMF was OTT with cleaning....or maybe Pete is his secret love-child?
Wow that guy has some patience!
So don't buy a bike in winter, only collect it on a dry day and get this guy round right away.
I love a clean bike but the gs is the only bike i’ve owned I think looks ace covered it sht.
That’s one clean bike !! 9 hours, what’s the price 👍
£399
I’ve pinned the details in the top comment bud
I'm old school and enjoy cleaning my own bikes!! so yeah why, especially on ya PCP bike that will be returned in 3 years!
Then this isn’t for you
I totally agree with you mate.
Even at £400, that man has earnt his money.
New GS is slowly growing on me....damn it 🤦
