    I just bought my first Epiphone EJ200SCE Studio yesterday and I'm loving it! Great sounding guitar with very good action and intonation.

    These are great electro-acoustic guitars with Gibson heritage! The EJ-200 has a dual pick-up system. You pointed out the magnetic pick-up at the base of the neck, but overlooked the piezo pick-up in the bridge. The E-sonic preamp has a blend control so that you can mix the sound between the piezo and magnetic pick-ups so achieving a wide range of tonal possibilities. You have a choice of outputs so you can have the flexibility of putting the piezo through a DI into the PA and the magnetic through a guitar amp! My daughter uses hers for acoustic folk, jazz and pop/rock gigs, and can get a pretty close approximation of a 335 bridge position sound. Drawbacks? She hates the watch ‘coin’ style batteries, which don’t seem as durable as the more usual 9v systems on other electro-acoustic preamps. Also, it’s a large bulky instrument to cart around on public transport in London for open mic gigs, although, the obvious benefit is that, in small venues, the acoustic projection means she can get away with playing unplugged which is also good for street busking without an amp.

    You have the Sonic e2 pick up system. You plug one pick up to an electric Amp, and one into an acoustic Amp. You can blend the two you get a jazz, or a blues sound. Awesome system.

    Say thank you to your wife, brother,lol. That's a really great guitar, especially for the money. I've had mine for quite a lot of years and it was my main go to guitar.
    But because of this big C-19 virus I had to sell it to keep my wife at home and treat her myself. I could see you were getting a little emotional opening the box.
    It was nice to see someone who was so moved after finally getting the guitar he's been wanting for so long. Enjoy it my friend, you have a nice wife there.

    I have to be honest...for all their merits, the EJ's have nothing on their "Inspired by Gibson" counterparts. I recently got one from Sweetwater. They ain't cheap; but you really do get what you pay for...truly the next best thing to the real Gibson.

    A huge disappointment when Epiphone added the pickup and put a cutaway in the guitar, They should have left well enough alone and not try to fix something that wasn't broken. Instead of jacking up the original design of the J-200 they should have came up something completely new.

    • @EricsGuitarCorner
      @EricsGuitarCorner  3 роки тому

      I kind of agree. I still think the original J-200 was way better.

    • @funkyfender1
      @funkyfender1 3 роки тому

      You could argue that this is a tangential development and not meant to be a J200, but provide more flexibility into one instrument (check my comment in the timeline below) with twin piezo/magnetic p/up system and preamp, it is one instrument which is capable of a wide spectrum of tonal possibilities for recording and live work AND great acoustic tone and projection, akin to a J200! What’s not to like at this price point (we paid around £350 including Epiphone hard case in the UK some five years ago!). Also, the set-up was pretty much spot on at point of sale!

    I have nine guitars seven are high end Taylors very expensive guitars ,I also have a vintage 1980 Martin D-28 and it's in mint condition it's the best sounding Martin guitar I've ever had or played nd I've had a lot of Martin guitars,But my love and favorite out of all guitars are my Taylors I am a huge huge fan of Taylors,But I wanted o guitar to take to cookouts and camping so I bought a Epiphone Dove and I'm really impressed with the playability and the sound,I wouldn't put it in my Taylors or Martin as near good but for the money you can't complain,If I wasn't in the position to buy thousands of dollars for guitars I would be okay to play a Epiphone there pretty decent,But no ways near the Taylors or Martin guitars,I love all guitars but I have to be honest,I plan on buying another Epiphone because I won't take the very expensive ones outside,I keep them in a controlled humidity

    Hey Eric, I just saw your wonderfull video, and it made me smile. It was very entertaining to watch. I had this guitar until last saturday, when I sold it. I did have the 2017 version in the lighter color( not the vintage color model like yours. I saw it in a shop tho, and thought it was more beautiful than mine. Nevertheless I did not decide to buy it because of this. But man, I saw this beautiful Natural aged J-200 full sized body Epiphone " inspired by Gibson" ( just under a $1000) And I fell in love with it, it is a full solid body and it comes close to 90 % to the real McCoy. I allready ordered it and looking forward to get this. I am wondering, did you allready see one of these models? Last but not least, my old Epiphone was wonderful, nice sound and everything, action was spot on , out of the box too. But I never really liked the cutaway, the preamp on the outside too, and I didn't like the headstock so much. It was like a compromise for the guitar I really wanted, the Gibson J-200, but way too expensive. And this new Epiphone is excactly what I wanted (at least I hope and think LOL)ua-cam.com/video/fIm8UUK0h6o/v-deo.html Here is the guitar I want.
