Honestly nothing will beat Uncle Ben’s death in the first movie in 2002 Peter going “that’s my uncle!!!” and calling for his name, Ben calling Peter’s name but then not being able to get a word out and Peter breaking down in tears Good god I’m getting teary just typing how it all played out 😭 😭😭😭😭
Real Eyes realize why Spider-Man took longer to fade away in Endgame. ...His spider senses kicked in, meaning he knew his fate was coming and there was nothing he could do. That just makes that scene all the more tragic.
God, still seeing Peter’s death in Infinity War along with the other heroes still makes me cry like crazy, but Gwen’s Death along with Peter’s sacrifice in No Way Home and Uncle Ben’s death ultimately won the top spots in Spider-Man’s Worst Things in his life moments. And I was also surprised by the fact the symbiote takeover was #20, I thought that it was one of top ones.
Regarding his parents turning out to be androids in a posthumous plot by Harry, the aftermath of that horrific reveal also was compounded by May having a heart attack and going into a coma before Peter could catch his breath. He experienced a mental breakdown where he could not endure being Peter Parker and decided to cut himself off from all tie to his true self. Mary Jane leaving town for a while while all this was going on didn't help matters either. It took him months to recover from this, but during that time he was a dark, brooding, and violent version of himself. He was always in costume and only returned to the apartment for food. It was only a near death experience from an engineered virus and the prospect of fatherhood that made Peter finally snap out of it.
My favorite tragic moment I actually cry is the death of his Uncle Ben from Tobey Maguire's Trilogy. I was hock to much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland's Spider-Man with the saddest moment He were snap out of existence by Thanos, then losing Tony Stark/Iron Man in Endgame, and the shocking moment in No Way Home with the coast of saving the people he loved.
In the 90s animated series, you can hear the VA's anguish and pain when Hydroman cloned Mary Jane and she turns to steam. That should've been an honorable mention imo.
If Marc Webb doesn't return for TASM3 Then Sony should let PHIL LORD and CHRIS MILLER in charge They can save it from AVI ARAD, like they did with SPIDER-VERSE
153: I don’t know what’s worse. Loosing a uncle, a friend, a girlfriend, or your aunt Tobey Maguire: It was awful Andrew Garfield: Heartbreaking Tom Holland: Bad & got sympathy
I honestly thought that the Marvel Zombies line of comics depicted Spider-Man at his lowest. After killing and eating Mary Jane AND Aunt May, once the hunger starts to die down, zombified spidey starts to realize what he did… and he feels tremendous guilt
The part in NWH where Andrew catches MJ and you see him feeling something… that fucking got me. That movie honestly had one of the best written screenplays I’ve ever read.
What hurts about Gwen's death is that she wasn't supposed to die. Stan Lee had to go to London and told Gerry Conway to write Spider-Man for some time. Stan only found out that Gwen is dead after he came back to US.
I think another great tragedy in Peter Parker's life is the loss of his best friend Harry Osborn. After discovering the green goblin was in fact his father Norman after watching his death, Harry removed the costume and swore vengeance on Spider-Man. It got worse when he discovered that Spider-Man was, in fact, his roommate and best friend Peter Parker. Harry assumed the mantle of The Green Goblin and conceived of an elaborate trap. He kidnapped Thompson, Mary Jane Watson, and May Parker, placed them in different locations across New York with explosives over their heads, and forced Peter to play a sadistic guessing game as to who he couldn't bear to lose the most. After correctly guessing it was his aunt, Peter easily defeated Harry who didn't have any powers at the time and was committed to an insane asylum. Although he was treated and experience the same partial amnesia that his father had at times, keeping Peter identity safe, he built his life again, marrying Liz Allen and having a son he named after his father. He and Liz also named Peter and Mary Jane Normie's godparents. However, his old demons would arise again and took an upgraded version of the serum that granted his father his powers, putting him on the same physical level as Spider-Man. But it also made him increasingly emotionally unstable, prone to violent outbursts. He was incarcerated once after a very bizarre "family dinner" that he orchestrated, but was released when the authorities believe that he was longer a danger. They were severely wrong on that one. He also increased his revenge scheme beyond just Spider-Man by purchasing real estate and planning on luring all of Norman Osborn's former enemies into it in order to blow it up. Mary Jane tried to talk him out of this insane cycle, but the Spider-Man showed up and they engaged in battle. The goblin activated the bomb without knowing that Mary Jane and his son Normie were inside the house. Peter, gravely injured, successfully convinced Harry to get Mary Jane and his son out of the house, and then, at MJ's urging, got Peter out as well before collapsing from the fatal toxic effects of the serum he took. He and Peter finally made peace in the ambulance on the way to the hospital before he passed away. The tragedy of all of that is the fact that Harry never knew that his father was actually alive and let his son slip into madness that ultimately cost him his life.
I remember that in a Top 10 Spider-Man Comics video that in Spider-Man: Blue it is revealed that both he and Mary Jane did something for Gwen on Valentine’s Day but because she was deceased and their closest friend, they will never have a chance to tell her personally
Honourable mention, SPOILERS: Scarlet Spider’s betrayal and revealling his identity to Doc Ock and going after Aunt May. Source: Ultimate Spider-Man TV show.
I thought Mary Jane’s watery death would be on this list because Peter’s blood curdling scream and calling out Mary Jane’s name is both horrifying and depressing.
I think the Superior Spider-Man Saga should have a higher ranking. Because Peter died in Octavius body, but because Otto had Peters memories, Peter was able to materialize from his memories, but had to watch hopelessly how Octavius destroyed his life. He was even desperate, that he tried to hinder Octavius, when he operated a little girl out of the fear to be found and destroyed, which also happened. Then he was revived again with the few memories, that Octavius had actively seen, but was just a hollow part of his former self, since most of his memories were gone.
Here’s a good one to add. There was a What If comic where the premise is, Green Goblin stole the Infinity Gauntlet, and one of the things he did was, not kill Spider-Man, but instead sent him to some purgatory where he has to continuously relive Gwen’s death over and over again.
One of the stupid criticisms I’ve heard against MCU Spider-Man from the toxic Spider-Man fandom is that he doesn’t struggle and deal with hardships and pain, and yet this list proves how wrong they are.
Since the Venom Suit brings out the negativity within Peter (Aside from the power and confidence boost) What would happen if he didn't take it off in Spider Man 3? (I meant the church bell scene due to the sound being Venom's weakness)
