My dad had a facelifted Mk1 Twingo with the 16 valve engine. It was loud and had a slow semi automatic gearbox but that didn't matter because it was simply fun and practical, we had to sell it because the gearbox eventually gave out but that little car has become one of my favorite cars of all time and i would love to own one myself in the future, it still hurts that we had to sell my dad's Twingo, it was a beautiful little car with so much character.
We had a phase 1 Twingo. Yellow, with factory alu wheels, powerstering, leather interior, ac, spoiler, special carpets, woorden gearshift in matching yellow and airbag. It was the first full spec (including all accecories) Twingo in Belgium and that problebly remained. Phase 2 (face lift) had the initial Paris version, which was alsof loaded with options. Love to own one again.
I had a '02 Twingo Initiale Paris with all the works on it, including the 2nd generation "easy" gearbox. It was a fun little car, though it suffered too many slightly too annoying electrical issues related to the transmission. It was a wonderful little car though, easy to park, cheap to run, hilariously spacious boot when you needed it (yes you can fit an Ikea Klippan couch in the boot of a Twingo). Best part about the robotic-manual gearbox is that it does the whole rev matching on downshifts. So if you pull up hard at a traffic light it makes all the little boy racers in their Polo's and Civics look at you very confused as a Twingo furiously works its way down through 4 gears to stop. Sadly after over 19 years and almost 300.000km it burned valves in 3 cylinders and it just wasn't worth fixing it all up again. I loved that little car. And anyone who claimed it was not a manly car, quickly shut up after being told I didn't need to compensate for other things by driving a "manly" car.

I drove 17 different cars in my life and there is noothing you can compare TWINGO with. It is not the best, or the fastest, or whatever comes to anyones mind but it is cheap, simple and fun to drive. It does just what it was built to do, with smile on the face. And here we are almost 40 years later still talking about it. I miss days when you could by a new car like this. Today with all SUV mania and all the electronics that takes all fun of driveing the car. With this thing you could go to any local garage to fix it. Not the case with my VOLVO, great car but too complicated. And it is a car that you love it or you hate it. I am the one who will forever love it. Would love to see simple electrict version of it, without all unnecessary bulshit built in it.
I bought a 2007 mk1 twingo a year ago specifically because its impossible to take serious as a car, its just too quirky. But damn is it impressive! With a large foldaway top and 16v engine its a blast to drive on country roads in the summertime. Its narrow tires make it huge fun to throw it around corners and feel it doing these little four wheel drifts, while the tiny 1.2 75hp engine has a happy eagerness to it that just makes driving fun at all speeds. I took it offroading multiple times because why not, and drove it like a maniac on muddy, steep tracks it shouldn't possibly be able to traverse but it just kept going and going no problem. The space inside is just insane for such a small car, and the large windows provide excellent visibility in all directions. But the best part is that, despite its official top speed of 168 km/h, I took it up to 183 km/h on the German autobahn, with a boot fully loaded with heavy stuff. A car is good when it put a smile on the drivers face, and this one does it every single time. Its just pure distilled fun, and nothing else.

When I was a child for some reason I disliked the twingos... probably because of its humanoid face, it was frightening me. Growing up, a friend of mine had one and it was the first time I was able to escape the suburbia hellscape to go to the shop buy alcohol with her lol (I had no driving license). These were my first car rides with someone my age. With time it became reallt a symbol of those "one little French cars". I love the Twingo now because all the constructors do nowadays are dumb SUVs for the rich. I ride a bicycle to work. Small accessible cars would be preferable...
"Who would ever want to own this weird little car?" It was my first car, I drove until it broke apart under my very cheeks, and I would do it all over again any day.
A Remarkable little car,I rarely had to work on one myself as a Former Car Mechanic But I did work on a lot of Clio's that wasnt much fun thanks to some Variants been very funny designed.
I like how they all rust in the exact same spot it seems. Mine has rusted it's front fender mostly at the bottom front right wheel, but under the doors mine is the same as yours. Btw buy a sporty filter it will sound insane on full throttle but then be quiet rest of the time which is excellent. 4:30 TOTI KNOF it's meant to be pressed when you have your full lights on for example, and then you rotate the lights so they're in the off position and when you turn the car on the lights will be fully on but you don't have to rotate the thing for the lights. That doesn't make sense but I'm not typing it again

Makes me miss mine a bit. I have two motorcycles and no need for a car, but it was hella fun to redline it all day everyday and still not go stupendously fast. When i bought my bike, it just sat there for weeks on end, becoming a sad little car. It ended up being the roadtrip car for a group of americans who discovered it's cheaper to buy a Twingo here, and sell it at the end of their trip, than to rent a car.
you should be hooning around. These have great intake sound when you open the air filter. MAD as these don't have a mass airflow sensor so no dampening. Great! Also the rear muffler is quite restrictive but without one it gets loud but in a fun way. Also don't fit giant wheels. These engines have little power and you'll feel any gram of added rotational mass that needs to be accelerated. Coil overs are good though. Cheap fun.
At first when I was searching for my first car, my dad recomended me twingo 1, but when I saw how it looks like, I disliked it, but now that design is growing on me, and by the way, my first and current car is megane 1 hatchback lift is someone's wondering.
I remember 15 years ago these and also the ford KA's used to be extremely cheap. You could get them for as little as 60€. These cars were popular among teens as they used to drive them drunk and without a license. These cars were nicknamed as stunt man cars as drunk teens used to roll them over trying to recreate Tokyo drift on a gravel road.
As someone who lives in a country that does not have Renault Twingoes, and who also likes this car, it is great to see more information about this beautiful cute little car

Dude. I've got the same engine in my Kangoo, and it looks identical down to the oil leaks XD. Anyway, love the Twingo, it's incredible how much room fits in such a little car. And with the big engine it can be really fun to drive.

I'm an American who moved to Germany in 2019. We don't have these in the states. I never knew they existed, and yet even I want one or maybe two in my life.
Yeah, they tend to grow on people.
I own all the different generations of twinge and agree the 1st gen is the best
"Who would ever want to own this weird little car?"
It was my first car, I drove until it broke apart under my very cheeks, and I would do it all over again any day.
A Remarkable little car,I rarely had to work on one myself as a Former Car Mechanic
But I did work on a lot of Clio's that wasnt much fun thanks to some Variants been very funny designed.
Yep, I know that first hand, my first car was a 1999 Clio 1.6 8v. Had some power but wasn't nice to work on.
You gave them real care and love.
That was my first car :).
super high quality vid and with established quips youd only expect from a veteran, keep going!
Hey man, would you like to join the discord server? I have another friend there who also has the button in his twongi, he tried what you said but it didn't work. Think you could explain it again to us?
@@Zakis_wonderful_world send link or something ? I can try, it's apparently what the button does but mine doesn't do that but I haven't tried it in any other twingo
@@gaspermedved5803 I hope this works discord.gg/WYAzSAEVPE
this channel is a blessing
Makes me miss mine a bit. I have two motorcycles and no need for a car, but it was hella fun to redline it all day everyday and still not go stupendously fast. When i bought my bike, it just sat there for weeks on end, becoming a sad little car.
It ended up being the roadtrip car for a group of americans who discovered it's cheaper to buy a Twingo here, and sell it at the end of their trip, than to rent a car.
Awesome purchase. I drove one from Switzerland to Finland with loud ass exhaust. Pure torture for one week and 2500km, but i still enjoyed it.
Damn, that's amazing.
you should be hooning around.
Cheap fun.
I feel like this is a type of car Miis from Wii Sports Resort would ride in
hahahahhaahhah
Yeah this is officially my new favorite channel. You blended my two favorite things together. Cars and video games.
that car looks so fun to drive, I want one
Glad I found your channel, really like your content!
Thanks for the kind words!
Best design feature on a Twingo is the hazard light switch right on top of the dash.
Looks like a sunburnt Diglet hiding.
oh my god... this is my new fav. chanel :D
awesome content guys :D
What a machine!
I really appreciated all the Pokémon songs your have put in the video
Absolute nailbiter episode!
My grandmother and my grandfather had one each, i had one for two years till this march^^ Funny car but very loud inside
twingos are the cutest tiny car we ever made so fun to drive, confort and cheap at the time
Easy choice to subscribe. I love the vibes here.
Thanks so much :)
This is like the episode where Hammond tricked Clarkson into buying a shitty car while May got a car that's even worse on his own because he's freaking May.
Wow finally yt recommended some good stuff! Great video!
Fit/Jazz is the king of compacts but the Twingo is also very fun
I really love this car, there's something about it man.
I remember my family owning 2 twingos at one point, such a shame they sold them ;-;
NOW IM ON A HUNT TO FIND THE INITIALE PARIS TWINGO >:D
oooh the Initale Paris, that's the creme de la creme!
Yeee, i do have a 03 laguna initiale paris, its a really nice car. Still tho gotta get the twingo :3
0:04 No that would be the 205
I love the first generation twingo
Simple cute car, something we're not having anymore
Congratulations, you have successfully made me desperately want a little hon hon of my own.
But they never sold them here, so I can't have one. 😢

The button may be a modification from the previous owner for E85 starter/cold start, many do this on old cars.
That's one hell of an air box...
I wish we had them in the UK, reminds me of the MK1 Clio I learned to drive in.
Dude. I've got the same engine in my Kangoo, and it looks identical down to the oil leaks XD. Anyway, love the Twingo, it's incredible how much room fits in such a little car. And with the big engine it can be really fun to drive.
I keep saying, Twingo’s are going to be valuable collection cars soon, and every year it doesn’t happen. But soon, one day….
I don’t know why but i stayed the whole video. Greetings
The twinko breaks quite a bit, true. But you cant hate that cute little car
The twingo is an cool cars, and also looks lika an happy frog hehe
I have a tip for when the car doesn't start
Before u check under the hood for a problem press the one button on the key twice and then try to starlit again. I don't know how and why it works but for 2 of my friends always do this when the twingos don't start
best small eurocar EVER no contest
I'm an American who moved to Germany in 2019. We don't have these in the states. I never knew they existed, and yet even I want one or maybe two in my life. I feel like the Twingo is to cars what a scooter is to motorcycles. It's not for serious enthusiasts. It's for people who enjoy things and don't take things to seriously.
It was a magical time when Ford Ka, Renault Twingo and Toyota Yaris all came out.
