Actually one of the craziest upsets I've seen in a long time. Salt is arguably the best falcon vs Peach rn, the other one being wizzy, but I've seen Salt absolutely wreck lloD and Trif last time they played, crazy how good Sirmeris played. Crazy reads, crazy good movement in order to stay safe, and the punish game was insanely strong. Great tech chases and great dash dancing too.
Yeah I felt like Sirmeris Punish Game was just much more on point and Salt was just trying to be flashy at times when he should’ve just ended the game with an easy Dair/Knee at the end.
@@MAXINE90000 You're right, it's not a great sample size. Also, I think (and this feels weird to say) Salt could have punished peach a bit harder/more effectively at times. BUT: the main points I can think of for the argument that Falcon beats Peach are that his Nair's supposedly invalidate her, and he can combo floaties. This set, Sirmeris did a great job of demonstrating that Peach actually can play effective neutral vs Falcon and his nairs (and again, I agree, did a great job). This set also showed just how much Falcon has to work to KO Peach. I don't recall how effective Sirmeris's edgeguards were, but Peach destroys Falcon when he's offstage. Basically, I think this set did a good job of demonstrating what I've thought about the matchup for quite a while. I'm not just trying to say "Peach won, therefore Falcon loses this matchup." It's more along the lines of "this is a great example of why the matchup is (IMO) even, and how Peach should play it."
@@penz1297 You have clearly thought about this matchup as deep as I have, warms my heart to see. I'm a Peach main in Toronto which has insane PR Falcons like N0ne & Matteo as well as Goosekhan & Zaza who I have had the opportunity to play lots with, just for reference. You are right about Falcon Nair being tough to deal with, but that is an oversimplification of the neutral at this level of play...it's more about Falcon's overall reach with his hitboxes and mixup capability. Meris played beautifully around Salt's neutral to win, and Peach vs Falcon has always been somewhat even in punish. Meris had an excellent punish though, and Salt's punish being mid is a bit of an understatement..Meris' defense is quite good and he was playing hot so it's tough to say but when Falcon is really beating Peach it's a matter of 0-deathing off every grab or opening, which Falcon can totally do with proper weak hits and positioning. This is definitely a good example of how Peaches should play, but if I know the Falcons, do not be surprised if Salt makes this look unwinnable again after having some time to think on this set. I'm a believer in Peach vs Falcon too! I cave and pick her despite having learned Fox and Falcon and Sheik..but what I'm trying to say is what happened at this tourney was incredibly deep and complicated. Meris seemed to have a plan for just about everything Salt had in neutral, not just nair. Salt will likely adapt by starting to jump less and dashdance grab much more, which is IMO how you really destroy Peach. Anyways sorry for the text wall 😹
@@MAXINE90000 Lol, no worries about the text wall, I enjoyed the read ;P I'm definitely open to being convinced if I start seeing more Falcons close out stocks consistently against Peach. It feels difficult to do so though (unless your landing juicy knees on Yoshi's or something, since it can be very difficult to deny her return to stage). I think it comes down to how well Peach players can control the match once they enter advantage state/have Falcon on the backfoot, since his start-up animations are not the greatest. IIRC, there was a spot on the Yoshi's match where Salt wasn't getting hit, but was still stuck trying to escape pressure and eventually got punished. Peach's dashdance from close-up is scary. I think it's that vs how well Falcon can utilize the space on the stage and his speed to keep himself at a mid-range where he can threaten a little more safely. The irony is that Yoshi's is good for Falcon KOing Peach, and FD is the reverse, but in neutral it feels like it favours the opposite IMO.

Fuck it, super smash bros melee in a church
In the Smash GODS name we pray. AMEN!
LMFAO love this
Playing melee on CRTs in a church in front of a crowd in 2024 is just hilarious to me but I love it
As a Christian I thought this was so dope, anytime I’m chilling in church I always think of how awesome churches make as venues
13:44 the double jump read and Jorge's call makes this so memorable in my head
The announcers were great this set! Actually talking about and reacting to the game, good calls, high energy, professional but not square
15:59 😂
Salts movement is just insane
Go Salt!!!!
4:58 Hi borg!
Lets go sirmeris
So, can we finally agree that this is an even (or at least very close to it) character matchup? Fun set to watch!
One person doing it doesn't make it even 😭 this matchup is fucked sirmeris is just goated

No obviously falcon has advantage....
sirmeris got old school hbox vibes never approaching
peach should just approach from the corner when a player like salt has center stage with the fastest character in the game so true
The thing with peach vs high/top tiers is they usually set the pace of the match.
Salt is such a baddie 🥵
No
no…
@@mrt8bit692 a baddie with a fatty (c*ck)
salt ma boi! he's the best capt falcon in the world, you go man!
