I am one of those guys that bought a 2017 Vaquero new. No regrets at all. This is my 95th motorcycle in 44 years of riding and for the money it can't be beat. I have owned multiple Harleys, BMW's, Golwings(F6B) and for an old guy with bad knees the Vaquero hits a home run especially when you figure in the cost. I gave up finding a used one after missing the last one SRK cycles had for sale. And thanks for spreading the word!!! I look forward to every new video you guys make!!!
Eric, I started riding in Feb 1974 and I have owned 45 bikes (all large street legal bikes, no dirt bikes). I thought I was a "Bike Whore", but you must be saluted too for your "Bike Whoredom." I am looking at a 2003 BMW K1200LT, do you have an opinion of them Obie Won?
A Babbit I owned one for a few years. I put about 25,000 miles on it. My only issues were with the brakes. very expensive repairs!!! If it's been cared for and ridden go for it. It seems that BMW'S hate to sit in storage!!!
There are two of them where I live (Northern CA), one with 22,000 miles and the other with 19,000 miles. Both are in very good condition. Asking price $3,000. I read about final drive and rear brake problems on these bikes so I am slow to purchase one of them.... I have 4 bikes in the garage right now (GL1500, HD Road King, HD Heritage Springer and Triumph Thunderbird 1600 ABS). I want to try a Touring BMW and the K1200LT with its flying brick seems to be a good deal... I also heard that sitting makes the main seal and clutch slave cylinder leak on to the dry clutch rendering it useless. Any experience with those issues?
Just rode one at a demo event yesterday after watching this. The nimbleness compared to the other fairing bikes ive rode is very noticeable. I usually dont like bikes with fairings cause of the extra weight but it aint even bad on this. This bike rocks its way cooler than a harley imo. Much less pretentious!
@Thomas B I'm a police motor trained officer (not currently riding full time for my dept anymore) I learned on a HD because of it. They are rattle cans for sure. I love big cruisers aka "road couches" more than anything. I ride a 07 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe another big road couch. I love its V4 motor and that fact that it doesn't vibrate you to death. Sure, it has some vibration, but not like the HD bikes. I ride long trips on mine (did a trip in August from DC to NJ to GA in a week) and the bike is simply less fatiguing than the HD bikes, rides better with it air adjusted suspension too. Not knocking the HD riders, I only find a miniscule amount of the are dickheads who think they are the shit because they have one. They usually ride off duckwalking or making 80ft U-turns Heck, I've owned HDs myself over my 26 years of riding. The Yamaha has been the best ride and most reliable bike I've owned, 68k miles of reliability and enjoyment. HD's success is that they know how to market, and marketing sells anything whether its inferior or superior. The Japanese bike makers have turned out some superior cruisers in some cases that didn't sell because they aren't Masters of Marketing to the level HD is.
@Thomas B Yeah they are beasts. The Royal Star tour deluxe uses the Vmax motor. Yamaha de-tuned it to give it big touring cruiser characteristics. It makes 105 hp wish they left it at about 140 hp. The bike has good power but that'd would have been fun for sure to surprise people.
I bought a 21' brand new this year (4/22) w/only 1mi on it. Mines metallic grey w/maroon trim. I like it. Added the factory seatback/luggage rack & power outlet, also bought a new windshield & horn for it. May add more.
I've got a 2016 that I bought new in the crate for $13,500 or so. Fantastic bike overall. Reliable, ABS, stereo, cruise control, handles pretty well. Only gripes are the side open saddlebags (would prefer top-open like the Harley), limited aftermarket support, and the factory tuning sucks. After putting an aftermarket tune on it from Ivan's Performance Products however, it runs flawlessly. I've had (or still have) Harley, Victory, and Indian cruisers as well. The Vaquero is a lot of bike for the money. If you don't care what the side of the tank says, it is well worth saving the $10,000+.
I own a 2016. The am/fm radio reception sucks, and the front speakers aren’t loud enough at highway speeds. The bike rides great for a heavy motorcycle but it’s a beast whenever you need to back it up or push it. But I like it, it’s a great ride and good value
Went for a ride today on my 2018 Vaquero....talked to two guys.....one with a Venture and one with a Road Glide.......both loved my bike and said they were inches away from buying one...???....anyway, love my bike...love the price and the quality......can't beat this bike for the price for sure.......and room to spare to spend some money on accessories......
Wanted a Harley but not...Never heard of a Vaquero til coming across this video. Found 2 within 100 miles of home and bought mine same weekend. Love the content!
Can you even imagine living near SRK Cycles. Some random motorcycles always speeding in the neighborhood, and words of wisdom on sticky notes littering the side of the road. Must be hell on Earth.... Lol
I have one bought used but its one of the best bikes i ever owned. I started on sports bike but with age i needed something sitting up, best bike for the money....
And when you figure in having to fix design flaws HD built in or throw out parts to get better parts for the premium priced HD, is why I'm looking at Kawasaki and Yamaha.
According to the owners manual, mine weighs over 900lbs. So yeah, it's heavy but it handles really nice. I drove mine to work on cheesegrater pavement for over 2mo here in NH, handled it awesome. Felt it less than when I rode my 79' GL1000 & my 79' KZ1000 ST on similar roads. I've put almost 1,800mi on it so far, thinking of getting stupid and having the ECU "Flashed" for more HP, Torque, & better MPG. There's a guy here on YT that does it a lot w/references.
They are hard to find Used because they don't get Traded. People hang onto them because they are the best Bang for the Buck out there. I do expect Kawi to begin the redesign process soon. The 900 hasn't needed to change since they were introduced in '06. Same with the Voyager in '10 and Vaquero in '11. Kawi tends to leave stuff alone until absolutely necessary because they design them pretty dang good from the jump.
I hope not, they'd all just be chasing the Goldwing. I hope they keep the Bruiser-Cruiser performance over feature focused thing they got going with the Vaquero. At the reasonable price point they have now too..
Theres word that Kaw is going to stop making cruisers... which i hope is not true. I have a Voyager (cool color blk on blk with green pinstripe) and a Nomad. Absolutely love their bikes.
Ive wanted one of these for a long time. I was in the used market and they really do disappear to quickly. The bike I ended up taking home was a 1400GTR and I love it but still kinda wish I had a Vaquero
My new bike is running hot. I check the oil and it was low. Wasn't touching the dip stick at all. Changed oil and brought it up to level. Still running less hot. ? What else can I do
Sean, I love your videos I watch SRK Cycles all the time as well as Bikes and Beards. I'm from Kentucky and I've loved the Vaquero at first sight which was about 4 years ago 2015 and it is my dream bike 100%, I've owned several bikes but currently own a 2010 Phantom and I love it. But my next bike will be a Vaquero for sure. Keep it up brother and I hope the best in life for you ✌😎
My friend, can you tell what motorcycle is more comfortable and handle, between this Kawasaki here and Honda VTX 1800N. I just bought that Honda, but I’m so sad about how to feel. The suspension so hard, and the bike so heavy.
I check these out at my local shop frequently. Brand new they average $9000 cheaper fully loaded than a basic Street Glide & the Road Glide runs a couple Grand more than the Street.
cahokia33 an absolute must!!! It eliminated all the popping, heat issues and jerky throttle control. I knew buying it that Ivans upgrades was absolutely needed. It's the best $350.00 you could spend on the Vaquero.
Ivan is great had my 2016 FZ09 ECU reflashed it runs so much cooler in traffic and throttle is much better, also had him re-flash the ECU on my 2013 Z1000 as well as remapped my power commander and bought some Yoshimura cans to go with my Akrapovic full exhaust, transformed it into the smoothest throttle action and Hp went from 123 rwhp to 148 rwhp.
Shawn, I’m looking for one it can be Voyager Vaquero or Nomad But let me tell you not because I’m old (55) but because they are affordable and has the BIG 1700 engine! If you have one that’s 2013 to 2016 and under $11k and no more than 25k miles. Oh yes, could you stop comparing then to the HD Good day!!
Fuel-injected 52-degree 1,700cc V-twin engine delivers high torque levels with a powerful and distinct V-twin feel Electronic cruise control system can be activated in 3rd gear or at any speed between 30mph and 85mph Kawasaki Advanced Coactive-braking Technology (K-ACT II) ABS helps ensure ideal brake force distribution for confident braking Stylish, frame-mounted fairing keeps steering feel light by directing aerodynamic forces into the chassis Feature-rich, AM/FM/WB audio system with iPod® and SiriusXM® radio compatibility Hard, lockable and sealed, side-opening saddlebags provide nearly 10 gallons of storage space each
I bought a 2016 Vaquero off the showroom floor, I love the bike, I installed Cobra tri-flo slip ons they sound awesome, but within 300 miles (800 miles on bike) I was cruising down a back country road about 65 mph and it started losing power and missing. The bike died and would not fire back up so I had towed to the dealership and they assessed it to fowled plugs due to the slip-ons, wow 800 miles on the bike and changing plugs already, and they told me I wouldn't have to, because they were slip-on pipes. Well $160.00 later they said I had to re-tune my fuel management system, that's $300+ dollars. Just letting everyone know don't believe anyone that tells you that you don't need to tune your fuel system on a Vaquero. I love my Vaquero by the way
Shaun can you help me on info. I bought my first motorcycle. I new 2012 Yamaha Raider S Raven with 1 mile from a Yamaha Dealership in south FL. I live in south Louisiana so they said I had to get my own shipping. I did my searching and emailing through Cycle Trader and some dealerships told me they could ship to any Yamaha Dealership for $500, some told me I had to get my own shipping and suggested Uship. I asked my local Yamaha dealership if they could do the shipping and get my bike since its from one Yamaha dealership to another and the salesmen told me it was ILLEGAL for a dealership to ship a bike to a customer unless THEY sold the bike. Since I paid for the bike already they said they couldn't ship it. I was willing to pay for the shipping because they would do all the work, so I wouldn't have to list it on Uship, wait on bids, and accept bids and hope everything went good, compared to it being on a dealership truck and safe and sound in a timely fashion. Then I told the dealer I bought it from that I may come to FL and drive it home, but he said he can not release the bike unless I pay his sales tax and register the bike with a plate, I explained that I ALREADY paid my local and state sales taxes, (10.5%) and he said he could not release the bike to me only a shipper unless it paid his sales tax. My question is as a dealership can you get a bike that is already bought from another dealership even though you are not selling it?
Yeah this all sounds super dumb what they are putting you through. I think they are confusing policy with laws. Once you have paid for the bike the bike is yours. I would just get a shipper from uship or haul bikes to bring you the bike.
Thanks Srkcycles. I have a few listings on Uship open right now, so as soon as the bike is released I will take a bid around $400 to get it. I had bids as much as $1k, $750, 650, $550, and $400. So I will wait for around $400 or I will pay my friend to go and get it. He has a flat bed and should be able to do it. HaulBikes takes up to a month but at least 2 weeks is what they quoted me for. I emailed and called, HaulBikes, Motorcycle Shippers, Shipping Masters, and Ship A Car INC. They are all about $700 and take from 2 weeks to one month. With Uship it should be around $400 and take 3 days. Its 817 miles from bike to my house. But thanks for the info Srkcycles. If you had a new Black Raider S I would have gotten it from you. If I wouldn't have found this deal before my credit union finished the paper work I had test drove a 12' Black Raider S with 5K miles for 7350 out the door tax, title, and license. So yeah I am second guessing every day that goes by. If I can't seem to get it shipped I may call up that dealer, (he's an hour from my house) and if he still has the bike I may tell the other dealer to give me my money back and go pick up that other Raider and just drive it home.
I believe those bikes only come in one color per year. I was gonna get that bike, but they tend to have performance problems and have to end up getting the CPU remapped. I ended up with the street glide in the color I wanted and very satisfied.
I don't think its so much performance problems as much as the factory tune leaves a LOT of room for improvement. My nomad ran great bone stock, but it did seem under powered for the engine size. Its a beast after I had mine tuned along with air intake and exhaust.
Kawasaki runs most of their bike rich from the factory. First mods any rider will do are intake and pipes that will usually bring your air fuel back down to where it needs to be. A Power Commander will allow you to tune air fuel and ignition at 100 rpm increments.
Of all the big V-twin cruisers out there that I lifted off the side-stand the Vaquero felt the heaviest, by far. But I've never heard anybody else mention it so maybe I'm nuts. But aside from the weight I'm very impressed with this bike. My last bike was a used 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic and it was a very decent bike so I have no doubts that the Vaquero would follow suite. But then again I was spoiled by the roomy stretched out 1600 Classic. and I felt that the newer Vulcan 1700s were a bit more crammed. A used Vaquero is certainly a killer deal, the original owners payed a fairly high price when they bought them new and then took a pretty big depreciation hit when selling them, buy one used and save save save! I especially liked the looks of the hot looking orange Vaquero. I got rid of my Vulcan 1600 Classic and went with a used 2014 Honda F6B with ABS last summer and that was a real eye-opener, man I LOVE this bike!
29He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. 30Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men stumble and fall, 31but those who wait on יהוה renew their strength, they raise up the wing like eagles, they run and are not weary, they walk and do not faint.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the dashboard of this bike, with its emphasized speakers looks like a goofy beach-boom-box from the late 80s. Sorry, but YIKES!
own a 2016 and it is amazing lean angle to straight line performance off the charts fun maint so low very dependable parts prices normal overall best cruiser bagger ever......BTW this guy cant ride just saying ...he rides like old people hump ...slow sloppy lol :P
I had the Harley Turds... ride like a tractor and rattle like shake and bake!!! put your hard eared acorns in a Harley and still have a sorry brain shaker!!!!!
PEACE ON EARTH Dudes !,talking to Mr.nasty & mr.mathew of course ,,.ill buy you guys lunch ,but y All have to eat at the same table.,LOL,(The table we eat together on is like the ROADS WE travel), WE ALL like to Ride Bikes. Different Bikes R like diff.women,,they all good !♡.ITS NOT WHAT YOU RIDE ,IT WHERE YOU GOING !,,《,did eye say dat rite??¿¿》,lol..
@Some Dude 30% from a flash and an air filter? I find that very hard to believe but anything is possibly I guess.Typically you see a 10-15hp jump from a stage 1 upgrade. If you want more you usually need a cam upgrade or bigger jugs.
Please just go & ride the bike & then read a pre-prepared commentary as a voice over when you get back. Have you watched this video ? Have you heard how much rubbish you're talking? C'mon man - up your game.
Dude you’re embarrassing yourself on UA-cam representing a Kawasaki... You’re sad....There’s at least fifty motorcyclists here at this event laughing at you, right now dude😂
Nasty forYou I’ve never seen one of these on the side of the road being worked on. Seen a ton of Harley’s pulled over trying to get fixed. Harley closed anymore plants yet?
Matthew Yearber Exaggeration at best, you sound like a Democrat, 😂 Ton of Harley’s , that’s a lot little man..🤣 Again you’re embarrassing yourself on a public forum... And do your homework...Kawasaki doesn’t even have a manufacturing plant...stupid
Nasty forYou oh my bad I forgot that they plant Kawasaki seeds and they sprout out of the ground into dependable motorcycles. And also they have two pants; one in Lincoln, Nebraska and another in Maryville Missouri. Strike one. 26% of all new Harley’s will need a major repair in 4 years compared to 11% for Japanese bikes. So yeah it’s comparing one out of four bikes to one out of ten. And that’s a study done by consumer reports from 2008-2014 if you’d like to fact check me. Strike two. Careful old man you are beginning to look like a normal ignorant Harley rider. But hey they won’t be around in 25 years so why even argue it. Strike three. It’s been fun but a little too easy. And if you’re a typical Harley rider most people are prolly smaller than than you’re wife. Even me being 200lbs at 6 foot. I’m probably smaller than she is. If you have a wife. Otherwise I’m sure I’m smaller than your beer gut and ego.
Nasty forYou Yeah that’s what I thought. What am I uninformed about? If you’d be so kind to point it out and give specifics I’d love to be educated. But you can’t. Unless you are going to go against a 6 year survey on 12,000 motorcycles.Old fool. You want to bring some facts or just keep trying to insult me because your argument has no sustenance?
I’m 22 learned on a sport bike tried one of these and I loved it so much I saved up and bought one. I love it even more now than the day I bought it.

Eric, Shingletown near Lake McCumber. We are neighbors!!!
I just turned 60k on my 2011 Vaquero. Bought it new in 2012. Still running great!
I'm curious, you still have it?
So.. do you still have it?
I bought one in December.. Love it, handles absolutely fantastic for a big cruiser..
Just sold my 2011 and I miss it already. I plan on getting the new Eluder though.

@Thomas B I agree, nothing special about about a bike everyone and their dead grandma has.

Where do i sign up? Except im on the west coast.
I live in the area and have never seen Sean test riding he must do it during the day when I’m working.
I have one bought used but its one of the best bikes i ever owned. I started on sports bike but with age i needed something sitting up, best bike for the money....
They look great and have this awesome green metal flake finish available. I've looked at them before. Pretty nice.
yeah it is like a road glide i like the green one. love bible verses don't hear them enough on UA-cam thanks
And when you figure in having to fix design flaws HD built in or throw out parts to get better parts for the premium priced HD, is why I'm looking at Kawasaki and Yamaha.
I got mine about a month ago and absolutely love it. I ride it more than my Harley although I still enjoy riding that too.
Love your channel. Greetings from Sweden. It's not what you are riding,it's where you are going.

Freedom Exhaust and cobra tuner make them very fast

Bro. I love this bike. Thanks for sharing
Kawasaki is giving these away right now. Thousands off new. I wonder if maybe they're going to come out with a redesign for next year?
I checked the prices pretty much straight away. In Australia, there's one going for $14,000AUD. I don't want a H2 anymore. I want this.
I hope so! I love my Vaquero but a bit long in the tooth at this point. It's been about 7 years..
Maybe to compete with the Star Eluder.

My new bike is running hot. I check the oil and it was low. Wasn't touching the dip stick at all. Changed oil and brought it up to level. Still running less hot. ? What else can I do
Once I gotcthe oil levels where they should be. My oil levels were solved
Sean, I love your videos I watch SRK Cycles all the time as well as Bikes and Beards. I found a 2009 vaquero. They still make them in 2023. Virtually unchanged bike
Now days find a nice one for 6grand or so
Where can I find a passenger backrest like that
My friend, can you tell what motorcycle is more comfortable and handle, between this Kawasaki here and Honda VTX 1800N. I just bought that Honda, but I’m so sad about how to feel. The suspension so hard, and the bike so heavy.
How is it for tall riders? 6’4 220lbs... my v-rod is great for tall but I want something for longer trips as well!!!!
Im sure it would be great if you add a set of hwy pegs..One of the most comfortable bikes I've owned..
I check these out at my local shop frequently. Brand new they average $9000 cheaper fully loaded than a basic Street Glide & the Road Glide runs a couple Grand more than the Street.
You should do a review on the Suzuki Intruder 1400 if you havent already. I'd like to learn more about that bike.
How are they for taller riders? I have been told they have a small cockpit.
I have a 2022. Very comfortable bike and heck with Harley prices…
80% of half the price?! Also known as 40% less. 😆
What a beautiful bike.
I really like the side view mirror
I had my ecu flashed by ivan...changed the performance night and day...
cahokia33 an absolute must!!! It eliminated all the popping, heat issues and jerky throttle control. I knew buying it that Ivans upgrades was absolutely needed. It's the best $350.00 you could spend on the Vaquero.
Eric sharrock totally agree
Same with mine. With the Ivan tune, roaring toys air intake and V&H pipes it felt like a totally different bike.
Where can I get that passenger seat that's thick like that.
How’s the friction zone on these?
Another awesome and informative video! Was curious if you and your crew will be at Thunder In The Valley this week?
Not to mention that it is the most top heavy bike out there.
I like the color of my 2015 Voyager. Black, dark gray with a green stripe. What's wrong with that? Most bike are just black so I'm styling LOL.
That's more gooder!!!
Shawn, I’m looking for one it can be
Voyager
Vaquero or
Nomad
But let me tell you not because I’m old (55) but because they are affordable and has the BIG 1700 engine! If you have one that’s 2013 to 2016 and under $11k and no more than 25k miles. Oh yes, could you stop comparing then to the HD
Good day!!

Really been considering trading my hd in for one.
Did you end up trading your Harley? I'm in the same boat wanting to trade in my Softail for a Vaquero but I just don't know if I can.
So, is this a current inventory video or a past inventory video? Because I’m not finding this bike on the website. Is it just me?
C. A. Pearson new inventory
C. A. Pearson they take a day or two to update the website. The blue super glide hasn’t been posted either.
Thanks!
I love my Vaquero by the way
Beautiful Bike
What size of the engine ?
1700cc V-twin. Very comparable in power output to a 103ci Harley.
Where is your bike? I will personally go and load up in my truck and deliver to you. Sounds like a buncH of sales BS to me.
They ride smooth
No 0-60???
Those are pretty cool.
Thanks for the great videos man! Where can I get the Bible post it notes? Or do you make them?
I need more words of wisdom
Ordered them on amazon
The Hardly Davidson Road Glide!
30Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men stumble and fall,
31but those who wait on יהוה renew their strength, they raise up the wing like eagles, they run and are not weary, they walk and do not faint.
I bought a vulcan classic 1700 and love it.
I love SRK videos but that inhale lip smack in every video drives me insane.
Xeth321 I'm not the only one that finds this annoying?!?
sniff *smack

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the dashboard of this bike, with its emphasized speakers looks like a goofy beach-boom-box from the late 80s. Sorry, but YIKES!
You're probably saying it because you can't afford one well you never rode one people that are jealous usually make fun of things
own a 2016 and it is amazing lean angle to straight line performance off the charts fun maint so low very dependable parts prices normal overall best cruiser bagger ever......BTW this guy cant ride just saying ...he rides like old people hump ...slow sloppy lol :P
How much?
"
80% off of half the price". I have no idea how to do that math!!
More of a street glide comparison as far as looks go. Doesn't have that hideous double reverse angle fairing like the road glide.
You crack me up...😂🤣😃😄😅😆😂🤣😃😄😅😆😎😎😎
3 years later, I want to trade my harley in......
Wait, you quote the Bible then disparage...'old man colours'. You're a real nice guy...🤨
Vaquero means: ( Cowboy ) in Spanish ..😎
4:35
Dude you say evey bike you ride handles great...why

Different Bikes R like diff.women,,they all good !♡.ITS NOT WHAT YOU RIDE ,IT WHERE YOU GOING !,,《,did eye say dat rite??¿¿》,lol..
if only it had more than 70hp
@Some Dude 30% from a flash and an air filter? I find that very hard to believe but anything is possibly I guess.Typically you see a 10-15hp jump from a stage 1 upgrade. If you want more you usually need a cam upgrade or bigger jugs.
Bible verses, Big Turn Off.
Sorry man. But i'd never buy a knockoff bike. Rather save some more and buy Harley.
Erick de viking Not everybody is worried about the brand, as much as just finding a good bike.
Lol Harley’s sucks ASS
Erick de viking that is the dumbest shit i ever heard. Like Harley invented motorcycles.
Great decision to save more money to keep the ancient technology alive !!
Please just go & ride the bike & then read a pre-prepared commentary as a voice over when you get back.
Have you watched this video ?
Have you heard how much rubbish you're talking?
C'mon man - up your game.
More pseudo religious bollocks 🙄🙄
Dude you’re embarrassing yourself on UA-cam representing a Kawasaki...
You’re sad....There’s at least fifty motorcyclists here at this event laughing at you, right now dude😂
Nasty forYou I’ve never seen one of these on the side of the road being worked on. Seen a ton of Harley’s pulled over trying to get fixed. Harley closed anymore plants yet?
Matthew Yearber
Exaggeration at best, you sound like a Democrat, 😂
Ton of Harley’s , that’s a lot little man..🤣
Again you’re embarrassing yourself on a public forum...
Matthew Yearber
Speaking of seeds, you’re smoking what the seeds are sprouting...
😂
You’re too easy, uniformed and still embarrassing yourself....fool
Nasty forYou Yeah that’s what I thought. What am I uninformed about? If you’d be so kind to point it out and give specifics I’d love to be educated. But you can’t. Unless you are going to go against a 6 year survey on 12,000 motorcycles.Old fool. You want to bring some facts or just keep trying to insult me because your argument has no sustenance?
