One of the most famous works that everyone thinks was written by Bach - but wasn't. Minuet in G. Actually written by Christian Petzold, it was compiled together with other works in the well known 'Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach' by Bach and his wife Anna Magdalena. In the book, no composer to the work was given so for hundreds of years the world thought this was a composition by Bach himself. In the 1970s however, it was discovered that this is not the case. Enjoy ♥
Everybody's talking about how they played this song at a recital when they were nine.... I'm 25 and learning this song now, so don't feel bad, those of you who started late
31 years old and just learnt the first phase of this. You're never too old to start learning piano. 😊 Just started playing 2 months ago because I really wanted to be able to play Moonlight Sonata first movement. I've learnt like the first 40 seconds but I am maybe a little bit out of my depth with that so trying to master some simpler pieces and improve technique before I carry on with that. I'll get there though. Been practising every day for at least an hour.
This was the very first piece that I learned. I learned playing by ear when I was like 10. We didn’t have money to pay for consistent proper piano lessons. Sometimes, I would attend free classes at church during summer. My mom saved up and bought a casio keyboards for my graduation. She knew I really loved playing. I would practice playing this every single day. Life went on and I got preoccupied with school, uni, then work. I still can’t play “properly” but I can still play the ones that I learned many years ago - this one, pathetique, canon, etc. I think that I was able to achieve my dreams and helped my family get out of poverty. Listening to this piece, I feel nostalgic as I remember our financial struggles and my parents trying their best to provide. It’s not a sad nostalgia but a delightful one, like the melody of this piece.
I love this song - it was one of the first piano songs I ever learned after not playing for years. It made me fall in love with the piano and i remember being so proud of myself after learning it and bothering everyone in the house 24/7 with the song. To beginners out there learning piano - its going to get hard at times but please don’t give up because music really is a gift. You’re doing amazing and keep at it, it’s going to be so worth it
For the ones who are desperate, for the ones who truly love... The existence of this piece could fill the love of the heart. I truly loved this piece when I was a child, and it was heartfelt, everlastingly forever, never left.
I play this every day for my best friend, Charlie (he's 1/2 Westie and 1/2 Jack Russell, and 100% terrier). We rescued each other when my fiance died suddenly in the middle of the night and 4 days later his man was taken terminally ill to a Vet's home terminally ill and the hotel Mgr just three Charlie out into the parking lot. I chased Charlie for 2 days until he stopped turned and jumped into my arms, quivering. It was the darkest time of our lives. We are now the centre of each other's lives. I have played this song for him, which I call "Hhe song that puts babies to sleep," everything day since we came together and he falls right to sleep in my lap every time. Thank you for this and all the music like this that you upload.
This piece contains so many memories, I remember practicing this with my dad after my piano lesson when I was 5. A few months later I played it at my first recital. I still remember, I was shaking I was so nervous. My mum had dressed me up in a suit and tie that barely fit me. Good times
In the beginning of the pandemic lockdown in 2020, I heard my son’s piano teacher playing this song to him through Zoom. It’s like I found a childhood friend. I started learning how to play this song. This is my first classic music. I was 47 and am still learning. I now can play 7 classic piano songs. It’s truly never too late to start this journey.😂
Day 3 of owning a keyboard, I embarked on this, with the lower mordents, got to the end of measure 8, been very difficult, will come back to this in 3 months after I get more familiar with the instrument

there was this song that popped up in my head and I played it in front of almost 10 people until I found someone who said it's a song in cantonese. I searched it up but it just doesn't hit the same, but I searched up what the guy based the song on. It came up with a movie theme that isn't it at all. So I gave up, until I found an outro of @Rousseau playing this piece, I used the power of Google Assistant and AI to search the song the closest resemble it. It took no joke 3 hours of clicking random piano tutorials until I found this result. With almost all hopes lost, I clicked on the video and BAM the piano piece I was looking for. Thank you Rousseau and thank you Bach and my childhood piano teacher as well as my memory
Is it just me, or everybody has made the purpose of their life to destroy each other's self esteem by saying how old they were when they first played this piece?

Thank you for posting this wonderful music. My name is Gavri'el and I think it's exciting that in our research we found that we may be a descendant of Christian Petzold as my family comes from Germany. My mom was a wonderful and talented organist in the Church here in the USA for many years. I was always amazed at how she would play the organ so well. And it's interesting that Christian was an organist too. According to history records it shows that Bach's eldest son replaced Christian as the organist at the Church in Germany when he passed on. Wish there was more music that could be found of Christian Petzold's work today. This generation would be blessed to discover the richness of these famous composers of the past. After the first part of Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata, it feels like the next milestone for me. Yeah, it’s slow going but getting a piece like this down primes me to continue learning. So all you late starters out there, there’s hope!

@@markE946 Minuet in g is truly one of the most fun pieces to ever play. There are tons of more interesting pieces that I like better but in my opinion, those pieces aren’t as enjoyable to play. There’s just something about playing this specific selection of notes which is incredibly enjoyable, that I keep returning to it when I’m bored (I do confess that I play it at an incredibly fast-paced tempo until all the musicality is ruined but butchering the music like that brings the most enjoyment when playing)

Hello! I'm currently learning how to play this song. I can now play it from beginning to end but in a very slow tempo. Though the version that I can play starts the piece with G, as in like this: G C D E F G C C for the right hand. So basically, I'm playing it in C. Am I playing it wrong? If so, then I'm afraid that I have to go all over again. I hope someone finds this comment for I'm learning by myself and have no music/piano teacher. Thank you in advance. God bless.

The companion to this piece (Minuet in g minor) also has many trills.
@@Anonymous-wj6bu I'm vaguely familiar with it, it's not something I would want to learn, it's too melancholic for me

Had this on a keyboard! It was supposed to be a play along but often times I would sit in my room as a 6th and 7th grader and listen to this song on the keyboard! It really eases the mind!
I learned this in 1 day, heres a tip: practice 40 hours a day.

Finally a violinist among the swarm of piano players

I was just about to comment this! This song makes me feel like a little kid on top of those musical 🍄 🥺
I remember hearing this from my childhood. I've been watching tons of
"Top 10 orchestra/piano pieces" type videos. After dozens of videos, I
finally found it
Still remember playing this at 6 years old. It was incredibly scary for me then.
Hey Rousseau, have you ever thought about playing all of Chopin’s Nocturnes?
I thought it’d be cool if you had a complete set of these works.
P.S. Love your videos 👍
Make him livestream playing all nocturnes for 5mil
One of my favorite piano recital pieces😊
Do you have the sheet music for this? Your playing is BEAUTIFUL. It’s rare that I am so deeply affected by dómines playing and you have done just that. Thank you.
Dude im having a bad day
This somehow made it not that bad
Thx ^^ alot
everybody is talking about how they played this at their first piano recital... my parents had the cd of this and played it to me as a baby to get me to fall asleep. It's burned into my mind... forever.
"Hey man, how old is your dog again?"
"Oh, he's petzold."

Although it could have been Little faster that's better.

One of the most beautiful pieces ever written😍❤❤

Hello! I'm currently learning how to play this song. I can now play it from beginning to end but in a very slow tempo. Though the version that I can play starts the piece with G, as in like this:
G C D E F G C C for the right hand.
So basically, I'm playing it in C. Am I playing it wrong? If so, then I'm afraid that I have to go all over again. I hope someone finds this comment for I'm learning by myself and have no music/piano teacher. Thank you in advance. God bless.
0:04 this is my little starting point because I cannot do this song and I need to learn it to be able to play it
Did you get it?
@@BenjiDarius I literally play recorder now, whoa this comment is SO old.
@@CrispySpyerAre you really good now?
Hey, Rousseau
I have a suggestion, can you play the minuet in G MINOR?
I would like that.
