Considering 90% of the mines here in North West Arizona were closed due to other things besides the lacking of good ore, I'd say there is still a lot more metals to be had than we've already seen.

I'm a rockhound moving in a few months into the Kingman/Mojave County area. How can I get files or printouts of the graphics shown in this presentation? (I'm not a college student, don't have access to college textbooks.) The areas I explored this weekend were very different from where I live now (northern Nevada) and I need to learn more about where I'll be poking around. Thanks!

Hello, A couple places for online resources: our home page has a mineral section - azgs.arizona.edu ; the AZGS document repository has more than 100 years of our publications - repository.azgs.az.gov/ ; the US Geological Survey's publication warehouse would be another good bet - pubs.er.usgs.gov/ . And welcome to Arizona.

Check out the canyons near/around Oatman. Also the hualapai Mountains and cerabats are great areas too.

I just moved to Golden Valley, that's 10 minutes away from Kingman. I rockhound in this area almost everyday. I have a college background in geology, and have been finding some pretty nice stuff in my area.

I'm sure you've found resources by now but the BLM office in Kingman has everything you need to know, ot they'll direct you on the right path. I'm just down the road in Chloride.

Thank you. Are these maps available to the public? Is there a book?

The book is called Mineralogy of Arizona, Fourth Edition. It is available at many local bookstores throughout Arizona, but also Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
