They could give these franchises remastered PC ports. It would cost a fraction of financing a new game and could also test the waters to see if bringing theses dormant series back is worth it. Games like Dragon's Dogma and Okami received PC ports long after the original console release and proved very successful. The PC would be a great home for these FPS franchises with a large player base hungry for older style shooters and as lower budget remasters they wouldn't have to fear being trampled by the COD behemoth.
Agreed. I´d like to play the killzone 2 multiplayer on pc at 60+ fps. I think it would do very well if the port is well done and if there is multiplayer available.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. I’d want them to improve the spinoffs, improve the controls/handling, and have other quality of life improvements while keeping the originals mostly intact.

It sucks that Sony won't bother revisiting both Killzone or Resistance in the future as both series were quite fun when I first played them during the PS3 days especially the Resistance trilogy I was reading a few weeks ago that Resistance 4 was pitched twice on the PS4/PS5. The first was a Resistance 4 from Insomniac Games as a PS4 Launch title but was scrapped due to being similar to The Last of Us while the second pitch was from Bend Studio who pitched an Open World Resistance 4 similar to Days Gone but this was scrapped as well due to Sony not being interested in reviving the Series (most likely due to the sales figures mentioned in the video) which really sucks as I (like most fans) would love this series to have a revival of sorts due to the series containing a lot of lore. The only way I could see Resistance (and Killzone) coming back is through an adaptation by PlayStation Productions. I've written a few ideas of what a Resistance series could be. 1) A prequel based on Jordan Shepard detailing his life i.e., his upbringing, his time at SRPA, etc. 2) An original story set during the Chimeran Invasion following original characters 3) A prequel set in Russia detailing the Tunguska Incident (The Origins of how the Chimera invaded Russia) perhaps featuring Dr Malikov as the Protagonist, Side Character or Cameo 4) Simply adapt the Games/Novels/Comics in a TV/Movie format Additionally I think Michael Bay would be good as the producer and/or a Director for a Resistance Adaptation due to being able to direct cinematic action sequences as well as having amazing CGI/Effects which could give a Resistance adaptation a true end of the world feel. Additionally, I believe his Production Company Platinum Dunes (known for 'A Quiet Place', 'Jack Ryan', 'The Purge' and Multiple Horror Movie Remakes) could be involved. If not Michael Bay I think Zack Snyder, Doug Limen (The Edge of Tomorrow) or, Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim) would be considered as good alternatives. While I have played Killzone 2-Shadow Fall I don't know too much about the lore to brainstorm any ideas 🤷♂ I also heard that the Twisted Metal Game was cancelled a day ago due to layoffs within Firesprite which is a shame cause the TV Show was successful and I thought that it would seal the deal for a new game :(
Sad but true. Even if they're gone, the intro from Killzone 1 to me is still one of the very best universe-establishing intros in gaming, particularly from the PS2 era. I love the song that plays during that cinematic.
That’s too bad the chances of us getting new Resistance and Killzone games are about as close to zero as you can get without it being zero. We know form the Insomniac leaks that nothing Resistance related is in the pipeline, Sunset Overdrive 2 was pitched and canned, there’s only one Ratchet and Clank game slated for the future, and now Insomniac is in the Marvel sweatshop like what Activision did by sending several of their studios to the CoD mines. In addition to the fact that Guerrilla Games are just occupied with Horizon there’s rumors about them remastering Zero Dawn (wouldn’t be shocked by this because Sony had Naughty Dog “remaster” Last of Us 2. A game that’s only 3-4 years old and still looks graphically impressive, gave it barely even noticeable graphical enhancements, the framerate it still capped at 30, and the new content is stuff other games include as free updates or fairly priced dlc). Such a shame. They could at least have their other studios make enhanced ports/remastered collections of those games to see how well they sale and if there’s ANY interest in a sequel to either (thankfully, with the EXPLOSIVE success of HellDivers 2 on PS5 and Steam it’s safe to say if any hopefhetical Resistance/Killzone ports/remasters were to be released they be included day one on pc).
What a shame. My guess is that moat people like colorful and vivid ganes and i personally love thos franchises bc theyre gritty and grimm and its vibe. Which is why shadow fall i liked and played a lot but i never liked the colorful white esthetics of everything. So i guess im part of the odd minority. Sadly i was a teen and child so i never got to truly wnjoy these games but i played them to some extent. Sadly the MP servers are all taken down or id be playing the right now all day. Same with BF Bad company... so all i gor left are the old COD games which i am playing recently, WAW, BO1, MW2, etc. Despite having a PS5. Well, RIP PS: You did say it makes no sense to put so much budget into these old frnachises but then also sony puts in that money into Concord which is the lamest and most bland hero shooter ever. With killzone 2 i felt sony had something there and didnt capitalize. they ruined it after that, socom is another great franchise that sony ruined. even though its sad we wont see these games back, if they do bring it back there is a high chance it wont be done right so it might be better off not coming back. I do think indie devs make games that are similar to some games we loved before so we have that at least since indie devs tend to have more passion.

That being said I think your dead wrong about the game. better story and introduction, greatest intro to a video game, alt fire that you wont see in any other KZ game, way more weighty oompf gun sounds and feels, and loads more. I'm sad you didn't enjoy it and it reminds me of when I got my hands on Killzone 2 I thought they butchered Rico's character and we didnt get to see half the other characters ever again

It's great to see at least someone still cares about these games
the plot ended completely. Especially in the case of Killzone. The main appeal and conceit of the game is gone.
bro they ended killzone on a cliffhanger. without going into spoilers the last part of the campaign would definitely spark another war.
resistance 2 had the best co op mode ever. i played that until the servers went down. wish they at least ported it with functioning multiplayer.

You should try Helldivers 2 and lethal company.
