Good idea and I found your video by search. I am thinking of some way to do the same. I have material bags that are coming apart and not too long will have to be replaced.
It's a Givi E45, really useful size without being too big on the bike and can be used as panniers too. I bought it second hand on ebay, I think they have been discontinued now unfortunately.
Nice work! Looks like a form of GatorFoam or FomeX. I was thinking why not spray it with a bit of Acrylic Clear Coat to give it a bit more rain resistance?
I used an adhesive that's intended for bonding car windscreens in. It's similar to silicon but requires a special primer to adhere properly. Incredibly strong stuff. There's more details about the build and materials in the video description 👍
I used pvc because I got it for free (bonus!), it's waterproof, lightweight and easy to work with. You would be surprised how robust it is! The pvc board is 3mm thick it's actually incredibly strong and the reinforced box structure makes it very sturdy. Think how flimsy cardboard is before folded into a box 😉
mEtzG3r DaPro If you read the description you would see I built it to carry my waterproofs (hardly a bowling ball), pretty useful when riding all year round in England and needing to carry other things in the topbox. Two years on and the box is still in use and still going strong with no issues at all. Cheers then.
Good idea for that space under the rack and it is well made too. Thanks for taking the time and posting it.
Thats awseome! Looks great on the bike.
Great brain work
WOW that's soooooo aesthetically pleasing to look at. It REALLY complements the bikes curves with those sharp edges
Well done!
Thanks Chunkee!
Can I buy one..

where'd you get that top box? I think it's the one I've been eyeing on amazon - thanks!

YTMND. Good work. Do I have to wear flip flops too or can I do it in my ordinary work boots?

What kind of glue are you using please.? I really like this box. Thanks for the video

What are the materials that you used
Nice work pal ,what material is it made from
Thanks Gaz! It's made from high density PVC foam board (Foamex) I rescued from old shop signage. It's great stuff! Really strong and easy to work with
What's the thing in the vice at 9m55s?
That's the lock body, just using it as a guide for how much I needed to grind off the bolts and T-nuts. Thanks for watching :)
Mainly UPVC
Why used PVC , a weak material?

And what can you carry in it, with those two screws? Some paper towels or butterflies? Lame.
