Okay, so a few answers: 1) Black dress, glittery outfits, red stashes in hands and the dance moves were all pushto traditional things. They tried to show the tradition of that region of Pakistan & Pushtoons in general. 2) names Laila (and Majnoo) are two characters from the folklores of India, Pakistan & Arabs (Laila/majnoo is actually an Arab folklore) .. like Romeo & Juliet.. so Laila became a symbol of love. Hope this clarified a few things.
Peshawar is known as the city of flowers and The dresses were traditional Peshawar dresses.... Laila is actually a character from a famous folklore ....

Hello Nick and Jodi. I started following your channel almost a month ago when I was listening to some of my favourite coke studio songs and I found out you guys have made reaction videos. I literally watched all of them. I am a Puktoon and I am from KPK. To help answer some of your questions I have to give you a little background. (I hope I am not late it seems like this video was posted a few days ago) This song, Larsha Pekhawar Ta is a Tappa. It's a old traditional song usually sung at weddings or fun gatherings. I listened to it for the first when 6 to 7. It's like very old. There was no Ali Zafar or Gul Panra or Fortitude. Laila: Laila can refer to two things here. The Laila from Laila Mujno (which is Romeo and Juliet). They had a tragic end. However in Pashto it refers to a beloved or beautiful lady. I maybe wrong and people who know more than will be better able to answer but in Pashto Laila as a beloved or as lover is more common. The Red: Red is beautiful warm colour and the guy is telling his girl that not to wear that colour other wise people who are jealous would wish bad things on her. 'Azar' literally translated means wish bad things on others. Black clothes: In the original song, the girl asks her lover to buy her a black dress from Peshawar (In the times when this song actually was written, Peshawar used to be the only city/ Khar of KPK and it was near the border so the merchants would have quite a variety - this is at least 40 - 50 years old song originally.) and she asks some flowers.

Nick seems pretty smart but Afghanistan barely survived the 40+ something years of war and bloodshed from Failed Foreign Occupancy and Lies. One would think and say 40 years is a long time and what for? was it jealousy? doesnt seem fair at all. again politics cant wait for kobra kai new season.
Some ones ill eye will harm you maybe an indication towards old belives that if you wear blak someone black eye will not harm you, indicating you are so beautiful so someones evil eye can harm you. Laila Majnoo v old folklore love tail of the region so Laila is often refered to female lover and Majnoo for Male Lover. Peshawar located in North west and about 1 hour from Capital of Pakistan is teh capital of KPK and it has centuries old history when in old ages it was the gateway to Indian subcontinent for people coming from west so many old markets adn history and stories about it, it borders Afghanistan so has been affected due to terrorism as well but has now recovered and its ppl have suffered alot but still strong. It is also famous for its meat based dishes and old markets.
