    I still can’t get over how beautiful this ending was. It’s been like 17 hours and I still have the ending score that was playing behind Jack in Rebecca‘s bedroom scene in my head. And the laughter and happiness between young Jack and Rebecca and the kids. Such a beautiful depiction of the little moments that matter within a family. Such a beautiful depiction of a family. This is one of the best finales I’ve ever seen, and I don’t care who disagrees.

      This last episode's flashback scenes showed us the foundation Jack and Rebecca laid to build this close family....always PRESENT - giving each child what they needed.
      Randall (an old-soul in a child's body) watching Jack how to be a good father....trying to take care of everyone after his death....and holding Rebecca's hand in her last moment. He was the thoughtful sensitive one... while Kevin worked through all of his issues and Kate learned to love herself.
      Beautiful way to end the series.

    It's like these characters were real and you just want to see how there life continues. Randall becoming a grandfather to a grandson and becoming a senator, Kevin working along with the vets and growing the Big Three Homes company, Kate taking her work throughout the world. I know it has to come to an end and it was beautiful I just miss it and miss them so much 😭😭😭.

    Them ending the show with both the adult and the kid Randall speaks volumes about the kind of message they wanted to send about the beauty and the inclusivity of the family. The little moments they wanted to highlight included him and it never felt like they were just doing it to include a black person, Randall really was one of them. There were many times I was watching the show through his eyes , And I’m glad that he got this moment. He was my favorite character.

      The show was about the big three from day one. Why single out Randall at the end. I love Randall and he was a good character but it speaks to a parent saying I like one child over the other. Maybe that was the point. Parents have favorites and screw the other kids. They shafted Kevin and Kate at the end and throughout the last episode.

    • @CJ-ku4ej
      @CJ-ku4ej 2 роки тому +5

      @@cheri7054 This was done intentionally..Think about it.. It all started with Jack and Randal from the very first day. Randal was always the most caring and responsible. Somehow there was a quiet understanding that Randall would hold Rebecca and the family together in Jack's permanent absence down the road. Remember, Randal chose a different path and decided that not attending a specialized school and staying home to look after Rebecca before Miguel came into the picture much later, was the best a good son can do for his Widowed Mom and his siblings. The specific moment between Jack and Randal was a subliminal moment. That's what makes "This is Us" so incredibly special. The viewer needs to read between the lines. Following every episode and paying attention to all the simple details with the passage of time. This final moment brings the entire story together. Pure Excellence in every way..

    • @cheri7054
      @cheri7054 2 роки тому +2

      @@CJ-ku4ej Randall wasn't always the most caring. He got into fights with Kevin just as much as Kevin did. Randall was guilt tripping his Mom into doing the trial study when in fact those weren't her wishes. hen he got into a mean heated fight with Kevin. Later they both apologized. Randall took care of Rebecca out of obligation. He wanted to go to that all black school but he felt too guilty. Yes, Randall is caring but Randall did get most of the attention in the family. Even the last episodes is more about him then about the other kids. To say Jack saw Randall ffirst before the other kids is crazy. Jack impregnated Rebecca long before Randall came around

    Best show ever! Leagues ahead of anything else.
    The ending was perfect. The train episode already had the "wow!" factor. This last episode was more mellow, reflective, low key. Focused on the little things. Didn't try to introduce any kind of spectacular twist or turn. Just quietly brought everything to a gentle completion.
    Very satisfying.

    Its somewhat strange i dont know how you managed that but you made them real people. Yes they where character, but the flaws and little quirks and ups and downs, growing and learning about life and themselves made them really alive. Im happy so to say that the show didn't drag on for another 5,6 seasons. This was a perfect story about a family and what it means to go through all the sour lemons life can throw at you and at the end making something that resembles a lemonade. ❤️

But I have to say the scene with Kevin & Sophie after the wedding season 6 is a favorite for me!! They always belonged together!! & even tho I was rooting for Kate & Toby I love that they stayed friends! I love that Randall & Rebecca always worked out their differences. When you really sit back and think about the fact that the creator knew exactly what this show was going to be from the beginning, knew to cast certain actors and actresses from the beginning even though we don’t actually learn of their characters until season 3 and knew to record some scenes years before they would ever be recorded, when they might not make any sense at that time, it truly is a ground breaking series!! I don’t know of any show that has had such an emotional impact on me week after week and yet none of it felt contrived or forced but just a true evolution of life. There is going to be a huge gap on tv now and I think it will be a long time, if ever, before another show comes along that is of the same calibre and has equally good acting.

      Well that’s why in Mandy’s words/opinions, the final final episode was an epilogue. We got to see what happened after the funeral and the conversation that Jack and Rebecca had from when they last knew each other (when jack died at the hospital).
      The writers were probably (idk what their intentions were) trying to write what was going through death for Rebecca’s character. Because everyone’s death is different, we don’t know what we see or think when someone else is dying but for Rebecca’s death, we got to see her ride on her train of life, and be reunited with her true love Jack.
      And for the present day Pearsons, we got to hear what they were going to do with their lives now that their mom is gone. And “to live fearlessly” (as Rebecca stated earlier this season) and now they’re going to do that. With fast forwards to their futures, we see that (typically with Kates son who became a famous singer).
      And the scene when they were in the past as young kids was a way to tie the whole story together. We met them as children. But the scenes of them as children was important and told us about why pin the tail on the donkey, and brining chalk was important, because it was important to mom on those special Saturdays.
      I think overall, for every character, we were watching them all come to peace with death, and slowly down and enjoying the smaller warmer moments.

    I didn't think Randall should have the last say. It was about the Pearson's and the big 3. Randall showed he'll be a Grandfather to a boy. Named after bio father. Kevin and Kate got verty little at the end. Kevin said I guess I'll continue building homes. Kevin didn't seem excited about it and that was all we learned about him. and Kate building schools. I wasn't totally satisfied with the end. I loved the idea of the show and the main theme. I loved Jack and Rebecca talking at the end.

I don't remember seeing Kate's second husband either? Also I think in their eulogy for their mother, it would have been nice to hear like 30 seconds of each of them speaking about her. Loved the show but thought the finale was a bit lacking. I agree with Mandy. The train episode felt more like a finale and the last episode felt like a nice epilogue. I'm glad they put it in though because it gave the audience more closure.

      @GraemeONeil  2 роки тому +7

      Someone brought that up in the comments of “The Train” segment and that would have been interesting to do, but i think that would have been a hard narrative tone to pull off cause many would see that reunion as delegitimizing Randall as a Pearson.

    • @KaylaDame
      @KaylaDame 2 роки тому

      I also feel it wouldn’t make sense too because they hardly talk about Kyle as well. And like the comment above, it would disregard Randall a little bit.
      It would also create another storyline/plot points

      Because we never got to see Jack in the after life (only in these last 2 episodes) and the only thing we know was that he was always with Kevin Kate Randall and Rebecca, never once mentioning Kyle.

    Sadly, I have disappointments with the last episode. I WISH IT WAS A 2 HR FINALE!!!!!!
    What I felt was missing, was I would've loved to have seen more of Kevan's and relationship back flashes of them finally getting married?!?! And did they ever have a child of their own. I wish there would have been flash forwards of Malik and Deja getting married. AND Deja given birth to their his first grand child, which we knew was a boy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it and will watch it again. AND my thoughts may have changed. Definitely there was beautiful parts. BUT...it was a bittersweet end for me.

    I kind of agree with Mandy, that the train episode was the most powerful and I kind of wish that was the ending. I had my box of tissues ready on Tuesday night for the finale and I only felt a little touched when she squeezed Jack’s hand. Otherwise I was a little disappointed.

    • @CJ-ku4ej
      @CJ-ku4ej 2 роки тому

      The entire story came full circle for each character. Nothing was left out at the end. The Train episode with Rebecca's ending was so powerful, beautiful and complete with Jack greeting Rebecca in the last train car. We all felt it had to be Jack at the end..it was breathtaking..

    • @KaylaDame
      @KaylaDame 2 роки тому +1

      @@KaylaDame Agree 100%. The train episode was stunning but I was really glad they had an epilogue to calm everything down (for us the audience). The acting writing and production was soooooo exceptional that I had to keep telling myself it wasn’t all real. That hand squeeze with Rebecca and Jack. At the very end. 🥹 Wow.

    I thought it was perfect and very much in line with what the show is about. It’s about life, and I don’t think seeing more of the ‘future’ was necessary because just like the characters after their mothers death we don’t know what the future holds and we shouldn’t know.

    • @estherthuita453
      @estherthuita453 2 роки тому +2

      I think they wanted to leave the show with a message. That life is about small moments like lazy Saturday. Also, how people who die are so present in the small moments like family traditions and how people treat each other as we are raised by the people who die, and their moral code and their energy is ingrained in us. Like Daja said She feels she knows William because she knows Randall. I think they wanted to leave people with hope about life in general and to stop worrying about our fears so much.
      For me a perfect ending! This is life. It is continuous! When someone passes we still wake up the next day, brush our teeth and get hungry, and have random! “ we never know at the moment what we will end up remembering forever! “ There are things that we know and those that are just not knowable!
      This is us” ended exactly as real life is! Things not yet known!
      And the things we will always know! Life!
