Wrong. Ghana's nuclear power ambition has been in the local news for almost twelve years. Ghana became nuclear ready six years ago. Ghana's first nuclear reactor was built by the Russians in 1964. This lead to the establishment of the Atomic Energy Commission. Apart from South Africa and Egypt, Ghana is the front runner on the African continent in terms of technological know-how and institutional readiness. Ghana has build nuclear knowledge and soft infrastructure over 50/60 years. In simple terms, a nuclear power station installed today in Ghana can be run TOTALLY by Ghanaians. Other African countries, e.g. Mali, Burkina Faso etc will need to rely on external/foreign operators. What Ghana does not have is MONEY.
