I have a question about bass modifications. I play a 5 string Warwick thumb, which is an excellent bass, but I want to slap on a 6th c string. And I don’t like the wide necks of most 6 strings, so I would want it like claypools fretted 6. Who would I contact to do a mod like that? Thanks!
you can ask a repair shop to do it, but maybe its better to buy a 6 string with a thin neck and a narrow stringspacing, like this ibanez bass I'm playing at this video. it was about 1000,- euro. for the modificaton from a 5 to a 6 string you'll need a new bridge, saddle, which is no problem, but you'll also need a new hole in the headstock for the extra tuning machine. the thumb is a very headheavy bass, with the extra tuning machine it could become more worse. I would not do it...
Four things: 1) You know "Fisticuffs" can be played on a 4-string right? 2) Where's "El Sobrante Fortnight?" 3) If you've been reading these comments, sorry if I sound like a douche. 4) What bass are you using?
Ryan Barba, Why is fisticuffs not played on a four string? And do you know where to find that kind of Ibanez bass? I have an Ibanez myself, but it's 4-string.
Electric Uncle Sam it was recorded on his 6 string fretted, but he plays it on his 4 string now and it's a little different. Try looking online! I think they go for a little over 1,000 if my memory serves me correctly
