Hello world. I heard this song for the first time in my life in the year 1980 when i was a sea engineer. We came to the dock that afternoon in Manila. When all works ware finished, we have decide to go out have some fun with the colleagues. That mesmerizing night, when i heard this song coming from a night club, was playing from a live band, was and still after about 45 years is, like an arrow in my heart. Although i didn't understand a single word of the song, tears came from my eyes. The singer saw me crying, and looking in my eyes he starts crying too. As im typing these words cant still stop crying. We became friends with the band, and during our stay in Manila for 10 days, went every day to that club. As i can play also a little of guitar we had so much fun with those boys playing together. I learned also some words of the song ANAK, and they told me about Freddy Aguilar. After some years i heard the lyrics also in English, and then was a real bomb in my heart. I listen always to this lovely master piece. FREDDY I LOVE YOUR SONG. (MAHAL KITA) This is my favorite for life. Thank you with all my heart.
Freddy had or rented a bar in Ermita near Supermarket that were I had my first date with my Fillipina wife for almost 11 years now.❤ The song Anak was a hit in the Netherlands and more countries in Europe nobody knew the words or meaning of the song. But the song touched the people somehow ...I still love to hear the song now and then. And remember Freddies Bar in Ermita were he played with his band his son on electric gitar Freddy on acoustic gitar. Had a chat and drunk a besr with him. His Bar in Ermita is no more. Cheers🍻
I am from South Korea. When I was young I often listened to this song even though I didn't understand the meaning. However, I loved this song very much. I could feel something warm inside my heart.
Vietnamese has cover this song in our language, named it “Con yêu”, meant “beloved child”. No matter what language you cover, the song’s spirit would make you shed tears. The older you are, the stronger feeling coming back. All your memories about your parents, your once family.... Like somebody said, a gift from Filippino to the world. Respect.
Vietnamese version of this song is terrible. I feel sorry for whoever tried to convert this famous song into something I definitely do not feel the immense of emotion that the song delivers.
I heard this song the first time in Hanoi/VN in the 1990's - by that time I had no idea what language it is. Just in 2012, I was able to see Freddie Aguilar live in San Fernando/ La Union and what a heartwarming atmosphere I received was unbelievable. One of the best live concerts I could attend ever! Super cool. Thanks Ka Freddie too!

I grew up in Vietnam during the war, and I have lost lots of friends and family to human hatred and killings. I hope and pray for both Russians and the Ukrainian people to make peace. I feel the pain of all people especially all the soldiers who died from both sides. My heart hurts when I think about the thousands of innocent lives who do not have a chance to enjoy a little bit of life and grow old together. I hope people will see the bright side of life and learn to live in peace with each other.
When i was in high school during 70's were freddie aguilar composed this song ANAK in 1978 and sang/performed himself and he was become popular over the world and up to now. Translated, interpreted in many languages. I've loved so much this song the lyrics is very meaningful and trully touched our hearts for being a parents and child. God bless Freddie!
I am now 84 years old and this song is the song of my life. My biggest wish is and always been is to meet Mister Aquilar in person one day before I leave this world. I am a Belgian and married with a nice Philippine Lady and supported her 6 children in the Philippines.
To all the non-Filipino listeners of this song, the song is basically telling a story of a certain child (well it's our story, as we are at one point in our lives are/were children to our parents) as he/she discovers his/her own direction in life growing up. It tells of the sacrifices parents took and went through to raise the child, the hopes of our parents that we take the right path in our lives and make the right decisions. As the child grow up, he/she is set to inevitably make mistakes and wrong decisions that hurt the parents, learning very hard lessons in life and ultimately realizing and finally making amends to the disregarded parents albeit a little too late. This song talks about the everyday sweet and bitter realities of parent-child relations. It talks about LIFE.
This is indeed the signature song of Freddie Aguilar. He wrote this song as a remorseful and regretful apology to his parents about what he had done bad after being involved in bad vices, dropping out of post-secondary, and running away from home with just his acoustic guitar. When his parents heard the song he wrote, his parents reconciled.

Wonderful song. So moving. I first heard this song in 1987 in Mumbai, India as a young bachelor - listing to a song which was so soulful and moving - but without understanding even a word of it or knowing which language it was sung in. Over the years, the song was heard by my family and I came to know as to what a big hit song this one is. Still love it - after 36 years. Love from India.

I miss my mom and dad, my brothers and my sisters, my lolo and lola. we were once a happy family. But as the time passes by, everything around me crumbled. My dad left us with another family. in a months later my mom passes away by my side. i a few years also, learned that my father died. Sadly, my younger brother Chito died in an accident. I was only 15 when my 3- sisters went abroad and i haven't seen them since they left 18 years ago. And now that i am getting older, there moment that i miss those happy days with them. And if i only have the chance of going back in time. I prefer to have that moment , being with them, and i will look at their faces and hug them to tell them i miss you all so much. How I wished that we're never born this way. To be happy just to feel the pain of missing your love ones and myself one day.

And we visited his cafe at the opening night Ka Freddie. Decades later..Anak is still the song i sing.. but now in videoke in the streets in Visayas. With love to Philippines and the people living there. Selamat tayo

I’ve heard this song for about 10yrs ago and instantly fell in love with music even though I didn’t understand any of the lyrics. TBH, fan from Myanmar 🇲🇲
This song takes me back some 30 years, remebering the fast food bar me and my friend visited during our vacation in downtown manila. Friendly ladys serving ice cold beer and delicious snacks. And if you want to give a favour to those service girls and make them happy you put some coins into their jukebox and play this song for them. Times where so much easiery and far less complicated than nowadays. I wish you joy while listening to this masterpiece, greetings from Switzerland
Sometime around 198X I had a dinner at Seven Dwarf Restaurant in Mabini, Manila. Freddie Aguilar was there live. Since that, Anak has been my favorite song. Still, after so many years, I play it weekly.
This song I listing after listened "Chole gecho ta te ki" from 🇧🇩 2010.. Though "chole gecho ta te ki" was a remake song based on this one... After 11years I find out the original song, the tone... 😊 It's feels great.. Love from Bangladesh.. 🇧🇩🇧🇩
There is something hauntingly beautiful about this song. His voice combined with the dark background music ultimately creates a dark and gloomy atmosphere. Music like this can be considered beautiful and sombre at the same time. A mixture rarely achieved. Anak throughout the years proved to be a classic like no other, especially when performed with the great voice of Freddie. Otherworldly and sublime
This song is just timeless.. Regardless of what generation you belong this song will always be impacting and relevant. Truly a master piece, hats off to the composer and the whole crew behind this song. Truly a gift to the whole world.
I miss the days that my mom and dad were still together and I’d hear this and so many other Filipino songs. My mom (Filipino) would sing so many songs on her days off of work. My dad (American) would always try to learn Tagalog so he could teach me since mom was at work a lot. God I miss them days when I was happy and the 5 of us (Mom, Dad, Ate, Kuya) were all together
Finally I found this song After 10 years..it’s really legendary creations of music. At first I heard this song at Bangla version (Chole Gecho Tate ki) in 2010 .. I was really surprised when I known that song are cover on 32 countries language.. I’m fan of this song tune n melody
Yeah, brother in the year 1990 this song was covered by a Bangladeshi band called "Ramblers". And then another Bangladeshi band called "Desert" covered this masterpiece. You can get them on UA-cam. Love from India 🇮🇳. Love 🇧🇩.

I feel u bro. I pray to Allah that ur wishes may come true. With much love from Bangladesh! :-)

And we visited his cafe at the opening night Ka Freddie. Decades later..Anak is still the song i sing.. but now in videoke in the streets in Visayas. With love to Philippines and the people living there. Selamat tayo

I'm from Taiwan and this is my favorite Filipino song. No matter how old your child is, you will always be their child in the eyes of your parents.❤

I’ve heard this song for about 10yrs ago and instantly fell in love with music even though I didn’t understand any of the lyrics.

Exactly same feelings with me. Also 30 years ago.....so good memories to the internet-free, uncomplicated world. Best greetings from Ireland
Yes, a masterpiece, indeed!!! Saw him 2 times in concert!!!!
It's feels great.. Love from Bangladesh.. 🇧🇩🇧🇩
this was my late father's favourite song. i hope anyone who sees this comment can pray for him. we miss you ayah 💕

Just finished Gangnam Blues/1970. Totally took me by surprise when Anak played suddenly and it is its OST!!! Ang iconic ng kanta talaga na to! ❤
I am and Indian. This song strikes a chord in me though I fo not know tagalog. One of the best originals.
Try to visit the Philippines and get a family bonding. You’ll feel consoled.
Love 🇧🇩.

@@roeltv2286 Philippine name has been given as a tribute to the king of the nation who had occupied their land and brutally forced their peoples to change their faith, and also at the same times. They slowly wiped their roots and totally turned them into westerner lifestyle as what we can see on nowadays, and his name was Philip the king of Spain on that time periods.
It was so tragically thought.
So ironies isn't it…??

Excellent music is understood anywhere. The voice, the guitar and d melody- even if one can not understand d words, conveys great emotion. Even d subject of the song is universal- we at one time, were all children, no matter what part of d world u came from. Thats what makes this song wonderful, even at this time
