Not sure you can compare with The Beatles. Apples to oranges. I mean, they were incredibly innovative in rock and pop rock in the 60s, while this is a ballad of operatic pop and R&B, genres that didn't even exist until decades later - so yeah, in way you're right they couldn't have created it, but it's a direction they probably weren't interested in.
