True that. It can certainly be flat, but still swift. I'd consider myself an intermediate paddler. I think it's going to come down to getting each on the water and feeling it out. Thanks for your response!
as a first time kayak buyer i honestly believe that this is the one fore me :) i have been researching kayaks for a bout 3 monthes now and well this seems to have it all! i can't afford a big bass boat and really i don't wanna pay for gas :p i'm not a big buy and i was intrested in the cuda 14 but me comming in at 5'6" and around 135 pounds im not a big guy by any means and well the cuda 12 seems like it would be a great fishing kayak! i'm sold on this kayak for sure!
I'm liking the new features on Cuda 12 and all good ole familiar features that are common to both boats but I actually have a couple questions about the new Cruise prototype. The Cruise looks like a simplified version of the Cuda, does it have a similar hull style and also will it come with a rudder option. As much as I love my Cuda there are times in the marsh that I really would rather not have the center hatch taking up all the deck space.
Oh well, I'm sure it can be rigged up to fit a rudder. I like the idea of the center hatch on the Cuda but I rarely ever use it and find that the open deck space would actually be more beneficial to my particular fishing in the marsh. Big redfish need lots of room to flop around or they tend to flop themselves out of the boat.
Hey Drew, I keep seeing that the Coosa is the choice for rivers and streams. The river that I fish has a lot of slow moving stretches, a fair amount of shoals, but very few rapids. I am torn between the Cuda 12 and the Coosa. My original choice was the Coosa, but the faster and better tracking Cuda 12 may be better. What are your thoughts?
Drew, can the 14' still perform in rivers? Even though I love 12' yaks, I'm beginning to think they're a little gimmicky only because they're sort of a jack of all trades, master at none. I mainly fish tributaries, reservoirs and lakes with the occasional river and inshore trips. Would you recommend the 14 due to the flat water I mainly fish and then just suck it up when I hit a river? I currently own a stealth 12 and fish the potomac river region and beginning to think I need more speed.
I've seen a couple different people fishing from these and both said although they can stand it is a little to tippy for them to feel comfortable standing to fish from it. what say you?
Would love to buy one but I can't get a dealer near me to return an email or phone call to tell me if they have one in stock. Guess that means they don't.
after a long wait i finally got my cuda. then apon inspection i realized that the rudder mount had indented the hull and was defective and completely askew. Now it seems like im royaly fucked especially considering that i live in california, and i ordered it all the way from indiana. fml
I have had this kayak over a month now and it's excellent! This is a great all around kayak!
ok the nubs for the hardware is a great idea, you guys never stop improving I love that
The built in attachments are a great idea! Can't wait to test them out for myself!

Ah yes thanks! I was looking in the Kayak Fishing & Hunting -> Cuda menu rather than in the New for 2013 menu. Totally missed it! Thanks!
Great review Drew. Can't wait to get my hands on one of those.

When should the Jackson Kayak site have full specs for this version of the Cuda? Looks frickin' awesome!

Hey Drew, when it says "Mild offshore" would that fit in the 3 mile BTB range?
só pesco em represas , raramente em lagos,
qual melhor opção, coosa ou cuda 12
obrigado...
Just curious, what would you estimate your fast, flatwater "cruising" speed to be in one of these boats and also in the 14' for comparison.
