PARIS, FRANCE, Around Île Saint-Louis - Walking tour 2021

At 00mn 55s, the statue on the right, at the beginning of the bridge Pont de la Tournelle, represents Saint(e) Geneviève. It is by the French sculptor Paul Landowski, who is the author of the worldwide - known statue of Christ in Rio-de-Janeiro. The artist was very sad, because he would have wanted that his statue were turned the other way around, toward Notre-Dame cathedral. But he failed convincing the authorities who stuck adamantly to the official command. So cross was M. Landowski that he didn't assist the inauguration, in 1928, of the bridge - which enclosed the inauguration of his work proper.
