  • An exploration on the inter-related and mutually reinforcing nature of Human Rights and Development, specifically in the context of the SDGs and Post-2015 Development Agenda discussions. Issues to be discussed include how a HR framework could concretely apply in terms of measurement, evaluation, reporting, accountability, etc. Time permitting, we will also consider possible collaborations among NGOs for coordinated messaging and advocacy efforts.

very interesting.Parlaying the goods done well and those not done well inTunisia is in reality a learning lesson in where we must invest most to bring about changes that are practical to the worlds people. As it is the present scenarios show us explicitly that Development so far no matter what strides along MDG mean not were right based. if not then to whom were these goals really meant? Clearly they must be winners where they are loosers. How come with massive monitoring and evaluation by UN still after a country attaining the MDGs buckled and only on focusing SDgs we see that something went a miss. is this not due to disparities in reporting for solely getting academic results on table rather than using intelligentsia at giving us the signals to which smoke would have alerted fire in action. lastly it is imperative that environmental triggers ought be taken into account so as development parse is integral to the peoples human rights. Priorities ought be a symphony in totality not by solely political acumen to please political forces but aim at satisfying civil society who must be empowered at having their governments accountable to their own development(after all the people are the taxpayers. if MDGs did not answer pertinent solutions how are we to be assured that the SDGs wont build walls that people won't be satisfied with in the long run. Present indicators at human rights measurability ain't adequate. as speakers agreed system changes are required but then who fashions or designs the same. Then an instrument combatable to engaging human rights must be lodged and deployed not simply for the authorities but must satisfy the people on the ground. Right based sing songs have been much lamented without the concrete stuff that develops comprehensive overviews. lets be truthful with ourselves we have to pressure people, leadership accountability framework ought be re-invested with new focus to what stacks must be laid down and pegged for sustainable development. Lets not forget in most the rain areas the private sector are the instigators of cloudy situations and though it may be a remedy but actually malaise at provoking deterrent ditections as stacked by UN because the private sector gives pushes to government and leaders sway with their economic downturns and upturns far remote from any UN directive elementally as the case in Tunisia shows.
