A Skimboarders Dream Wedge Wave

- For fleeting moment in time there was a reverse and miniature version of The Wedge in Newport. While the sand only lasted for one swell there were a select few skimboarders who scored the best right wedge they had skimmed in California. After the XL Swell that hit California to close out 2023, there was no hope of this wave returning to its skimmable state. It was sure a lot of fun the two days it lasted.

I’m so sick of Nazare. I don’t find that wave exciting or gnarly at all. It’s a giant white cap. You can tell the non-surfers because they think it’s amazing. Big wave spots like Mavericks are far more gnarly, or that spot in Ireland Mullaghmore. Places that are square.

wow! boy does this bring back some memories.... i used to run up and down this beach skimming across the low tide sand on nothing but a piece of plywood, we would sneak into construction sites and look for scraps that we could sand down to be ridden! what are the boards you are using constructed of? your filmer sure has a nice tan, i bet he looks great during summer.

"Late to a good session..." lmao. When I was 15, I had this alarm clock that sometimes just didn't ring. I woke up late and missed 14th ave. I took a baseball bat and parked the alarm clock right through my bedroom window! I had to pay for the window. Still laugh about that. Most kids are better adjusted than I was. Still are. lol.

really wondering what I am doing wrong and maybe some of you have a tip or two: I cant get far enough on my board to catch good waves. i can only skim the ones that are really close to the beach and tiny. was really wondering, if i am too heavy and/or my board is too small. height 183cm, weight ~90kg, board is 140cm long and a hybrid shape.
i´ve really been working on my drop and have been skimboarding for almost a year now (not living near the beach, so dont have too many opportunities to practice), but i am not really making any progress. have been skateboarding for more than a decade, so had a relatively easy time getting on the board (even though a backfoot-first drop feels odd, when you´ve been a skater before :D ).
has anyone struggled with the same and got some advice? i have been watching countless videos, but really reached a point where that´s not helping anymore.
