11:40 Subtle Things: Logan swore on Stephen Hawking's The Grand Design, Patton swore on a Catholic Youth Bible, Virgil swore on Grimm's Fairy Tales, and Roman swore on a VHS of Disney's Pinocchio.
Deceit hopping around from "lying isn't always bad because it freed Europe from N*zi control" to "We live in a society" is the reason why he's my favorite character.
same. i love all of them as characters, but hes just entertaining in a way they arent. hes got a disney villain vibe about him and i can never get enough of it.
Logan’s said lies before, then afterwards deceit appears in front of mr. cry’s a lot, grabs a mace and throws it at Logan and smashes his head in while also kicking Virgil’s balls, I come around from behind Roman and snap his neck, then we tackle Thomas and Patton together Or maybe that was a dream, hmm idk, but we came very close to trying that
he said that he actually likes the purple, he just is thinking, as he is his anxiety, that what other people are thinking about the purple hair but then i guess he was like haha jokes on you i dont care what other people think bOOm now im purple
honestly I love the little details, when Deceit is disguised as Logan, he: 1.was wearing the wrong tie 2. stood up from bending over at the side, trying to make it look like he rose up 3. was also slightly wobbly 4. yelled "LIES" instead of "FALSEHOOD" 5. said "I, the brilliant Logan" which seemed really out of character
Did anyone notice that Roman summarized Janus's entire point when he was on trial? "She's her own person. Her being there would be for me. Her not being there wouldn't erase the fact that it's my big day." Thomas showing up at Lee and Mary Lee's wedding means a lot to THEM, but nothing to HIM.
I love that deceit makes everyone ELSE swear to tell the truth by putting their hands on the book but he doesnt actually do it himself. His cheeky “I know I do” is a great little hint to that.
So we got Remus and Deceit, the dark parts to Roman and Patton. But what about Logan? Is Virgil his dark side? Does that mean there is a light side to Virgil or has virgil changed to be a light side instead of a dark side?
I love how Deceit then starts pushing Virgil about how reluctant he was to share his name. As the audience when this video came out, we assumed it was due to how big of a moment it was for Virgil and that he didn't like Deceit mentioning it for his own gain. But then we hit the current timeline and realise that Virgil was terrified that if Deceit continued down that path, he might also reveal that Virgil was originally a Dark Side and the Thomas in this video did not know that information at the time.
When he talked about leaving the stove on, I wasn't panicked because I can't even boil an egg let alone use the stove properly. Why the hell would I cook??
Deceit: Is it true you once said that *"Weddings are outdated overly expensive pageantry."?* Me: Omg how is his Virgil impression so great? Me ten seconds later: ... Oh... Right.
What I'm getting of Deceit's character aside from lies is that he genuinely tries to do for Thomas what he thinks he needs, he feels Thomas needs to do things for himself, and Deceit is an A N A R C H I S T.
The fact that Deceit said “LIES” instead of “FALSEHOOD” actually heckin killed me, cause I didn’t notice the other stuff, but when he said that I just went “dECEIT-“
My theripist is encouraging me to watch these and actually assigned this episode to me as a homework assignment. Thomas is really helping people. She's gonna start reccomending this series to her other clients as well.
Oh my gosh, that's amazing! I don't go to therapy, but this show is pretty much my comfort show and actually helps me go through my issues, so i can understand why your therapist would recommend it!!
i used this show in my therapy as well. though, i showed it to her and she loved the concept. virgil in particular has helped me a lot in terms of my anxiety. its super cool :D
Which wouldn’t have lead them to making the decision that Thomas was going to the wedding So Deceit actually helped them a lot by making at comment lmao
LunaFox 45 he might be the part of Tomas that embodies deceit but he’s still a voice like the others and while anxiety also started off seeming villainous it’s because he wanted to help but didn’t think anyone would listen to him if he was soft so he went emo and intimidating but still had the best interests at Heart and eventually became a good guy I think deceit and the duke also are “good” as they also want to help Tomas in their own ways like mentioned above deceit set up the court room and ended up being the reason tomas goes to the wedding and the duke helps Tomas accept that his creativity isn’t black and white
I love Janus going "What, how??" in a totally out of character voice for him, when Logan says Thomas would lose more if he missed the wedding 💀💀💀 And Roman using Thomas's hand to flip off Logan was ONE HUNDRED PERCENT Remus fucking around
Compromise: Thomas skips the wedding for the audition. However, Thomas calls his friends and takes them out to a super fancy restaurant, and give the wedding gift there. They'll understand if you need to do something for your career, and they'll appreciate that you took the time to consider them
That's exactly what I was saying like how come they get to have their happy day that makes the rest of their life and Thomas cant just bc they're his friends. Like what they said wasnt a compromise it was a sacrifice. In short, I was on deceits side the whole time
As much as I love this idea, would both parties realistically feel good about it? (Character) Thomas may still feel guilt for skipping the event, and while Lee and Mary Lee might agree to the terms, would it really make up for their friend missing their big day? Even if Lee and Mary Lee say they understand the situation, they might not and will feel upset about the decision made. In the span of things, they most likely would get over it, but people tend to prioritize feelings in the moment rather than in the future.
You know what bothered me? Deceit said that Virgil was a liar, since he didn't want to tell his name at first. (20:10) He himself didn't tell the others his name yet. Yes, he said that he's a liar himself and stands for that, but what bothered me is that he uses that against Virgil, sitting in “glass houses” himself.
Can I just say that I appreciate all the sassy remarks that are made in this video? 😂 *"Virgil! Uh-uh! I know you are not giving other people anxiety!"* *"Trifling ass-ailant"* *"Well, your face ruined my day so we'll call it even"* *"Oh, Honey no..."* *"Sweetheart"*
Janus is such a amazing character, he's like Virgil in the beginning. Acted like a villian but he isn't in a way. He wants to look out for Thomas, he wants what is best for him.
Sometimes I actually forget how good an actor Thomas is , I forget all these characters are still him and that just shows it. Really need to appreciate him more.
Just throwing this out there: If one of my friends passed up an opportunity like that to attend my wedding, even though they didn't really want to, I would be horrified. In this hypothetical situation, I'd likely stay married for some time after the wedding--it's not like it's a one-time-only opportunity to celebrate my marital status. They could come by for cake and sentiment some other time. Not a big deal.
that's what I'm saying!!! I totally agree! It's definitely a situation where you just talk to your friends and tell the truth! Nothing against the video but it kind of makes the only two options lie, or force yourself to go quietly, which is just not the only two options at all.
Aaaaaalso great how each side had their own book(/video) to swear on. Hawking's "the grand design" for Logan, Pinocchio for Roman, a Catholic Youth Bible for Patton. I can't make out what Virgil's is?
Bec Marie I don't know what it's called, could just be boredom, but I have this thing by which (it's a bi witch) my brain goes through all sorts of media while I'm working to keep me focused. Recently, I have been going through this and the Intrusive Thoughts episodes from beginning to end (though I skip over most of Logan's wordy explanations lol). And I always have to stop myself from grinning like a loon whenever I get to such lines as "You lost me," and "Done."
Yeah, but it's also true that Deceit did become a drama queen for a while. He went a bit too dramatic and over the top.Though a wedding is part of society, it's kind of useless to talk about whether society is good or not while the main topic should be whether the wedding means more to Thomas or not. It's friends or his job. A hard choice, but that's literally all it boils down into. Going to the wedding means that it might be awkward to meet with Mary Lee and Lee later in the future, giving up the opportunity means giving up a chance to become popular/ have a successful career which may not even work out in the first place. There is little need to argue about philosophy here. Give Logan a pencil to work out the math.
@@GirlInATesttube To be fair on the drama queen bit, Deceit was FINALLY getting attention from both Thomas and the Light Sides. I can totally understand him going over the top for a little while, especially with some of the other personalities *cough*Roman*cough* to contend against. I do prefer him when he's calmer however some of his drama queen moments are hilarious and needed, especially when you think about the fact that for ages, one of the only people he could hang out with was Remus.
It's crazy that despite literally being the personification of deceit, alot of what Deceit says rings true. Even his small jab, "It's so cool how you never listen to Roman." Ends up getting proven shortly after when Patton chastises Roman for supposedly wanting Thomas to lie, even though he actually was offended that Thomas thought that going to the callback was not a good enough reason to miss the wedding.
Roman: Can I just say it? Hes uhhh frickin....d- Deceit. Loganceit (Logan Deceit): LIES! Thomas: yeah definetly. Deceit just come out just. Just show yourself. Janus laughing evilly: Alright. Alright. Guilty as char- Virgil: Hi. Hello. What do you want. Janus: oh Virgil! I LOVE how you just ruined my dramatic introduction! *chef kiss x2* so good! Virgil: well your face ruined my day! So we’ll call it even!
Deceit: **Talks about society being a lie** Virgil: I can’t believe I’m saying this... but that was so edgy and over the top. *We’re talking about a wedding here!*
Ok but Deceit sometimes sounds like a teacher in this. He said “and we’re not focussing on that today” and “we’re just going to focus on the_________for today” then continues to give a lecture sooooo we all just had a history lesson today😐
Thomas says something here that’s interesting to me. After he’s found Guilty he tells Roman that he has to sentence him to a punishment. He’s literally punishing himself for wanting something over his friendship. The exact thing that Deceit is trying to get Thomas to understand is that he shouldn’t punish himself and yet he doesn’t speak up beyond ‘Thats not necessary’
I mean, I think he is still a fairly good side of him (as he wants to HELP Thomas) and he is still a bit of a manipulator, therefore he wants to have some control over Thomas and one way to do that is make sure you don’t push it too much? Kinda confusing but basically he is a nice manipulator or something? Idk
I think he did that because he knew that they wouldn't listen to him at this moment, so he waited until after the wedding, the argument with Patton, Roman and Logan, so he could come help thomas at a time when he the most desperate which is the only time any other side might consider listening to Janus.
That is a good point. After reading the original comment i was stumped; However, Deceit does in say gesture that he doesn't want thomas to feel like a lier. Example 1: Janus spoke out saying that he didn't want thomas's embarrassment to continue and that they should 'put him out of his misery.' (Despite the fact that he said it gloatingly, if he had said it sincerely this would make him vulnerable. He is supposed to deceitful after all, and a dark side. And if he is a lier, by gloating he was really meaning that he was sorry.) 2. When he said 'that's not really necessary-" He was interrupted by Roman. Perhaps he was just about to explain a message about self preservation, while the sides were at their lowest, the only time Janus had the chance to be listened too. I think that this sort of behaviour is fascinating... and makes the name reveal scene all the more important. He was being honest in the name reveal, an act Janus really struggles with. He must have issues regarding esteem, due to the fact he brings people down just to be heard, and can't participate with the other sides. The name reveal told us that he could expose himself if it meant that Thomas was safe, an example of why Janus is so important as a character. (Or im over thinking this a whole lot. Lol.)
I mean I realized the part where he said “do not let him or... his friends-“ pretty much says he was a friend. In other words, he paused before he said his friends because he doesn’t want Thomas to restrict him from showing up
Vigril: is your door locked? Me: JOKES ON U, IMA CHILD. IDC AND IDC IF MAH DOOR IS LOCKED virgil: did you forget to turn off the stove? Me: i can cook but I didn’t do it today.

Ruthie Schmidt No one? So you don’t care about your friends and family advice or opinions about you? Sorry lol I don’t understand when people say “I don’t give an duck about what people say about me”. Do they not care for strangers or do they not care for anyone at all?
@@edgarpal799 I think that generally means "I don't care what negative things people say about me" However I'm gonna go full Logan here... There is always at least some psychological affect when someone either compliments or insults you. No matter how much you "Don't care" there will always be some affect, if someone says they like your shirt you will probably wear it more because your brain has naturally associated compliments with happiness and therefore your shirt with happiness. Making you automatically choose it out. Therefore it is impossible to be not be affected by other people. Anyone who has a proper logical contradiction for this (Not just some made up fact) go ahead and tell me! I'm eager to hear constructive criticism and improve.
My jokes aren't funny I’m not trying to compliment you nor insult you. Just a curious question. You’re right tho, that’s why I was confused lol sometimes my “logical” side come out and interpret everything serious and oblivion to what other means as a “phrase” lol that’s me tho. Either way, it just a curious question.
Deceit getting more and more pissed off with the others is one of the most entertaining things ever. I genuinely think that he's the only competent side.
Thomas: "I plead the 6th" Deceit: "Oh honey, you mean the 5th. Thomas: "NO, I MEAN THE 6TH AMENDMENT!" Logan: *Raises his hand like (YEA TELL EM! FINALLY YOU LEARNT SOMETHING)*
I kinda feel bad for Logan. He got thrown into the back seat. For *no* reason. Also, Patton got thrown into the deep end. And Logan had to watch the whole train wreck that Deceit orchestrated.
5th amendment:you dont have to speak and people cant say your guilty bc you didn"t speak 6th amendment:speedy trial by jury and its a fair jury (or something like that i started forgetting it at the end)
The way Virgil acted when Deceit was talking to him about lying...and the way Virgil talked about Deceit and his "friends"... I get the feeling that Virgil wants to stay as far away from them as possible for a VERY specific reason...0.0
Good gods I'm going to die this I'd amazing. I feel like there is so much potential for more story on this and I'm screaming. "Don't let... _him_ , or any of his _friends_ to stay that long _again._ " I am quaking
I like how the bibles deceit used to swear them all to truth are different, Logan's is a math textbook, Romans is a disney VHS, Thomas' is a regular old leather bound bible, Pattons is a colorful paperback bible, and Virgil's is a red journal
Things I love about this video already: - Every time Deceit walks away from where he stands in the courtroom while cackling evilly or as an act of triumph - Logan shouting from the back of the room - The whole thing with Virg at the beginning(before the title sequence) - Deceit's courtroom outfit - How Virgil distrusts Deceit no matter what

Does anyone realized that if Deceit didn’t mention the fact that he doesn’t like the Nazis the whole court room thing wouldn’t have happened
Thomas needed an excuse
Which wouldn’t have lead them to making the decision that Thomas was going to the wedding
So Deceit actually helped them a lot by making at comment lmao
LunaFox 45 he might be the part of Tomas that embodies deceit but he’s still a voice like the others and while anxiety also started off seeming villainous it’s because he wanted to help but didn’t think anyone would listen to him if he was soft so he went emo and intimidating but still had the best interests at Heart and eventually became a good guy I think deceit and the duke also are “good” as they also want to help Tomas in their own ways like mentioned above deceit set up the court room and ended up being the reason tomas goes to the wedding and the duke helps Tomas accept that his creativity isn’t black and white

Compromise: Thomas skips the wedding for the audition. However, Thomas calls his friends and takes them out to a super fancy restaurant, and give the wedding gift there. They'll understand if you need to do something for your career, and they'll appreciate that you took the time to consider them
Did you just...
Meaning this whole entire episode was pointless.
That's exactly what I was saying like how come they get to have their happy day that makes the rest of their life and Thomas cant just bc they're his friends. Like what they said wasnt a compromise it was a sacrifice. In short, I was on deceits side the whole time
Justine Hornberger I frickin' love that idea. They each get their big days, but still acknowledge each others big day in a special way.

Janus is such a amazing character, he's like Virgil in the beginning. Acted like a villian but he isn't in a way. He wants to look out for Thomas, he wants what is best for him.

I like the small details: everyone takes the oath except for deceit.

Aaaaaalso great how each side had their own book(/video) to swear on. Hawking's "the grand design" for Logan, Pinocchio for Roman, a Catholic Youth Bible for Patton. I can't make out what Virgil's is?

@@stranguhh2878 they're all played by thomas so-
Deceit: *Talks about society, death, living above the law, corruption*
Virgil: We’re talking about a wedding-
What Virgil doesn’t know is that a wedding is a part of society.
It's crazy that despite literally being the personification of deceit, alot of what Deceit says rings true. Even his small jab, "It's so cool how you never listen to Roman." Ok but Deceit sometimes sounds like a teacher in this. He said “and we’re not focussing on that today” and “we’re just going to focus on the_________for today” then continues to give a lecture sooooo we all just had a history lesson today😐
"i'm through with my questioning."
"correction, that was more like lecturing."
Well, I figured that it was because both Patton and Virgil wouldnt let him if he tried, so he just kind of had to give up.
Long words ó~ò
Lol.)

There is always at least some psychological affect when someone either compliments or insults you. No matter how much you "Don't care" there will always be some affect, if someone says they like your shirt you will probably wear it more because your brain has naturally associated compliments with happiness and therefore your shirt with happiness.
