this is such an inane comment cause first off it isn't even correct Obama had 332 electoral votes to Romneys 206 and Obama had over 5 million more votes.... but on top of that every president was "decently close to losing" solely due to the nature of our first past the post system and the fact we only have 2 parties to vote between unlike places like Europe where in Germany, France, UK their multiple parties to vote between
@@debodatta7398 I meant compared to the first time he ran. If you compare how many votes he got (ultimately) from the first time he ran to the second, there’s an enormous drop and the 2012 race was much closer than the 2008 one.

We dont have a set 2 party system for presidential candidates. the two parties are just too popular for the average person who doesnt research enough to vote differently from those two parties. And the electoral vote is typically based on the popular vote per state anyways. Somewhere around 26 U.S. states made it illegal for the electoral college in their state to vote against the popular vote. But yea its still a rigged system because only the party that wins the popular vote actually has their electors vote, and those electors are chosen by the party.
If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, Trump did entertain the idea of running during Obama's 2nd run in 2012, but didn't get enough votes to be the Republican candidate
