Without a doubt one of the best songwriters alive today. Met him years ago at a show in Baltimore with the help of my aunt and uncle who are longtime friends of his and he was one of the most calm and humble people I've ever met.
elijahcoh oh man lucky. I'm from Maryland.. Why couldn't you have been my friend and brought me with you!? Ha. Yeah I don't get how I've seen him say he doesn't want people to be disappointed when they meet him. He just seems so real, and easy to talk to.
100% one of those singer/songwriters that you can just tell are human as funk. What I mean by that is they experience emotions to the fullest. Elliott Smith, Coner Oberst, and one of my favorites for awhile now John Moreland come off the same to me.
I just want to give Conor Oberst a hug. I must not be the only person to react to his music this way. Just...tell him everything is going to be ok. He must get that a lot. Probably in the "don't touch me" crowd. Great set!
0:00 - Barbary Coast 4:25 - Afterthought 14:04 - Mamah Borthwick (A Sketch) 18:49 - Till St. Dymphna Kicks Us Out This performance is SO GOOD, especially with the accordionist from The Felice Brothers. Ohh chefs kiss.
I'm Wide Awake, Lifted, and Fevers and Mirrors surely have somethings to say about that, but it's all subjective. I'd certainly put Ruminations with those, though.
For me it's Fevers and Mirrors first and Lifted second. But I found his music in 2002 and Fevers and Mirrors was the first I heard and it hit me hard. It will always be my favorite. I know every word.
His “At the Bottom of Everything” from his I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning album was the opening song on the S8 mid season premiere...the “Carl” episode...it’s what brought me here. Conor has grown up and Damn this is so freaking good! I’ve always loved him but somehow quit listening to him several years ago...like five years or so ago, lol, a bit more than several. He’s always been an awesome lyricist and I’ve always loved his voice but I believe he even sounds better now. I’ve been listening to him all day and have enjoyed every minute of it...So Happy to have found him again!
I love how positive the comment section is. People have different takes, but everyone is willing to look from a different perspective, and see the other side. Great session
Man this feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago at the same time. I was living in Seattle at the time an really going through it. I couldn't afford to make it to Bumbershoot that weekend, but I remember going out to my car to listen to this KEXP performance live at full volume while crying my eyes out. In some ways it was better than going to the festival- at least for me at the time. Thanks Conor & thanks KEXP! 🙏
The new room is beautiful. These songs are beautiful. The Felice brothers are also maybe beautiful! Haha. Love this album, listening to Mamah got me looking into FLW, only to find he built an unknown cabin in Canada, on an island, close to my hometown. Now I want to find it:)
Like ivy on a white wall we strive Like rain on a brick wall we fall, always contradicting life I wrote it listening to Mama bothwick. Nice styles, love the gypsy feeling to it with the violin and the hand played harmonica. Best wishes from Sweden
I started listening to bright eyes when I was Eleven. Twenty Four now, and still love it all the same. He's a poet, Mr. Conor, and I'm so happy I get to see more of him as the days come. If he wins the Nobel for literature in the near future, remember folks, you heard it here first.
I have just discovered Conor Oberst and I love him! Beautiful words, his face shows that he feels so much. Don't know the name of this song, does anyone know please? I totally love it
Is this out as a podcast? So i can listen to this on my phone without it having to be on the youtube app with the video. Would love to be able to listen to this anywhere
UA-cam red or Premium, has UA-cam music at no extra cost, which streams all of its videos. No commercials for $12.99 and leave UA-cam without the music or video turning off.
Lol! It's not gone, he's just bending it. Go to 12:23 and he reaching up to scratch and you can see it. Though I'll admit I read your comment and was shocked for a minute too lol
to all those very few people that own the summer we went west's last tape.. "I'd write you a song conor oberrrrrst would wriiiiite, drive over to your house in the pink twiiiliiiight"
I kind of agree. It’s cool they were obviously feeling it and doing their thing but personally for me I just feel like it didn’t mesh too well. It’s alright though
djeurosham if he had done it with a drummer and the whole shebang, it probably would’ve been amazing. But this felt halfway between the rawness of the ruminations album and salutations it sooo feels odd lol
Y'all, French Revolution, m-Kay, no more gentle tender loving songs. It's over, Elliot Smith was tongue n cheek about it when was a counter reaction to Grunge. No it's more than been done. Music will stagnate in these old sacred cows. I'm just frustrated and bored.
Skate Boards I must completely disagree. Not only is each Album or song unique and well written but his gift to express each song in full detail. Pure raw talent that has been kind enough to share his life in a way we can only wish we could. But 2 each is own. With all respect: JennVee
Man he's tired. Needs to quit being an idol, dancing for the dumb crowds numb, for a while. Take a hiatus Conor, and hate us! Stop creating for the swine, wallow in your own mud content for a while. Need to love yourself, they don't, just a bunch of selfish users. Come back when you don't care anymore. Or burst, Oberst! (from a president who talks to God)

For sure. I love this man. I can't wait for new shows in Germany.
Me and my brother followed him at a concert. He was hella cool.
Proves, easily, that this is one of our top songwriters of the last 30 years.

Conor Oberst is someone who grows on you over time but ultimately it gets to a point where his lyrics hit really close to home
I just want to give Conor Oberst a hug. I must not be the only person to react to his music this way. Just...tell him everything is going to be ok. He must get that a lot. Probably in the "don't touch me" crowd. Great set!

Man, I love this. I'm so glad these KEXP sessions exist.
That god damn voice 🙌🏼
Yeah KEXP sessions really show how talented a lot of these artists can be. Especially Conor.
Violin killing it
+ James Felice 2nd voice.
The guy's crazy good. Esp. liked the violin solo on Afterthought.
Fiddle* 😉
He is the best writer of my generation by far 💖 absolutely love this man
Massive fan. Upside Down Mountain, Ruminations & Salutations are his best works yet. Thanks for the music
Upside Down Mountain was an awesome album. I get chills every time I listen to Desert Island Questionnaire
My personal favorites:
1. Upside Down Mountain
2. Fevers & Mirrors
3. Down In The Weeds
4. Salutations
5. I’m Wide Awake
& maybe Digital Ash

Yeah his poetry has gotten so much better it’s ridiculous.

This show is amazing. The GOAT singer/songwriter.
It worked because the mind blowing material CO keeps putting out can't be ignored.... "If you write it,they will come"....!!
i cant believe ive never seen this before -- a fantastic performance

He’s so talented. Love him so much ❤️
Amazing I saw him in Portland the next day, it was the best show I have been to in sooo long!
i don't wanna feel stuck, baby
i just wanna get drunk before noon
Like ivy on a white wall we strive

I wrote it listening to Mama bothwick. Nice styles, love the gypsy feeling to it with the violin and the hand played harmonica. Best wishes from Sweden
Beautiful lines
So good!
The interviews always make it interesting!
lol it is so hard to take seriously here because of fevers and mirrors

what an awesome performance
And these bandmates create a really nice trio for this take on these songs.
TY Conor
Sacred till the end
I would love to be in is brain !!! Genius 🙏
Yay! music is still alive
Love!!! Conor!!!
So good!!!
This is kick ass. Keep on rockin in the free world.
AWESOME!!!
This reminds me of the scripted interview on Fevers and Mirrors...
Dakota Workman shit that’s like... shit man😂
Nailed this comment
Love Troy’s voice! Absolute radio voice. Funny my ex-husband is from Mitchell, SD. Been there and saw the Corn 🌽 Palace, the thing to see.
Beautiful
The Calendar Hung Itself. Again.
I have just discovered Conor Oberst and I love him! Beautiful words, his face shows that he feels so much. Don't know the name of this song, does anyone know please? I totally love it
The best
This radio guy has listened to "An Attempt to Tip the Scales", right?!? Life imitating art, very trippy.
Beauiful
The greatest
hermoso.

lmao bro that's greg farley on the fiddle!!!
that voice makes me sad.
If I could meet one person I'd pick him.
Conor is such a sweetie
💗💔💗💔
Is that James Felice? The felice brothers are so good.
😍
accordion player from Felice Brothers?
ah, yep. both of em. c ool.
That´s not an interview with Connor Oberst. It is a series of preplanned questions delivered to Connor Oberst.
It's also not Conor Oberst. It's his friend doing an impression of him.
Is this out as a podcast? So i can listen to this on my phone without it having to be on the youtube app with the video. Would love to be able to listen to this anywhere

who is the guy on the accordion? he looks familiar
Members of The Felice Brothers are his live backing band.
James Felice
💓:)
Woah.. he is missing his right ring finger...! Anyone know what happened?? 🥺
Lol! It's not gone, he's just bending it. Go to 12:23 and he reaching up to scratch and you can see it.
Though I'll admit I read your comment and was shocked for a minute too lol
Bright Eyes?
sostrother same singer
The cordian player belongs on a pirate ship.
to all those very few people that own the summer we went west's last tape.. "I'd write you a song conor oberrrrrst would wriiiiite, drive over to your house in the pink twiiiliiiight"
He finally looks older than 16
He has time traveled forward in the past 5 years
Gotta be honest, he doesn't need the crutch of the band. They're just ruining the experience.
I kind of agree. It’s cool they were obviously feeling it and doing their thing but personally for me I just feel like it didn’t mesh too well. It’s alright though

Comments do not pass the vibe check
I like his new music, soooo much better than the Bright Eyes era.
Well, I like both.
well thne you are a fool my friend
LOL -__-
true story. new stuff is good but bright eyes was fucking classic
Anyone that spell "then" correctly is the fool. Probably a Trump voter.
Too bad it couldn't have been less about Troy Nelson...Basically an entire song could have replaced his ego driven dialogues.
Disagree.
No ego, just nervous/excited to meet and talk to Conor. Poor guy
He has been repeating himself for years...The same formula over and over....
the beautiful repetition of meaningful music as opposed to repetitive trolling...mmm
Actually I find Conor's music really diverse, every album is extremely different from one another and stands on its own merits.
Skate Boards I must completely disagree. Not only is each Album or song unique and well written but his gift to express each song in full detail. Pure raw talent that has been kind enough to share his life in a way we can only wish we could. But 2 each is own. With all respect: JennVee
stop watching this then, bye 👋

The 'cordian player really rips on Afterthought
