Thanks for the in depth review. Everyone else does races to show off the gameplay but no one has done the technical side of things. Really appreciate this.
If you're serious, Nintendo only planned to sell these two kits for a limited time until March 2021. Check the announcement on your Switch for buying details, if they come in your area.
@@DaMu24 I dont think thats true. Thats for the Mario 3D game combo and the online Mario MP. In fact, if these do well enough, I expect more carts. Possible a Yoshi or Princess Peach?
Wow, that was awesome! I wasn't even aware of these little karts! Some great effects there with the various sensors. I love the knocking on the camera effect!
It is very nicely done. I think Nintendo have done well and I hope it works for them. Price will probably hold them back at £100 a kart BUT I'm sure Santa will be delivering quite a few :-)
There is an interesting thing about these karts I'd like to share: My Luigi once fell from a table onto rough asphalt from a height of 78 cm and didn't suffer as much damage as I would've thought. The kart only got a fairly mild scratch on the front plate (but that's replacable), a pretty deep scratch on the front bumper and a mild deformation on an upper corner of the camera housing. In saying that, it still works perfectly without any technical damage as far as I can tell. And yes neither the camera lens nor glas got damaged. I'm not saying you should drop yours but I want say that these karts can take quite a bit of damage. So in case you might be worried about crashing into stuff like furniture or each other (like I was worried about before), then you don't really have to. Context for the first part for those who care: I basically wanted to show (off) my kart to a friend and his dad who are huge RC fans and even built their own trucks in the past. I let my kart drive back and forth on their table outside and then the accident happened... So my Joy Cons lost connection to the console (even though they were attached directly to it) and I learned the hard way, that these karts continue the last input given upon controller disconnect, which in this case was driving backwards...
Vince, amazing video. UA-cam is full of mario kart live home circuit videos that don't even scratch the surface, but yours is a complete guide. Congrats and thanks for the video.
My house is tiny and I got one. Been enjoying it quite a lot. It’s all about smart circuit building rather than having a lot of space. As some other comments say, the range is quite poor anyways.
In the trailer, they show a large living room. My living room is as small as that living room is large if that makes sense, and you gotta be creative with your tracks. You're probably not recreating SNES or GBA tracks like some people are, but you're making track layouts that probably wouldn't be made by people with large living rooms.
I wonder how long till someone guts this thing, places camera and all sensors in a quadcopter and modifies the 4 cardboard markers to better to flying. And does mario kart flying.
In tv mode it looks really good because if you lost something in the house, you could find it using the Mario kart in one spot before looking anywhere else
I'm a long time fan of the Trojan brand that was in F1 when Mr Agg of Trojan teamed with McLaren producing some sexeh F1 cars. Mr Agg built his South London empire on Lambretta scooters, Lambretta 3 wheelers and the famous Trojan bubble car and of course Trojan is the byword of old ska records which fits in nicely with thems of us who like old Vespa's and Lambretta's :) Agg was under no illusion of the infamous poor reliability of 1960's Lambretta's, he even offered a free set of new walking (or pushing boots as he nicknamed 'em) with every Lambretta sold causing Innocenti to withdraw his concessions licence on more than one occasion :D
This toy is absolutely amazing, and was far better than expected when I got my son one for xmass. Thanks so much for pointing out the motor protection, I will feel far more comfortable letting little kids play with it from now on knowing they cant fry the motor.
Thanks for the interesting video! I know the game has been out for a while, but I never realized it had these features. What brought me to this video was the news that the karts can actually drift, something the developers didn't think would be possible at first. Now I wonder: how exactly does that work? Did you figure it out?
Loved the video. Thanks! Btw, if I could have add one more thing, would personally liked to know the steepest angle degree that Mario/Luigi can still travel up a ramp. Good to know for people creating courses.
Very nice video man, I don't have it yet but I'm thinking on getting it. But I have a question, let's say you want a quick play and you don't want to set up a track , can you play as a normal Mario kart ? With all the tracks and things , or you can play only with the RC ?
This isn’t a hate comment toward Vince because I love his channel but who else is really mad when they see someone with 2 or more sets because they can’t get their hands on even one
Hey Mr. Vince, on #19, you showed how the wheels (ingame) don't move based on the buttons being pressed but rather on actually motion. However, did you notice that Luigi's hair moved despite no motion? (Let me know if you see this)
We can see the QR code but not every time. The code seem to have the local IP address and perhaps the user/pass and SSID combination to connect to the switch local network. There are some other special characters, sometimes Japanese characters that seem to be an encrypted message.
Idk when it happened but they did add splits screen play however it does put more strain on the connection meaning you can’t go to crazy going through multiple rooms as it will likely lose connection to both cars. This was my experience anyway.
I think they should also make a mobile version of the app. “But what will we control it with?” I hear you say. It’s the perfect time for Nintendo to allow JoyCons to connect to mobile devices, both recognised as one controller.
Or you could rotate your phone or on screen buttons. If you own joy cons then you probably have the switch it self and might as well just get the switch version

Hi @My Mate VINCE, thank you very much for this interesting video. I just received my MKLHC pack. The game does not allow to use more than four gates. Have you tried to use more gates? I tried and it seems that it might be possible to "hack" the game by leading the game to believe that you are passing again under the same gate. Other question. Have you tried to use the car wheel from Toy-Con 03 Nintendo Labo set with MKLHC? thank you very much for your time
Ok... But how the RC cars react to each other in multiplayer? It doesn't seem possible that the camera detects when say the Luigi kart is in front yet it can get hit by items. So it most be that the software uses it's position on the track to register the hit? Thanks for taking the time to deliver a more "clinical" look into the product.
I like that you tried ramps. I also did some testing on this and ~13 degrees seems to be the golden angle. Anything above that and it struggles at speeds below 100cc. This kind of bummed me out because I REALLY wanted to make wario stadium from n64; but, it could never be true to scale. I have also tried making overpasses and such and it seems to just place the track in the same plane and KIND OF confuses the com players.
For me what is missing to know is, if its really possible to manipulate the other multiplayer car with an ability, like any kind of shell. Would be good to know
When I noticed the local wifi I thought the L was for Luigi and thought that if I were to connect to Mario, the L would be replaced with an M, now I see what the L is for local wifi. L is real
