@@Reaconteur the point of the show is that the normal team-based play of soccer isnt working for japan, and so Blue Lock the facility is meant to create a new player who can win games for japan. they are trying to make the best striker, someone who can "turn the 0 into a 1" (score the first goal and get the ball rolling wit hthe rest of the team). There is actually a lot of teamwork in the show, as the entire first season is almost entirely 12 v 12 games with different positions. Writing about ego also works pretty well in my opinion, as any person who has done performing or sports most likely has an ego. Using "ego" in this show is like the power system, where diving further and indulging their egos helps them push their bodies further to perform more crazy feats. I can agree with some predictable writing though, as almost every new enemy is better than isagi but he manages to use his brain to find the perfect play and get the upper hand. This is a pretty common trope in most shonens though (tough enemy is better than mc, mc finds a new way to overcome)
dumb plot because a striker isn’t going to carry a team, it’s a team based game and is probably the most team oriented sport in the world, if japan is losing in soccer they don’t need to breed a hard carry striker because it’s not a thing the initial plot of the entire manga is already poorly written
