After crippling weapons shortage, how significant is new US aid package? | DW News

- Ukraine's foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on his European Union counterparts to step up their commitments to Kyiv's war effort, to prevent what he described as 'worst-case scenarios.'
Many EU foreign and defense ministers meeting in Luxembourg expressed relief over the US House of Representatives approving a massive foreign aid package for Ukraine over the weekend. But the EU ministers stopped short of pledging more Patriot air defense systems as has been urgently requested by Kyiv.

EU is great at promising aid, but less good at actually making the delivery, it would be great if they could get better at that
With the US playing bodyguard, the EU has been able to focus on peacetime economy for awhile. It really sucks when that changes at all. We have the EU to credit for a great deal of technological advancement due to this unique situation. I know this have caused a significant shift in the EU military complex. I know it has in the US, obviously. Even if republicans win in November, this aid passing how it did means there are certain guarantees for continued support. Mind you, the EU does contribute greatly to NATO at all times. Times change. Invade a NATO country if you want to see what they can all really do. I don't want to be that invader *AT ALL*.
@@Perri_Redder The demilitarisation in europe wasnt because of the US at all. Thats a tale US-politics tell their people.
It was because people thought after the horror of the cold war, that demilitarisation was the solution for "enemies" to see that they to could demilitarise too. Therefore creating a peace-loop. No, the F-15C/D/E are all limited availability aircraft. This is different from the F-16 which was built in massive numbers and as many as 60 USAF F-16's are being retired in order to fund F-35 purchases
@@pogo1140 thx bro, but I know. I was surprised because I heard no one, prior to this, to even mention transferring F-15's. It's got a lot of capabilities beyond the F-16.

where is Germany and France and the rest of EU countries? Still not gearing up weapon production and support for Ukraine? Step up, step up quickly. You know US is not going to be able to support 2 or more wars at the same time.
Probably the delay was good to ensure that Ukraine rationalises and controls the use of scaled munition wisely as it takes time to manufacture and replenish stocks. With Indo Pacific and West Asian pressures the West cannot afford to deplete reserves. Count your " bullets" , prioritise effective use and help the West stabilise and remain balanced overall in this attack to change world economic order. Use the current allotment wisely.

How many Nuclear bomb shelters does the US money purchase?
On gas it was suggested by France to provide rent defense and then let the individual country manage.
At the time it was just USA selling for their sites so there was not a real market.
Even with Canada there providing it might not be perfect as us provides protection to Africa aka Israel sites and they are partners.
Andy said he would have a plan for this at the time with how to manage security remotely and with their people.
I'm fine with bullets getting out and stolen as they would be just regulars but missiles there would have to be a good system to manage and protect them from being stolen.
Going with concerns then and mine.
I don't have all answers and variables.
France seemed business savvy and came up with more variables over time.
Not managing yourself would mean others who have it could be still influenced by others who have pull like David.
You wouldn't get heat for providing defense and stealing and monopolizing it though. Just about rate increases and from USA about being mean to them and taking a 'client'.
How many innocent Ukranians have died because of this delay ! All over the media all we see is "free free Palestine" WHAT ABOUT THE GENOCIDE IN UKRAINE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ukraine should be given everything and military capabilities that they can defend their territory and defeats Russian aggression, BBC thank you for the insights. Glory to Ukraine!
In Ukraine there is no genocide and its an attacking army commiting horrific crimes but fighting against defending army.
In Palestine its any army that antrapped millions of unarmed civilians and murdering them all by starving and bombing them, making it a huge murder-musements-park.
Both are horrific and need to be dealt with. But it realy is incomparable. And if you insist, then the horrors of Palestine are by far more evil in their nature.
To be honest, beside WWII I cant think of anything as evil as what is going on in Palestine... Not the holodomore, not the japanese warcrimes, not even the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki...
What about the war in Haiti and south Sudan
What are you on? Isreal eliminated more civilians in 2 months than Russia and Ukraine COMBINED FOR in 2 years. There is no genocide in Ukraine, the UAF simply picked a fight it couldn't win. Reap what you've sew.
This aid package is more US domestical motivated than anything else.
The bulk of the money will never leave the US anyway and go from the
taxpayers into the pockets of the big weapons manufacturers.
What the Ukraine gets in cash are loans. Good luck with the backpayment
on that one.
Come on EU. Each country should give one Patriot system to Ukraine. Stop relying on the US all the time.
If Europe is not going to send more weapons to Ukraine then they should at least improve NATO defenses and infrastructure within their own countries. Build more bases in Eastern Europe. Build fortifications and shelters. Invest urgently in their own military capabilities. Take the threat seriously.
What were the wars in Europe that Russia started?
Answer that before ramping up arms.
Russia is at war now. Putin has dreams of imperialist expansion out to the maximum extent of previous Soviet influence and beyond.
The EU's ability to support the fight in Ukraine would be strengthened if the European Central Bank (ECB) acted in the same way as the US Federal Reserve. Here in the EU, the central bank is content to pursue an austerity monetary policy that is highly destructive to economic growth. If the US Federal Reserve were taken as a model, the ECB could print, say, EUR 20 billion to buy arms and ammunition for Ukraine. As a result, the euro would weaken against other currencies, but that would only be good for foreign trade.

I'm Glad the US passed the Bill, however , Europe has to step up, the US can not be guaranteed upon to keep funding what is a European war. I think the EU has to start thinking in terms of a minimum of 1% of their GDP as funding support for Ukraine to defend itself against Russia .

LOL Isolationists. Try Putinists.
Effectively. Only because Russia does have the capability to win in a protracted conflict if western countries become more introverted and stop supporting Ukraine. The west simply cannot afford to focus only on domestics. However, military complex funding is positive domestic economic growth, we just do not like it. That industry is all about killing people, it's pretty reasonable to assume western countries hate killing people. That's a Russia thing, Russia sucks.
money printer go brrrrrrrrrrrr
They took their own sweet time in unblocking the air to Ukraine, for playing their own petty games.
Congratulations to the MAGA Republicans, it takes real effort and commitment to damage the American hegemony so much.
SO, which US city or shore did Putin land on? Or even on this continent?
Alot of Russian mothers and wives about to be sad soon....

If Trump gets in you might as well move Putin into the white house. I vote for Tramp is a vote for Putin.
Ukraine gets more funding, n more Americans disapproval of funding it. Congrats a double win.
money well spent by my US congressmen --- i guess you're part of the 27% who voted against Ukraine aid.
@@kevinkanter2537 as a real leftist I’m against feeding Military industrial complex as principal, only self funding direct threats against the homeland. American rehabilitation first, besides we clearly don’t have our priorities straightened out. Priorities getting Americans off the streets first before sending money to anyone.
@@alex4863 Strange that your "priorities" exactly match those dictated by the ruzzian troll farm masters.
@@Comm.DavidPorter n I’m sure your “priorities” exactly match those dictated by the CIA, wanna play this elementary thinking game?
