They go down within some hours to one day max and also too many users at the same time. Experienced now in Germany in the great flood. I'm looking for a sat phone now.
I live in Seattle area. I have been struggling with the very same model for years while hunting. Isatphone is ok if you live closer to the equator and there is absolutely clean sky above and around. Try to use it somewhere in the mountain 😂 Finally decided to switch to Iridium. Huge huge huge ( did i say huge ) improvement.
Yes you are right Borhan, Iridium is going to be the satellite phone of choice for most of our customers in mountainous areas 40 degrees north or south of the equator.
Good presentation Eric. I've been using the same model as yours while I'm away from home especially offshore. Yup, superb and handy all the time. I still do keep it. Good to bring while jungle trekking, camping where there's no mobile reception for normal handphones. Also, the good thing is that it has the SOS trigger button when in an emergency. Till here, cheers!
wow, the latency is amazing! I wonder if the other party is in a different country it would be more because each one will have to connect to a different satellite rather than both being connected to the same satellite.
Yes, the isatphone 2 can receive a call while the antenna is stowed and phone is in pocket. As long as you are outside in the open. To pickup the call you will need to extend the antenna for the signal to become stronger and conduct a quality voice call.
How's that possible when you just got done saying that if you pointed the antenna down during your office call or changed ears with the phone the call would drop, but it will ring with it folded up and in your pocket?@@SatellitePhoneStoreSanDiego

Without the rollover option unused minutes are lost. But there is a small cost rollover option (about $10/mo) that lets you accumulate the unused minutes each month and transfer them to the next. This can go indefinitely as long as you keep an active service plan.

The satellite phones gets a +8707 XXXX XXXX phone number from Inmarsat and a +8816 XXXX XXXX number from Iridium so we are currently not able to port in USA numbers. But thank you for the feedback!
It’s recommended both parties have a satellite phone just in case connectivity at both locations are down but you can call any cell phone or landline from a Satellite Phone.
The Can-am is the most fun vehicle we've been driving! Considering everywhere we drove it there was no cell reception, a satellite phone would be a great addition to any Can-am out there.
Inmarsat not work in mountains! very bad. Thuraya, Globalstar work good, but Inmarsat can not find network. Only if you climbing at top of mountains, the sattelite work. But if you under not work. Test in different places of mountains. And why can not send Message from GSM phone to Inmarsat?

Sat Phones are honestly super cool when you think about it, definitely not something you want to cheap out on when you need it!
That’s why you get iridium.

3:13... Q: Basically you're saying we can't have our head between the satellite and the phone or the call will drop - So how is anyone to know where the satellite is?
usually the satellites have a fixed position in the sky, just check online where it is.
Will a Sat phone successfully dial out and connect in a full, grid down, SHFT scenario?
This is so cool:)
How do you know wat part of the sky the satilight is in? I'm since you "have 2 point it directly at the sat" 🤔
The sats are permanently (unlike a lot of satellites) over the EQUATOR, so in USA that's SOUTH, at often say a 45+- degree angle above the horizon.
I have a question, a satellite phone could be tracked by other people?
Of course
