That moment when the director of Anchorman and the other guys wins an Oscar. Jokes aside though, I fucking loved the big short. Great movie, you all should see it.
Totally Deserving! They pulled such a technical script off so seamlessly. Exposition, pacing, layering, juxtapositioning, depth, humor, communication... everything. Super inspiring.
This is the first time I've seen people who have made fan favorite movie or movies that they like to make up many times in the past, make serious movies and ending up winning an Oscar. Congrats Adam McKay!
"Tell me the difference between stupid and illegal and I'll have my wife's brother arrested" hehehe it gets me every fuckin' time, well deserved Mr. Randolph and Mr. McKay.
Adam used to be head writer for Saturday Night Live. This is the first time that someone either currently or formally involved with that show has won an Oscar. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that, not even Adam's Wikipedia page.
You know what's sad? It's an Adam McKay film but this time it was not produced by him or Will Ferrell. If they were both producers, we would not only say Academy Award Winner Adam McKay but also Academy Award Nominee Will Ferrell.
I hope people realise The Big Short actually happened. It actually *fucking* happened in our lifetimes! Without this book/film majority of us affected would have no idea why. Now I hope they understand it's because of greed, overconfidence, hubris and perverse incentives accumulating into an absolute monster of a crisis
Each screenplay category presented by someone already won an Oscar Original Screenplay (Spotlight) by Charlize Theron Adapted Screenplay (The Big Short) by Russell Crowe
supermariofan03 totally agreed. Steve Jobs and Big Short are great but The Martian is amazing. The screenplay is Oscar worthy. Not only is it super well written and funny, it has also been praised for being scientifically accurate and 95 percent accurate to the book it’s based on.
This happens more often than you think: - Michael Douglas presented Best Picture the year GLADIATOR won (he starred in another nominated film that year: TRAFFIC). - Amy Adams presented Adapted Screenplay the year her film ARRIVAL was also nominated (MOONLIGHT won that category). - Ben Affleck and Matt Damon presented Original Screenplay the year MANCHESTER BY THE SEA won (for which Damon received a Best Picture nomination as one of its producers) (this makes sense partially since Affleck and Damon both jointly won that category before) - William Hurt presented Best Actress the year after his win to Marlee Matlin for CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD (Hurt also starred in it and was also nominated for Best Actor that year). The list goes on.
freedom of articlie as free doom can planting in us from 60 years some kind of companies in movies world made it message for the world when acting 12 angey men i did nott get it until now now >>big short carry out the same your thank you my friendo carrell your ploops make that math lesson a movie
I don't think you know what you're talking about. THE BIG SHORT is not ANCHORMAN, it's unfair to compare it just because the same guy wrote both. It's essentially a feature-length video essay based on a dense non-fiction book about the 2008 financial crisis, I don't think it had more weight over 20-somethings than a movie about the guy who invented the iPhone.
Terrible introduction! Nobody can agree or disagree if an adapted screenplay is based on a novel, short story, play or tv series because it doesn't work like that. You have to accept the fact that works based on another source material is an adapted screenplay.
Ryan Gosling presenting the award to the guy who directed him in the movie must have been an honor
ryan gosling and russel crow were ascting like their characters in the nice guys
The Gosling-Crowe sketch was hilarious.
*GOSLING HAS LEGIT COMEDY CHOPS!!* I want to see this dude in more comedies! The Nice Guys is such an underrated movie.
The scene where Gosling is in the bathroom and he's trying to hold the gun on Crowe but the bathroom stall keeps closing-I was in TEARS
For me, The Big Short was the best movie of 2015
It is a masterpiece
It was my favorite as well
sorry buddy good movie not in the same league as wall street & glengarry Glenn Ross
Whenever someone responds with "sorry buddy", or "honey" they're usually pretentious pricks...
Absolutely
@@hoganholo99 Sorry buddy, but they're ALWAYS pretentious pricks.
From Academy Award Winner Adam Mckay comes "Anchorman 3"
cant wait to see that in the trailer
1:34 Russell looking at Ryan: Hey, your movie won.
That moment when the director of Anchorman and the other guys wins an Oscar.
Jokes aside though, I fucking loved the big short. Great movie, you all should see it.
I saw The Big Short on Netflix and it is INCREDIBLE
Daniel Ewenkhare Yes, I saw it on Netflix too and it was fantastic but Diego Pisful, it deffo was Oscar-worthy
Huh, I haven’t actually watched Carol yet. how is it?
@Diego Pisfil, I know what it’s about. But how is it overall?
@Diego Pisful, I’ll be sure to check it out. But seriously, The Big Short was very good.
Why does Adam McKay look like he'd be a character from a Pixar movie?
Totally Deserving! They pulled such a technical script off so seamlessly. Exposition, pacing, layering, juxtapositioning, depth, humor, communication... everything. Super inspiring.
I can't stop listening to Russell's beautiful, deep voice...The Gladiator was getting older a bit, but I still admire him...
This is the first time I've seen people who have made fan favorite movie or movies that they like to make up many times in the past, make serious movies and ending up winning an Oscar. Congrats Adam McKay!
This segment from Ryan and Russel is gold!!
"Tell me the difference between stupid and illegal and I'll have my wife's brother arrested" hehehe it gets me every fuckin' time, well deserved Mr. Randolph and Mr. McKay.

David O Russell stands up and wants to congratulate, and they dont give a fuck :D
Very true. Like many, I have high hopes that one day David O. Russell does or says something wrong that Hollywood kicks him out for good.
Man 2016 was a good year for movies. Spotlight, The Revenant, Carol, Brooklyn, Mad Max Fury Road, Room, The Big Short, Inside Out... what a year!
*2015
Diego Pisfil absolutely, through Brooklyn and The Revenant were fantastic too.
I don’t care if I’m 2 years late but how the hell did you not mention The Martian
2015, the Oscars where in 2016.
Adam used to be head writer for Saturday Night Live. This is the first time that someone either currently or formally involved with that show has won an Oscar. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that, not even Adam's Wikipedia page.
tom hanks?
No, I meant someone who was either a cast member or a writer on the show. Tom was a recurring host, but he was never a cast member or writer.
+Kyle Oxenham tom hanks was a cast member
@@sndoubleopdodoublegydodoub4557 NO HE FUCKING WASN'T
The Big Short was a great film and worthy of this win for Adapted Screenplay.
"Listen, mate..."
A very Australian thing to say kkkkkkk
Russell is from New Zealand. Oh well same thing he did spent his childhood in Australia tho
I honestly think ryan gosling has better chemistry with Russell Crowe than anyone. They are pure gold and it was so unlikely!
I met Charles and Milli. Amazing people. So humble and so lovely ❤
You know what's sad? It's an Adam McKay film but this time it was not produced by him or Will Ferrell. If they were both producers, we would not only say Academy Award Winner Adam McKay but also Academy Award Nominee Will Ferrell.
Adam McKay is amazing, The Big Short absolutely deserved this win
Great movie, great script, great acting, great directing
The Big Short had its screenplay REVOLUTIONARY !!! By the way GREAT FILM , Adam McKay , Brad Pitt , Dede Gardner , Jeremy Kleiner .
Diego Pisfil The Martian has a better screenplay then both.
Dear WB, give Shane Black an opportunity to make a Nice Guys sequel! We don't care that it bombed!
I love ryan gosling.
Seriously need to watch the film but awesome to see The Nice Guys present the award
Room was great and so was The Big Short
I was so sure Adam McKay would have won for anchorman 2 or maybe step brothers. But hey ya get where you can get it.
God that was a nice year for writing.
2:06 Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in the same frame
I particularly loved this 2016 Oscar's
*_Love_*_ The Big Short_ and all, but... *WHERE THE HECK IS **_STEVE JOBS??_*
For what its worth, Russell should have a second Oscar for A Beautiful Mind
You see what happens when you include Pantera in your script? You win the Oscar for best adapted screenplay 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Great screenplay, i didn't understand a shit of it, but okay
That's just the subject matter. I think they did a great job cause they made it less complicated and at the same time entertaining.
Diego Pisfil The Martian should have won.
Funnier than anything most Oscar hosts do during any given Oscar telecast! Although I was pleasantly surprised by Jimmy Kimmel this year.
It’s The Nice Guys
I would love to see a
Nice Guys sequel!!! 😎👍
Me too!
Well Crowe ALMOST had two Oscars
I can't believe that Russell Crowe actually revealed his mean side.
OMG I just noticed that 2:06 the girl with the green dress was Rachel Mcadams. MCGOSLING FOREVER
To all those poor souls in the comment section saying The Martian should've won
no
Those poor souls are correct.
probably the best acting in this movie.
“My two children, Lily Rose and Pearl (Will Ferrell’s landlord)”.
Wait, isn't that Dirty Mike? Glad to see he's doing well now.
Anyone on the Comment section wants the nice guys 2 !!!
1:30 What happened to the microphone ?
What's the song that the band plays when the men go up to receive their Oscars?
+supermariofan03
Thanks for that
:) My choice was The Martian, my mom had worked for a book store and she told me that this book was HUGELY popular
The big short 😍
0:20 Video games also count?
Each screenplay category presented by someone already won an Oscar
Original Screenplay (Spotlight) by Charlize Theron
Adapted Screenplay (The Big Short) by Russell Crowe
Damn Ryan, don't stand so close to the mic.
I think that "The Martian" deserved it
I always liked the lewis ranieri theme
Rusty could still get it
In Retrospect (Just My Opinion):
The Big Short (Winner)
Carol
Brooklyn
The Martian
Room
For me this list should have been:
The Big Short
The Martian
Room
Carol
Steve Jobs
And Steve Jobs would win. Hands down.
The Martian should have won.
GradyW6 Wilson Yes...yes it should have. I really enjoyed The Big Short, but this was Drew Goddard’s award.
supermariofan03 totally agreed. Steve Jobs and Big Short are great but The Martian is amazing. The screenplay is Oscar worthy. Not only is it super well written and funny, it has also been praised for being scientifically accurate and 95 percent accurate to the book it’s based on.
Diego Pisfil How is The Martian Oscar bait? Members of the Academy are usually allergic to Sci Fi movies with rare exceptions.
Adam is a giant omg
is Ryan Gosling implying that Russell Crowe was robbed of his second Oscar for A Beautiful Mind?
If Steve Jobs was nominated it should've won, but The Big Short was the best of the choice listed. Fantastic script!
Room? Serious? you people are drunk. The big short wayyyyyyyyyy better
Diego Pisfil The Big Short was really good but Room was garbage and beyond overrated.
If it can't be Aaron Sorkin(Steve Jobs) then at least it was these guys.
I don't love The Big Short, it's kind of a mess and isn't as clever at explaining terms as it thinks it is, but I love Adam McKay and am glad he won
I think Ryan Gosling meant Russell Crowe has two best picture winning movies 😂
1. The Martian
2. The Big Short
3. Brooklyn
4. Carol
5. Room
That’s my exact list.
True
Minion and dumbo circus short film 🎞 award winner
Russell Crowe won another Oscar, because he loves to FFFOOIIGHHTTT raun' da weeerld 🎶
Charles thanking Plan B and his children in the same speech is amazing 😂
It’s funny. 1 guy Big the other 1 short
how can ryan gosling present the award when one of the nominees, the one that one, in fact, starred him?
This happens more often than you think:
- Michael Douglas presented Best Picture the year GLADIATOR won (he starred in another nominated film that year: TRAFFIC).

Cool
Don't know why nice guys flopped.
Drew Goddard should have won for The Martian! >:(
well desreved
With other words don't vote for Hilary
Room or Brooklyn should have won
And now all these people are dead.
Dear Hollywood, please make sure David O. Russell's next movie flops big time lol!
Amsterdam flopped so badly, could it be a sign of what could happen to him?
The Martian should've won
freedom of articlie as free doom can planting in us from 60 years some kind of companies in movies world made it message for the world when acting 12 angey men i did nott get it until now now >>big short carry out the same your thank you my friendo carrell your ploops make that math lesson a movie
How did Steve Jobs not get nominated? Aaron Sorkins best screenplay
Brooklyn should have won hands down
No the Martian should have won.
@@ronaldmcdonald2817 Yes very disappointing 😟
Room deserved win this oscar
Richard Lugali no
No.
Stfu
Hell no!
Room was robbed
Diego Pisfil Larson gave a better performance then Blanchett. Blanchett gave a pretty good performance but no where as good as Larson or even Ronan.
This obviously should've gone to Sorkin for Steve Jobs. Surely the Oscars were just trying to pander to millennial with this Anchorman stuff.
I don't think you know what you're talking about. THE BIG SHORT is not ANCHORMAN, it's unfair to compare it just because the same guy wrote both. I like The Big Short but this is the list should've won
1. Room
2. The Big Short
3. Brooklyn
4. The Martian
5. Carol
Diego Pisfil The Martian, Brooklyn and the Big Short are all better then carol.
Diego Pisfil it has and it always will
Room deserve to win this award, one of the best film of 2015.
Did you watch The Big Short?
+Rodrigo Ornelas yes I have, did you read the book room? In my opinion Room was better
+timothy wong hmmm agree to disagree
+Rodrigo Ornelas lol we all have different views
+timothy wong haha exactly
