- For gardeners in North America, sedges (Carex species) are an incredible ground covering plant that produce lovely tufts of foliage. Many species provide interest all year round with their evergreen foliage. However, in late winter many times they could use a little hair cut to allow them to grow some fresh foliage as spring arrives. In this short video I demonstrate exactly how to do so.

I have two balconies and I’ve started planting local flowers and shrubs in my garden boxes. We’re on the top floor of the building, but we still get bees up here-despite being on the sixth floor!
You cant hide the delicious pollen from the native plants from the bees!
Don’t forget your phone- it landed in that pile of leaves. 🍂
Hahaha thank you!!
Great information.
Glad it was helpful!
Oh good, that's what I did hoping I was right ! 😉
Perfect!
That's one the previous owner didn't plant, but i am going to take my hedge trimmer and mow down the rose bushes. Any ideas on how o get rid of elm trees growing in between my rose bushes?
Watch your fingers! That’s how I cut the tip off one time.
I have sliced into mine before too :(
By the way, you make me nervous with those shears. You’ll wind up having to get a couple of stitches one of these days!
I should’ve been wearing my gloves!
