I have always used Samsung messages. I have tried Google's version and I do not like it personally. Another option you did NOT mention is you can zoom the text size to make it bigger or smaller for each message/contact and am pretty sure Google does not let you do this. I like that I can change the background for each contact for a visual cue that I'm texting the right person. I'm pretty sure you can add a widget to your home screen for a particular contact in both apps and I use this for few contacts so I don't even have to open the app and choose the person - really handy! The later versions of Google DO let you pin contacts now but does NOT offer the categories. In my experience the Samsung message app is much better on Samsung phones with the ONE UI interface.
The main reason I use Google Messages on my S23 Ultra is because I spend most of the day on my laptop and I have Google Messages For Web on my laptop. I like being able to use the full keyboard for typing. Is there a similar program that allows me to have a desktop program for Samsung Messages?
I use Google messages For groupchat whenever I wanna add people to a group it creates a separate group instead of adding them to the current group why is that Are messages encrypted. Is this app safe and secure to use. If not are there any other secure messaging apps to use Is there a way to reply to a specific person in a group. Like if you only wanna respond to one person
Change your grp settings to add in current chat you in. Encryption lolol define lolol To reply to person it’s same as iOS etc. but might have to use thier grp name not your contact name you gave them.

There are rumors and some real information that insinuates Samsung is going to sunset this app in lieu of Google Messages and only ship GM with their phones.....not sure if this is true or not?
Yes brother the press and hold to select text for copying is the main reason I stick with samsung msgs. Also I stick with samsung internet and samsung keyboard. I like them all better than the google alternatives which I've tried them all and chrome definitely sucks

On a Z Fold, when opened, you can expand the conversation list to full screen instead of splitting it between contacts and messages.

Yes it's called "link to windows" and it does so much more than just messaging. You can access the entire phone on PC.

We can have Google Messages on Samsung. The app is actually the default app these days.
