So anyway, I don't know his 'real story', as I don't know any Russian news sources about it. What money did he steal? Was it tax payers' money? And what did he use it for? Maybe if you can provide a source to a good and concise article of some sort?

Moreover, while Navalny was free, every year he himself flashed a declaration about his income! And he wasn't even obligated to do it...
As for the “hatred of Russians” towards Navalny, this is not entirely true. Or rather, this is partly true. Some Russians who are isolated from politics (and these are certainly the majority) will prefer to take into their heads a certain “default” position that is broadcast by propaganda - they do not want to understand these issues and take the loudest position, and for this reason they may have a negative attitude. Well, there is also Putin and Navalny’s electorate, they understandably more definitely take one position or another. This is how a not entirely unambiguous attitude towards Navalny was formed, where the decisive votes were made by “neutral/apolitical” citizens.

The only law Assange broke was the Espionage act which was introduced in the 1910s for treasonous acts. Not for publishing government war crimes which Assange simply accepted from Chelsea Manning who had committed the crimes. If you're truly for government transparency, then you should be for the freeing of Assange and for real journalism like his to take place so we can see the horrific acts committed by our government with our tax dollars.
