This would have been easily another huge hit single in 1991 for Milli Vanilli had Rob & Fab not pushed to be outed and fired. This song having not been a Milli Vanilli single was definitely one of the biggest regrettable results of that.

I'm also from the Philippines, and this was one of the biggest songs of 1991 in the Philippines. It was number 1 for many, many weeks in Manila's pop radio stations. The Kathy Troccoli version, which was already the third version of the song, came 3 years later, in 1994. MYMP's version was released in 2005.

Maybe I'll get an answer here: Can anyone explain why the public cancelled Milli Vanilli but not Boney M, another group created by Frank Farian with the same miming, not singing in the record, style?
My guess is because Boney M was more popular in Europe than in the US, and peaked at a time when people mainly listened to the radio and to records. Milli Vanilli was big in the US, during the MTV era, at a time when rap and hiphop were starting to get mainstream, and when audiences of this genre already preferred that their artists were authentic and creative (this was the same period as Public Enemy and the Daisy Age artists). Milli Vanilli banked on their looks, and they won the Grammy Best New Artist. They were big, and will definitely be scrutinized, especially in the US. Milli Vanilli remained big outside the US after that: this album The Moment of Truth was huge in the Philippines--on the strength of only radio airplay and no videos, and 3 singles from it were as memorable to us as their earlier hits. I listened to pop radio a LOT around this time, and I believe Tell Me Where It Hurts was the 2nd or 3rd song in the year-end radio countdowns in the Philippines for 1991 (number 1 was Make It Easy On Me by Sybil.)

Why are you crying
Tell me now tell me now
Tell me why you're feeling this way
I hate to see you so down
Oh baby is it your heart
Ooh breakin' all in pieces
Makin' you cry
Makin' you feel blue
Is there anything I can do
Why don't you
Tell me where it hurts now baby
And I'll do my best to make it better
Yes I'll do my best to make the tears all go away
Just tell me where it hurts now tell me
And I'll love you with a love so tender
And if you let me stay
I'll love all of the hurt away
Where are all those tears coming from
Why are they fallin'
Did somebody somebody somebody leave your heart in the cold
You just need somebody to hold
So baby, give me a chance to put back all the pieces
Take your broken heart
Make it just like new
There's so many things that I can do
Why don't you
Tell me where it hurts now baby
And I'll do my best to make it better
Yes I'll do my best to make the tears all go away
Just tell me where it hurts now tell me
And I'll love you with a love so tender
