Hi Stephaine: Due to the castrophic failure of your heating system I strongly suspect your have galvanic corrosion going on. Merely replacing the radiators will not solve the problem. Galvanic corrosion maybe caused by a water line being run next to an electrical wire some where in your system. It can also be caused by your system having two different types of metal fitting coming into contact with each other. Check the ph of the water you are using to fill the system. If the water has a high in alkaline or sodium, this maybe the cause. (Do you have a water softner at the chateau? Fill your system with water that has not gone through the water softner as most water softners use sodium) Also check the electrical ground on your water pump to make sure that it has not come loose.
When Amaury was explaining the panelling, I had to rewind to listen to what he actually said. I had realised I was not listening, just looking at him :)

I came into hospital for spinal surgery that going to be an overnight visit. The surgery when wrong , I developed an infection and it all caused a systemic gout reaction. The pain has been unbelievable. And I’ve had to face it all alone as we are in lock down. Every day I have found either a new vlog or and older favourite one to watch. The pleasure you have given thru these dark days has been so wonderful and so special. Hi Stephanie. We're in France, and have the exact radiators as you. We also had a leak and we used the French equivalent of 'Stop leak' liquid bought from Brico Depot, Angouleme. This might buy you a little time until you can get new radiators up and running. We did our heating system ourselves too, only 14 rads, but very satisfying...good luck!
These are my favorite type of videos! Seeing what goes on behind all the lights and cameras, the ins and out of chateau life, the parts that aren’t so glamorous but a necessity to be able to run a home and business!
Not sure about putting radiators in the long windows because surely the curtains will be shut in the bedrooms at night and in the mornings and all you will be doing is sending the heat out the window ( especially as they are not double glazed) as the curtains will block the heat getting into the room ? At least you found the leaks now so you have some time to get it sorted before winter arrives.

HEIDI DAUS was at Lalande….OMG!!! I’ve watched Heidi 4-5 times a year, every single year since her first show on HSN 18 years ago in the US. Stephanie, Have you ever explored the possibily of "Ground to Air" heatpumps for the apartments within the Chateau? They would be fed by the same ground source as your "boiler" but provide zoned, forced air, heating and cooling, Nick & Marie's, Michael's, Mummy's, Natalia's, Jerry's as well as the Marquis's apartments could all be fitted with individual air handlers feeding off of the "anti-freeze" from the current system (with built-in back-ups) and could then offer heated as well as cooled rental units. This should reduce the drain on the current or any new boiler. Just a thought, but could be a better way ro heat the building as it grows. Just a thouht to explore.
Cannot wait till November for christmas yippee 🤣So many radiators to replace. Nice to see familiar faces back . Loving the works of the bun cousin lol loved watching xx
I notice that the thermal insulation in Nati’s apartment is covering the area between the two new French doors at the back where you hoped for another window. Were you denied planning permission?
@@debbiebirnbaum2977 the rear ground level is higher so this is a practical solution to allow Nati a view from her bedroom/living room and easy access to the garden but will also give interest and a sense of more space to the apartment. I just wondered about the planned extra window. Reflective surfaces in the decoration will move light around the space so I’m sure it won’t be a problem.
Another fun vlog. So much is going on. Hope the heating issues get sorted out. Definitely need some expert advice regarding how to prevent in future. Getting the water tested for hardness is a good idea as that can cause pipe erosion and leaks. Can't wait to see the projects from Chateau DIY. Natie must be so excited. Her apartment is coming along nicely 😍😘
Stephanie, please see Jeffery Matinec and other comments from those in the know on radiators. We all want your heating system to be a complete success.
Judging from the rudimentary calculations installing the appropriate heaters you will see a significant jump in your electricity bill you may also need to consider investing in solar cells a couple of things come into play when you're checking for your heating these include what sort of insulation you have and the type of windows for heat leakage
I wonder if Flex Spray would be a quick repair for all the radiators until you get replacements. It’s a product from USA I think. If sprayed on boats, canoes etc, they would allow them to float without any leaks. Temporary.
Looks like pressure is high on several of the radiators. Should have done in floor heating way cheaper and warm on the toes. There is recycle money to be had on old radiators weight and metal content. New ones are way cheaper than constantly redoing older models. Busy as bees there and Beeswax smells heavenly!

Hope you soon have a visit to brocante. Miss those trips
Not less than 5 minutes ago was thinking exactly that
I notice that the thermal insulation in Nati’s apartment is covering the area between the two new French doors at the back where you hoped for another window.
Have you checked Isabel's apartment for leaks?
Another fun vlog. So much is going on. Hope the heating issues get sorted out. Definitely need some expert advice regarding how to prevent in future. Getting the water tested for hardness is a good idea as that can cause pipe erosion and leaks. Can't wait to see the projects from Chateau DIY. Natie must be so excited. Her apartment is coming along nicely 😍😘
Hello lalanders, big hugs from Mauritius 🇲🇺😘👋🍸🌼🌼🌼
DYI Lalande family, way to go Amaury and Stephanie!!! Daring, adventurous, responsible, wise and clever!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh I love this episode.
40 MILLION VIEWS!!!!Congratulations team lalande
Good to see it all coming together before winter comes stay safe all
I wonder if Flex Spray would be a quick repair for all the radiators until you get replacements. It’s a product from USA I think. If sprayed on boats, canoes etc, they would allow them to float without any leaks. Temporary.
I am from Germany and a good tip for red cabbage, put in some apple. It will take the cabbage to an next level 😊🥰
Looks like pressure is high on several of the radiators. Should have done in floor heating way cheaper and warm on the toes. There is recycle money to be had on old radiators weight and metal content. New ones are way cheaper than constantly redoing older models. Busy as bees there and Beeswax smells heavenly!
I really hope you don’t have galvanized plumbing. If you do you must get rid of it as it corrodes.
So wonderful to have a real life catch up and see what's happening at the chateau! Hope you get the heating sorted!
