That green rock has asbestos in it, it's ALL over the beaches down there. It's also in the Sierra Foothills and there was a huge mine near New Melones Reservoir.
Big Sit is amazing! No internet though so you discover the areas with maps and locals

Green rocks are predominatly
Called "Serpentine" meta morphic rocks. Found all over San Luis Obispo County and Big Sur.
Jade Big Sur rocks is a close but basically igneous/ harder version.
I have a famous California sculptor friend who has been carving California Serpentine for 50 years. He is alive and well.
