- This video shows how to reset the oil service indicator on a 2009 Range Rover L322. This reset works on Range Rovers (2005-2009) models L322.
Manual Reset Procedure:
Press and hold the trip reset button on the left of the instrument cluster.
Turn the ignition switch ON to the ignition position two, don't start the car.
If the Service Indicator Interval function is entered, the cluster will say 'SERVICE’ for five seconds and then display ‘SERVICE’ constantly. If the Service Indicator Interval function is not enabled, the information display will show your mileage.
If the trip reset button is released within ten seconds of entering the reset mode, the information display will show ‘DIST’. If the trip reset button is not released after ten seconds, the instrument cluster will exit the manual reset procedure.
If you want to reset the service, press the button on the left of the cluster within ten seconds for five seconds.

On my 2008 it did not work. Held left button in and turned key to 2nd position and continued to hold but no service message or reset would ever appear. Any ideas?

it's now Feb 2021. i followed this procedure exactly and it worked on clearing the oil service message on my 2008 range rover hse.

I believe not all model have that option. I work at a shop and I tried for like 40 minutes and couldn't reset the oil life. I tried doing it using a scan tool and still couldn't do it. I searched for information and found out, it can only be done by using a Land Rover scan tool. I felt stupid when telling the customer I wouldn't be able to reset the oil life. This the first time that happens to me. I have done it to many different cars such as BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Asian Cars and American cars. Thanks anyway for the info.
Hey Abel Cruz thanks for watching my video. You are correct some Land Rover models have a certain lock on the instrument cluster function (not the majority). I found a work around when I worked on these cars using an inexpensive tool called the, mongoose cable for Land Rover. You can google search and see the tool, with a little bit of google searching and UA-cam videos you can get it working very inexpensive and easy.

@Wheels tips! Hey man whatsup! My car shows two different messages on the speedometer screen (service xx kms) and (inspection due xx/xx/xx). Your tip worked great for the service reset part but I'm still struggling with the inspection messages. When I start the car now, the inspection message appears. Any advise? How to reset that? Thanks a lot in advance.
Hey Ismail thanks for watching my video and for the great question. Have you tried this actual procedure to reset the inspection due? If not I usually end up using an OBD to computer system to reset the remainder services if not possible manually with this procedure. Please share an update, thanks.
Man I guess your car is the only one that does it, I have a 2007 Range Rover Supercharge and I did try both way, just like the other people nothing, nothing at all.
Hey Nilo Roman, thanks for watching my video. I apologize that this did not work for you. As I have stated in some of the comments for some Land Rovers this option is locked by factory. Meaning this sequence will not work, only a factory toll can reset or something comparable. I apologize that I didn’t mention it in the video I believe I did in the description.

If you reset this will the car know when to remind you again to do service on it. or do you have to manually do it yourself?
Thanks a bunch for watching my video and taking the time to ask a question. On my Range Rover it did reappear some time after resetting depending what mileage I reset it at, but I always kept track with another source such as my service manual and oil sticker.

Hey David Stocken, some Land Rovers have this function locked. I will check if there is a way to unlock it and get back to you soon.

So the procedures are as follows , two different ones.
Procedure 1.
1 Switch ignition off.
2. Press and hold left hand instrument pack button.
3. With button held switch ignition to position 1
4. Continue to hold the left hand instrument button for 5 more seconds until SAI Reset appears.
5. The reset distance should appear and has reached or exceeded press and hold the left hand instrument cluster button for 5 seconds the display should change to service date reset SIA.
6. You must press the left hand button one more time before the fifth flash of the word reset.
7. Press the left hand button one more time to exit.
Also please make sure your car is indicating service if it is not you can not reset it.
Let me know if this one didn't work we will try another.
it is indicating oil service and showing some mileage, when i do this reset procedure it does not go into the flashing mode?
I will give you the other procedure tomorrow, I must say this is one of the most complicated procedures done manually. Very tricky I sometimes myself end up having to try a few times since it doesn't always respond. The idea is that the left hand button is what you should play with. Tomorrow I will try to get the other steps.
