"Yes. I always wondered why you disappeared on Saturday for a couple hours, and the bank account went down a couple hundred..." Congratulations, on your license to continue to learn.
i hope she was more happy than the edit made her seem! lots of time and money spent for someone to not be very excited for you. I think i enjoyed it more loll!!!
Had my PPL for over 35 years, and I still remember my first pax. I can imagine if that were me, I'd be sleeping in the doghouse for months/years to come...
As others stated, one hand on the throttle during takeoff and landing. I got my PPL a little over a year ago. I did all of my training in my Dad's Decathlon that he had owned since 1988. He was my first passenger with me acting as PIC. Unfortunately he passed 6 weeks later but at least I was able to take him flying vs him taking me flying. Happy flying.
A father, mother, sibling, friend or colleague not knowing is one thing but a wife? No Way! Did she think you were cheating and had a second family? She truly seems in admiration of you though. Good job! Wife: “You focus on driving.” Husband/pilot: “oooh, we’re flying!” Live well you two. Peace out.
I think you became even hotter to your wife when you landed by the way she looked at you. 😂 What a great experience to share together to celebrate your accomplishment. Well done!
I could never do this - - - - my dear darling wife would literally go nuts at me, I can remember when we found out we were having twins - her language was let's just say very unladylike,,,,,,, she threatened certain parts of my body, shouted, screamed, swore like you wouldn't believe, so doing this would be like me playing russian roulette with 6 bullets in a 6 shooter......... don't get me wrong, she has a great sense of fun, but this would be suicidal, she just wouldn't find it funny P.S. we've been happily married for over 25 years, known each other for 30, and our girls (who drive me nuts) are now 22 - - - - and hopefully leaving home pretty dam soon!!!!!
I gotta say if you were "able" to hide this big/important of a journey from your wife, I think there's a problem with your couple. For every hour of flight training it was taking me at least 1 hour of prep/commuting to the airport. Plus there was the 100+ hours of studying. If she didn't see that happening it's very strange.
Yeah, I call BS. No way in hell I'd be able to spend hours and a shiz ton of money every week away from home without my wife noticing. Not to mention taking on the journey and cost without even talking to her about it. I'm sure she would be thrilled to know I just spent $15k+ without even talking to her about it 😂
Some of the comments are disgusting. Just judging their life and her personality based on a 4 minute video. You don' tknow that person and shouldn't say anything about how she SHOULD HAVE reacted. Jesus christ. Especially when it was cut
only need 40-60 hours to get the private pilot license. If his schedule allows I would say it is pretty doable without her knowing in a year. Only 40-60 hours of lying, not too hard huh🤪
@@matthewrammig I mean a lot of studies are just watching videos and websites, or he might pay extra for ground with instructors. If you really want to surprise someone, I am sure you can get around that.
She didn't seem too surprised. She had to make sure you weren't cheating, you have already been investigated .
Wife: "What else doesn't he tell me about?"
Great video, don't forget to hold the throttle all the time in the climb out, and approach. One hand on the control column. Happy flying.

I agree 1000%
She could have been a little nicer, not a keeper I think but well done to you pilot 👌
she doesn't seem like the type that gets too excited about anything. I think maybe she was really about to wet her pants from fear.
Congrats on the PPL! You've got a keeper for a wife...she's an awesome sport!
Great video, don't forget to hold the throttle all the time in the climb out. One hand on the control column. Happy flying
Classic move. Trick your wife into being “excited” with your shenanigans. “Happy birthday to me, honey”. Know what I mean LOL.
I’m guessing the Missus isn’t a professional actress ;-)
Hey, congratulations. I remember my first flight as a pilot carrying a passenger. But this was a good one!

KDMW, I know it well! Nice job! She must never look at the bank account, lol!
Hand on the throttle during takeoff and landing. It's such a habit, it's a shock to see others not doing it.

Trusting! Very good my man.
Awesome surprise!

Oh she wants to give it to him right now in the plane
She wants to, but she already gave it to him once earlier in the year.
@@matthewrammig Only once too lol
Practice keeping your hand on the throttle. It doesn't take two habds to fly a 172.
My flight instructor is super big on keeping your hand on the throttle under 1,000 ft

ah yes happily married lol
Secret for a whole year and the wife doesn't know, I wonder what else you're secretly doing.
bumped on this 😁 much love from 🌍

@@jrivord08 Or maybe he just has a lot of money and instead of to work he went to flight school.
It seem like that kind of marriage.
You’re judging these people and don’t even know ANYTHING about their schedule or marriage . Weird

All fun in games untill she asks about how much it costs 0_0
So cute❤
That was so cute!
One year of studying and flying 12,000 K later and she did not know? 🤔 I’m not buying it! Sorry but my wife and I are way to in-tuned with one another
I wanna know what he told his wife he was doing for his night hours….😂😂😂

You hid all that money and time from your wife? And... you were ABLE to? Ethics and abilities are notable here.
This is getting old
Yeah it is.
Nobody told you to watch
Bullshit
A flying lesson is not cheap, so I'm more surprised at how he was able to hide the finances from her.
This is BS!
