I still would have taken the ball first. SF defense was gassed and the only sensible thing to do was go down and score. They did that but their defense couldn't hold KC. Period. Old rules or new rules. Doesn't matter.
They also were noted before the game, maybe week before, but they didn’t pay attention. The Chiefs talked about it all week what they wanted to do if it went into overtime, so obviously Kyle S. didn’t think about it
The San Francisco 49ers coaching staff was fully aware. And even if the players thought they were on the old rules, you still have to score a touchdown to win, and you still have to defend. But at the time of the overtime, the team knew because the referee announced it at the coin flip. So it’s not like they were in the dark while they were playing. This really has no bearing on the game at all.
Refs explained it very well before the flip. And by them saying they did not know is a big sign to poor coaching or poor assistant coaches or helpers, whoevers job it is to know the rules totally dropped the ball on something like that
San Francisco 49ers 0-4 in Superbowls since 2013 & 2019 & 2021 & 2023 , Jim Harbaugh Era 2011-2014, Kyle Shanahan Era three 0-3 😮 with all that talent on 49ers offense and Defense each year goes by San Francisco 49ers salary cap to keep the good talent players, unfortunately NFL Network America's Game missing rings San Francisco 49ers super bowl run 2019-2023 .
It doesnt matter what the players know. It matters what the coach knows. I would also bet, they did know once they got the ball. Dude is out here searching for controversy lol
As a 49ers fan, the new rules didn’t matter in this case. I would understand it if the 49ers scored a TD on the first possession thinking the game was over, but that didn’t happen. The scenario that DID play out, was like any other OT. Can’t win on a FG anymore, if the second team to possess the ball gets a TD, the game is over. If the 49ers D stopped the Chiefs on the 4th and 1, the 49ers would’ve gotten their 6th Lombardi. They didn’t play Mahomes to keep the ball and that was a mistake.
That is a criticism of coach Shanahan. The players are criticizing the coach. Not sure what coach Shanahan is saying. But the buck stops with the coach. The coach needs to ensure that the players know the rules.

I am also familiar with college overtime rules, which are completely different from the NFL overtime rules. Regular season games can end in a tie. Playoffs and the Superbowl games can't end in a tie score.
Even if the rules were the fucking same,… the old rule is only the first touchdown can win the game without the other team getting the ball back…. Soooo with the niners only putting up a field goal lmao, the chiefs would have gotten the ball back regardless…. Duh fuck
The new score board looks like the one they have on the streams. Like Tom grossi
Even if it was normal OT , they still would’ve loss , they only scored a FG , chiefs would’ve gotten the ball still , and they scored a TD
this guys a joke the ref explained it in literally the most dumbed down version possible
I still would have taken the ball first. SF defense was gassed and the only sensible thing to do was go down and score. They did that but their defense couldn't hold KC. Period. Old rules or new rules. Doesn't matter.
Also if both teams score same amount of points in there first drive it becomes next point wins.
That’s why the HC should have been fired. That’s on him
They also were noted before the game, maybe week before, but they didn’t pay attention.
Honestly, nfl overtime should have never been sudden death, and honestly, they should completely get rid of ties.
I’m such a sad 49ers fan😭😭😭😢😭😢😭😢
So they are blaming their own stupidity
It doesnt matter what the players know. It matters what the coach knows. I would also bet, they did know once they got the ball. Dude is out here searching for controversy lol
That’s bs, the ref explained the rules before the coin was even tossed
you can hear the ref explaining the rules during the coin toss😂 if you werent paying attention ur fault
Excuses Excuses everyone knew the rules had changed because of that Kansas City Buffalo game and the ref explained before the coin toss
I’m just mad we didn’t get the whole game. Ref said we’re starting a new game, not OT. The score should of been reset to 0/0, first quarter.
The said at the coin toss.... stfu. KC train for this for 2 weeks. And SF didn't even know.
Not just Super Bowl. All playoff games.
That is a criticism of coach Shanahan. The players are criticizing the coach. Not sure what coach Shanahan is saying. But the buck stops with the coach. The coach needs to ensure that the players know the rules.
Your Pros. Learn the rules! I always learn the rules so I can use them to my advantage!
It's rigged anyhow, it didn't matter what they woulda done. Patty was gonna win no matter what
((snicker)) Somebody had to spew that silly snivel. Thanks.
Facts
on god
Shortcock.. Question. If RIGGED "AND U KNOW THIS" HOW MUCH DID U BET ON "PATTY""?? Come on Palm reader
Poster boy child wasn't going to lose no matter what ... It's so scripted!
Niners fan here, that shits unacceptable Kyle & the coaching staff have to do a better job prepating the team for all possibilities
Kyle Shanahan should have known the rules, informed the team and practiced accordingly.
That is his job!
How do you not know the rules of your lifetimes work? Just why lol? No excuse here, non factor. Their coach knew the rules.
Yo it was just Kyle Juscyk (Juicy Juice) that didn't know the rules but the rest of the team knew, so stop making shit up
How can u play for the NFL & not the rules for OT, that’s just dumb!😂
