I like this scene where he lets her know that he knows the evil she has done. I also find it remarkably foolish when she states that she never had a complete husband. That is a foolish statement since she knows there are a multitude of concubines any of which he can love or at the very least have extraordinarily affectionate feelings for. Even when he had Ruyi, the woman he loved, he fell head over heels for Consort Rong upon seeing her for the first time and practically ignores his Empress and concubines.

What I don’t understand, is that after she’s dead, he is genuinely mourning her and even writings poems for her in the series?! Even though he really was disappointed and angry with her in their last conversation, he was lovingly remembering her in the series?!
He chose to ignore her evil deeds as if she was a paragon of good. So he could act the proper mourning husband to the world even tho the ones close to him knew the truth. He didn't love any of them except Ruyi early on.
