Thanks for the video of the walk! It brought back many memories as I worked with the national trust in that area so it was great seeing it again! I was based in godrivie and remember rounding up wild ponies on the navox! Great fun! It was lovely seeing the lighthouse again and the views over to st Ives one more time! Thanks again from Freddie in Scotland.

When lobstering in 'seventies' (180 +/- pots & creels) always kept a 'string' at Godrevy's SW (sheltered!) 'tail'.....where we went onto the lighthouse island & had a good old poke around......SOOoo much bigger & spookier than you'd ever imagine. There's a big ringbolt set in the rock at the SW HW mark. The outer NW side of the island has a sheer drop of c. 80feet into dark, scary depths that we'd never ventured to as it's all SO VERY forbidding somehow. The tide RIPS past on 'springs' at a quite alarming rate of (4/5) knots and any lobsters must have to cling on like mad down there. Not so bad on neaps, but even then the tidal flow is daunting.....and "Tide's the killer" as any mariner will tell you! Virginia Woolf's "To The Lighthouse" comes to mind....and as for the dreaded 'Heva' rock halfway twixt Godrevy and Snivvey..........all S. men avoided that like the plague....we used to shoot a string in its lee with much trepidation due to its reputation!!
