in fact Armani White who collaborated on "million cash" met the girls in Malaysia and told them that in fact he follows their music and even joked about learning the choreography of "left right" and Connor Price approved and praised Maya and Jurin's tapes
During an MTV interview at the SUPALAPA Festival, Armani White was questioned about potential collaborations in Asia and he promptly mentioned XG.
I’ve been conditioned to hate “nasally” vocals in K-Pop. But I just can’t imagine a XG song without Harvey. It’s just iconic now.
XG aint kpop lol. They sing and rap in english. Plus they are Japanese
@@degiilandir6314semantics but we have to give credit to where it’s due, it’s K-pop adjacent because it falls under that umbrella, they started off within the kpop ecosystem - but their goal is a global sound and fanbase over the traditional kpop route.

@@avrgegmer1396 XG is not under the kpop or jpop system alone. They are avex-signed artists and Xgalx CEO Simon Jakops works with avex to promote XG in Korea and globally. This is why management wanted them to sing in English rather than Japanese or Korean. Their music genre is hip-hop, r&b. Just because u promote ur music in korea it doesnt mean ur music is kpop.

I said listening to K-Pop my ears were trained to react negatively to the nasally vocals Japanese idols usually have.
Harvey on the otherhand, has really made it work for her.

After watching the Tapes themselves and so many reactions I've just became more impressed by the genius of the team behind XG when I realized the girls aren't talking at haters generally but each girl with their lyrics and video theme is talking to a specific group of haters.
Harvey who gets the most individual hate for her voice I've seen people comment they can't listen to XG because her voice and what is she doing in the interview, talking to reporters
Maya is responding to some of the CA haters who comment about their fashion and hair styles and even some of their lyrics. It's why the set is a fashion shoot
Cocona is partially CA as to how they genuinely listen to this kind of music and partially about their part in writing songs the second thing made me realize she isn't in a board meeting but she is sitting in with the writers taking part and the lyrics are just another example of how they are students of what came before and respected it
Jurin is responding to the hate from k-pop fan bases and technically she is Simon in the video and explaining why they are x-pop.

I think Cocona might be better at rapping in her own language than in english possibly. Maya been the best makes sense since she said in her interview she is the best bilingual person in the group.
They are trilingual and Maya is the most fluent so she has an edge in completely English raps. Maya went to international school so that’s why she is more fluent
I’m Japanese but it’s not about the language. It’s about Cocona’s rap style. Her pronunciation doesn’t get any better when she raps in Japanese too. She is doing it on purpose.

Maya will usually be most people's favorite because of her clarity, being she was raised speaking English, but she's very good lyrically. She was my fav in this. Jurin was my 2nd, Cocona my 3rd and Harvey my 4th. Cocona's whole verse was a Jay-Z scheme with so many references, pretty slept on.
Current bias: Jurin, Bias killer: Maya she is SO well rounded. I just can’t with Jurin’s appeal - so magnetic

Cocona on the beat💥 Jurin is toooo 😎 cool for skool🥶 Maya ALWAYS brings the 🔥 and Harvey is the spice🌶 Thruth is XG on the 🎤 is💯 LETHAL 💥 and two years in still the FRESSSSSHHHHEST.
It's actually my favorite one by far .
I can understand why at a first listen Maya or Harvey hit more but both Jurin and Cocona went crazy (my favorites one).All of them improved in literally everything, delivery, pronounciation,pen, with double ,triple and more since tape 2.
Cocona went crazy on JAY- Z I counted 12ref(she closed it with a Show & Prove ref that's a Jay-Z ref before being Jay-Z) , that Thanos ref is sick the rock fell out (Roc A Fella) the sky, .She literally doing an Encore to ref to both encore release and even had a ref to Numb that was the song mashed up from the linkin park album meteora) : "when All these meteor (also a shooting star ref) bars goin' over(H.O.V.A)their head."
Jurin went stupid in the double triple and more entendre , she starts with a Last time I checked(it's how Jeezy - Trap or Die verse start)

that Katt Williams shay shay itw went viral,I never watched club shay shay or the itw but I knew about it and the bar is so spot on.
100% on all points, really they are an inernaional group, why woud they not know about shay shay, the internet, they live on social media promoting theselves,not sure if I get why it would even be a question. No hate, but their reaction compared to so many others, was light work. Felt like a checkbox on a to-do list. Thats just my take.

Just want to say I'm REALLY glad to see they haven't abandoned the XG Tapes concept. I was legit worried it was just part of the early marketing strategy and it was gonna fall by the wayside as they got busier & busier. To me it shows they aren't assuming "we made it". They are still trying to show n prove. They still have that hunger.
But who made them mad? I feel like they are trying to step on someones neck with these.
Each had some REALLY NICE bars but Maya's "I spit like this and look like that" bar was SICK! Can be applied in so many ways - to haters, to skeptics, to a wider rap community who might be hesitant to accept that 4 Japanese girls can come with some skills. Because they don't rap like k-pop rappers (YES I KNOW THEY AIN'T K-POP so don't come for me) because that's what people, at least here in the western hemisphere, will naturally compare them too.
Just shows me they are cognizant of where they are and what they are attempting to do (speaking solely about the rap line).
There were like a million Jay Z references in coconas rap. Surprised y’all didn’t catch them but then again you would have to be really familiar with his music to get it.

The Rap line is always on 🔥. I keep explaining that Jurin did a whole skit as a pod cast host with three other members so you never know. I watch Club Shay Shay. I understand WHY no one has a bias. The Lyrics, Rhyme Scheme and Swag of each member. I loved Cocona’s Thanos 🫰🏽😜🌏 bar (which to me was referring to her rap skills) was Amazing. I have never really listened to Jay Z…but she killed it. Maya’s “Girl Game” shout out was perfect as the did do an ASL version. The girls did receive shout outs by three of the original artists of each beat. Harvey got so much ridiculous unfounded hate ..I was so happy she served a diss track. JURIN’s was absolutely Fire 🔥 Flame ☄️Flavor 🚨. it only matters if it matters - some are hung up on it, most fans dont care, nobody expects a group to write their on songs, but somewhere along the way, rappers writing their verses became a thing and here we are
I’m with Dame on the order, and I actually think it was deliberate by the producers (given the girls dont write their own raps), cos its pretty much the exact opposite order to most peoples line up on the last xyphers, where Cocona and Jurin really blew up.

As an OG, I have mix feelings about these songs. One, I doubt they wrote these lyrics but the top rappers today don't write their raps anyway so this is a squash. Two, they are not this hard. I'm sorry, I'm find this cringy for some reason. It's most likely me. Majority would love this.
