The result was both of us came out as the best stand up comedians of the evening, which was far from the intent of the speech! The audience thought our gig was scripted. I empathise with Mr Rahul. 😂

I have always found RG cool for the kindness and sense of humour with which he treats instances of bad translation. This was the time when everyone used to make fun of him and I didn't have a great opinion of him. But I would think he at least has a sense of humour. He would also, wherever he went in Kerala, allow young school going kids to translate for him. He would simplify what he had to say so these kids would be able to translate correctly. There are many leaders who just speak in Hindi and doesn't bother having a translator. RG has a translator in every place. Asking students to translate for a big leader builds up their confidence. Even when they make mistakes, he gently encourages them. The last was an example of that. This video is edited in a wrong way. It's not that the girl in this instance translated well. In the original video, you can see her stumble when she came across unfamiliar medical terms, but RG can be seen encouraging her. So her confidence went up and she did a great job with the rest of her translation.
