It's obvious from the transphobic comments to this one video that there's still a lot of ignorance and hatred out there. The people doing that are EXACTLY the same kind of people who tried to kick her out if Girton because she was a lesbian and who continue to threaten her and her family. I am not quite as old as Toksvig, but the hatred direct at not just trans, but all LGBTQ+ people today is disturbingly the same as it was when I was growing up. The "protect the children" mantra was used against gay people then (and now) and it's being whipped up in exactly the same way against trans people. I frankly admire her optimism, because I must admit that mine is daunted from what I've seen in my lifetime, even with the progress we've made.

It's hard to believe (I do) this happened to Sandy's family in 1994.

Where did the MC get her accent?!
RP? Someone told her she needed to sound "posh".
Toksvig managed to transition from "American" to a reasonably neutral English accent. Why can't the MC?
Toksvig is , as usual, erudite and concise.
And I don't blame the MC from "conforming" to the norm. It's just sad that she felt the need.
As for those that limit their participation in the human experience, we can only, as Sandi says, feel sorry for them.
READ everything! If you learn only ONE fact that changes your perception of the World, you haven't wasted your time.

For those working with Ai, remember they will often answer 'it's a giraffe'... the thinking is, an Ai's knowledge is based on electronic information = most electronic information is 'outstanding', 'outliers'. 'outlandish', and now we know it is biased by the writers/overwriters too :) Also remember the first law of computers = GiGo :) Garbage in/Garbage out

@@Saanyooo I'm fairly sure that Sandi referred to the young lady in question as the Equalities Officer, in which case she's an employee of the University, not a student. Either way, all sorts of people use all sorts of verbal "fillers", some people "um" and "ah", others say "do you know what I mean?", etc., I think people use them to signify they've not finished yet and have more to say and rather than have silence (when the listener or others may interrupt) use these fillers as thinking time to then continue. Of you record yourself in a similar scenario you may be surprised.

Sorry Sandi. Stacking shelves in a supermarket is not at all the same as stacking them in a warehouse. The latter is considerably more physically demanding.
