- Informal perspective is a way to measure the relationships between lines, angles, shapes, and spaces in a scene relying on estimations or informed guesstimates.
When artists use the informal perspective method we compare lines, widths, heights, and angles against true horizontal and true vertical. Instead of using a ruler to draw and measure precisely, we use our pencil and thumb as a placeholder for measurements.
