Such an amazing place that I am glad I can go through. When I joined in 1999 to do baptisms there, I knew I was where I had to be. At these iconic temples, I have received more answers through prayer.-Chad James
Hands-down the most incredible structure I’ve ever been in. I felt peace unlike anything I’ve experienced before. If you live in the DC area, I would strongly urge you to go see it and experience it for yourself while it’s open to the public. What I’ve felt in this holy place transcends words or description.
As I've watched this as a member, I felt an amazing connection to each of the apostles. I know them, I trust them, I feel I know their hearts. They don't know me, but their hearts are good. I sustain each of them.
Now if we could just spread that feeling throughout this troubled world! The temple, helps me focus on the Savior and therefore focus on the needs of others.
It’s a very beautiful temple. More than mortar and stone, God is looking for living temples to dwell in today - “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” - 1 Corinthians 6:19 NIV 😊🙏🏽
Anyone can enter a temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If the temple is dedicated, they have to prepare by making certain choices (including being baptized into the Church) and living certain standards. Prior to a dedication, an open house is held where anyone of any religion (or lack thereof), lifestyle, or age is welcome. It's a wonderful opportunity to see the inside of the sacred building, feel the spirit in it, and learn more.
Alexander- Please come and see and feel the love of the Lord in this sacred building! We are coming from Utah to Wash DC and spending part of our time attending the open house. We actually have a small Temple in our community and had the opportunity to welcome 440,000 visitors to the open house. We got to be some of the people who were greeters. It was a treasured experience to share the beauty and our reverence for God's house. I hope you go and I hope you understand that You are a Child of God- our loving Heavenly Father and saved by His Son, Jesus Christ!
I love this but also it kind of hurts. I really think everyone in this video belongs in the temple as themselves. I hope one day everyone will be welcomed in the temple regardless who you marry, gender expression, or religion all the time, not just at an open house. The temple brings me so much joy and peace in my life. I am so excited to marry my fiancé in the temple because I want to be with him and our family together forever. I would like to be able to see all our family there, but I know we won’t. The temple is so important to me that I will get married there, but I hope we will continue to get revelation or direction from the prophets on how to alleviate this pain.
This can't happen. The temple worship is a very sacred experience. Even some LDS members cannot go because they don't keep certain commandments. Homosexual sex is forbidden, and the Lord considers it second only to murder in seriousness. Besides, the Lord created Man, male and female created he them. To "change one's gender" is an affront to this, basically saying that God made a mistake. Nevertheless, I hear your pain, and I also hope that one day, things might change for these people.
The National flag of the United States of America was visible at one point in the Temple. Would the National Flags of all the countries where there are Temples, which belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, be displayed?
There aren't any flags inside the temple. Usually they fly the flag of the nation/territory the temple is located in on the grounds, as is the case in DC.
Hi Dave, thanks for tuning in! "Mormon" is an unofficial nickname of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, although we prefer "Latter-day Saints" or "members of the Church of Jesus Christ." "Mormon" is actually the name of an ancient prophet who abridged a historical and religious record that was later translated by Joseph Smith Book and published as the Book of Mormon. Members of the Church believe Jesus Christ is our Savior, we revere the Bible as the word of God, and we believe the Book of Mormon to be another testament of Jesus Christ. You can learn more about our beliefs here: www.mormon.org/beliefs/what-does-it-mean-to-be-christian#section3

Good examples here of good people across religions and backgrounds realizing that we are on the same team.

Yes! That is the Spirit of the Temple. Thank you for acknowledging the Spirit of the Lord in the house of God!

How does one obtain an Invitation to such a prestigious event such as this?
Hi Alexander, thank you for your question. For information on how to attend the open house click here: dctemple.org/open-house/

Many of these lost souls came and saw but did not comprehend
Who told you they were lost?
No one is lost to God. And how do you know what they did or did not comprehend?
💛...
The national flag is flown in the countries in which each temple resides. The U.S. flag is flown only on the grounds of U.S temples.

I don’t know about all of them but I went to the Chilean temple and it had the Chilean flag 🇨🇱

You are ashamed to say the word Mormon. You must be very proud

I am very grateful for the work Mormon undertook to compile the records. Ditto to the words from Church Newsroom.
Not a temple
It has not yet been rededicated, but the spirit is there
