I just miss this era 2009-early 2011. the blooming of KPOP. these days a lot of companies are always having a hard time to explore genres, new stuff and trying to be original and western, well I'm not saying it's bad, but why not retain what KPOP has been known for, what people loved and what you have brought to us int'l fans before. I know that we have to move on and find new styles, and I know that a lot of songs back then have a lot of flaws, the unmatching nonsense english lyrics, the dumb lyrics, but you know we've still loved them and still, you know, a lot of fans miss this KPOP.
I agree, and I'm one of those people. I don't even listen to k-pop really anymore because it's just changed so much for me (depends on which group) but I find myself coming back every now and then to give it a chance once again...or to go down memory lane. lol
I agree I love all kinds of kpop but the kpop scene I got into was around 2009 and it has changed so much since then. I do listen to the new kpop but I always go back to what got me into kpop and I've recently started listening to kpop from the 90s.

Right now Kpop is opening their gates to their third generation of groups. The competition is fierce but also is quite interesting. These new idols have been trained to involve in the process of producing their own music which makes me really happy. Also companies now have in their minds the fact that Kpop has grown so much that those years (you're mentioning a period before Gangnam Style) and I guess they're trying to produce a type of music that international fans could like as well? If music is worse or better, I think that depends on what you listen to. Just today I was thinking that when I joined to the Kpop fandom my favorite artists were all from SM. but right now, most of the music that I like are from smaller companies or YG. There's a huge variety to choose from, for real. I think Kpop is trying to "immitate"? (I can't think a better word since I'm not a native speaker, please don't attack me for this) western culture too and I don't like that, but I trust that at some point their will find a harmony between western and easter cultures. Don't get me wrong, I like Korean culture, but music is a business and it's pretty much obvious they're trying to make happy all of their fans (and make lot of money cough cough). Sometimes I long old times as well, but this is life and things eventually change. It would be too naive (and bored) to pretend things to be always the same. But really, I insist there are so many groups now that I can't believe you're kind of "demanding"/"hoping" old school to get back. YG is a nice example of many different type of artits in the same company and also most of the artists of that period of time also are looking for new dreams so I think they eventually will disppear. I'm sure there's people who might miss HOT or Finkl, etc, but they split up and focused on their personal careers. That's how life is. Sorry, it was too long.
