    I'm from Venezuela, this music is so foreign to me yet it's so lovely!! I've never heard anything like it! the begining is so enchanting. Beautiful melody, beautiful use of the trills, very difficult to execute on a bassoon. True virtuosos both of them.

    To play Ratchenitsa(2+2+3) on bassoon is rather seldom.Bravo:)

    Here's one to all the people randomly finding this video and not realizing who the gentleman humbly accompanying on the accordion is.

    From Wikipedia about Bulgarian Music: The Bulgarian folk music is unique in Europe for its "asymmetrical" rhythms ( defined by the famous Hungarian composer and ethnomusicologist Bela Bartok as "Bulgarian rhythms" ), where the musical time is not split in even beats, but in longer and shorter.

    It actually kind of makes sense for this music. Accordion is a common instrument throughout the Balkans, as are a kind of bagpipes called gaida in Bulgarian. Bagpipes are nasal-sounding reed instruments and so is the bassoon, so it fits.

    I know the guy with the accordeon, i met him this summer in Switzerland in a concert. Good music. I was to that concert because i'm from Romania and in some way our traditional music have something in comun.

    Ясене и Петър,
    Прекланям се пред таланта ви. Често обикалям из UA-cam и винаги с удоволствие спирам тук. Преди няколко години се запознах с Юри Юнаков и Иво Папазов. Бяха на концерт в San Francisko. Всички вие сте велики. Записвайте повече и бъдете здрави:-)

    It is idiomatic folklore music.
    Their musical performances had a scence of speed and gave full play to one's technique, and this sounds make me cheerful :)

    • @edelahaye
      @edelahaye 6 років тому +1

      Actually, it's a new composed tune by Ivo Papasov (Иво Папазов).

    • @Axacqk
      @Axacqk 2 роки тому +1

      @@edelahaye Every tune was "new composed" right after it was composed. What is a living and thriving "idiomatic folklore music"? One that is limited to "classic" repertoire, or one that keeps creating?

    • @edelahaye
      @edelahaye 2 роки тому +2

      @@Axacqk I meant that it was not not "old traditional Bulgarian music", but recent Bulgarian music. Of course living tradition implies new composed tunes, if not it's just dead.

  • @vengerer
    @vengerer 11 років тому +1

    Well of course it's asymmetrical or compound if you wish. It's 7/8 with prolonged third beat- not very uncommon time in western classical music but still... :)

  • @livonia33

  • @numarul65
    @numarul65 12 років тому +3

    this is not asymmetrical....I get the rythm ^^ Pure Bulgarian-Serbian-Romanian area.and I'm romanian...and I can say.

    • @predragmanov6341
      @predragmanov6341 7 років тому +3
