  • Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I will show you all the free copper, brass, aluminum, tin and other metals that can be found in some clothes steamers. I will show you how to safely and effectively identify and separate the metals in order to help maximize your profit and divert as much of the material away from the landfill as possible.

    Final breakdown: 2.26 lbs aluminum poles and 4 lbs brass in old one!

    Why didn’t you just cut the hose off at the brass fitting? Wouldn’t the coil come right off? ✌️💚

    Reminds me I think I have a couple of cords left to strip. 100% wire when I get done. 🖖

    Thanks for the informative video, the older model gave you a really nice prize. I don't stop when I am breaking down anything. I have broke a couple of vacuum cleaners and I took it all the way down. I even found out that the motor was copper, I had watched several different scrappers and they said just cut the wire and throw the rest in shred. Nope I am going to spend the extra 15 minutes and get the copper. Stay safe my friend and see you on the next video.

    The scrapyard I go to. %40 pays $0.75/lb usd and %60 pays $1.80/lb so on cords like those, I'll take the outer sleeve off. Stripping to bare copper is a loss, and it confuses me.
    I've done a little math and with the exchange rate, you're getting a way better price on shred. If it hasn't dropped again, I'm getting $155/ton or $0.0775/lb........
    And I'm only getting $1.80/lb on brass

      Yeah, just confusing why prices vary so much. Stay well.

      I totally agree. I will be interested to see once I look through my brass how much weight I have just from the plug ends. Thanks for the comment. Stay well and happy scrapping

    I have black painted stainless steel . Is it considered dirty stainless?

    • @TinManScrapper

      I think it honestly depends on the scrapyard. I can even bring in pieces of aluminum with a wooden handle on it for example to one yard and they won’t say anything. However, another yard probably would. I think if you have a load going in mixed with clean I would separate it just in case. Worst case they just put it all together, but if already mixed they may give you dirty. The yard I go to in London, Ont with the good prices also has separate categories for clean and painted extrusion, but when I bring in my aluminum heat sinks separate they have just put them together at one price.

      I have some tea urns with vinyl decals . Any easy way to get the vinyl off? They are stainless steel urns . Not sure if I left them on the scrapyard would consider them dirty. Stainless steel for 40 cents a pound here

      I would just bring them in and take the chance. 40 cents a pound is not great, but better than nothing I guess.@@tomheiberger2222

    Sorry new to your channel. Why don't you strip the wire?

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  5 місяців тому +1

      Some wire you actually lose money from stripping. I did an experiment on different wire to strip and which ones not to. “what wires are worth if stripping for copper? I do the work so you don’t have to”
